Finally I ordered the right thing somewhere. This is probably the best teri beef I've had on the island (maybe anywhere) in the decade or so I've been in Hawaii. Just downright savory, flavorful "can't wait for another bite" delicious. I got a mini plate...(as is my custom) and there was certainly enough in it for two meals. But I wasn't able to put it down long enough to save some to bring home - it was that good. Next time I stop here, I don't know if I should get this again or try something that may be just as good or even better. Look at me thinking about the next time I'm here after just leaving. Yeah I'm finally glad I stopped at this place after years of just passing it by. You know in a way, the building and restaurant itself looks kind of run down and past its best day. The seating area in the back room is certainly atypical with biblical passages written all over the walls - actually a bit eerie. This is one of those places that people drive right by and don't realize how much they are missing. They were fairly busy with local workers getting lunch but the food was prepared quickly and service was fast. The food was delicious, portions were huge...and the price was fantastic for Hawaii. Highly recommend for authentic, local, quality food at a great price.More
We stopped in here, not expecting much. (The “decor” was “eclectic” and no air conditioning on a 93 degree day). We were very pleasantly surprised. Everything was freshly prepared and we all took enough home enough for another meal. In addition to the Ono food,...they serve home made ice cream and excellent shave ice! A real great find. My husband and I pulled in here on the way to our rented cottage for a quick supper, and were very well pleased with the food and the service. Portions are large, the price is very reasonable, and the food is delicious! We came back...on our way to the airport to have breakfast, it was also very good!More
Wow wow wow ... what a treat for a place that you’d prob just drive past and think nope looks shabby and old I’m glad we stopped ... not the best ambiance but such lovely people and bargain dinner ... $8.99 for teriyaki chicken. Pasta...salad and rice and unlimited soda refills shame we threw half it out as way tooo much I’d suggest the 2 meats for $12 and share it with someone going back tomoz for the burgersMore
We have lived in the area for 3 years, have driven past Keneke's many times, and have never really seen many people there so we figured we should skip it. Our mistake! We stopped their last month out of curiosity and it was delicious! We...shared a large mix plate with Kalua pork and Mochiko chicken. Loved the chicken! This is my favorite hole-in-the-wall place to eat on the island. The food is good but it’s the location that puts Keneke’s up to a 5 for me. If you sit outside you’ll have chickens at your feet and hear goats bleating while a green...mountain towers in your view. Lilies, papaya trees, and jewel-toned tropical flowers grow everywhere while gold dust geckos show off their red spots. Inside the restaurant bible scriptures cover the walls in sharpie ink. If you’re looking for a “hidden gem” and not-your-usual tourist trap this is a great choice! My favorite is the white fish, my hubby (who grew up on the island) like the mochiko chicken. Portion sizes are good-sized.More
One afternoon our family decided to go out to lunch for some burgers.We went to Keneke's and then decided to try other items on the large lunch specials board. We are glad we did! Coconut Shrimp,Garlic Shrimp,Pork Adobo,Teri burger, & the Double Burger Special. Every...item tasted great and the service was full of Aloha! My husband raved about the tenderness and flavor of the Pork Adobo especially! We will be taking friends here next time they are hungry for a tasty plate lunch. Our family liked reading the Bible scriptures written on the walls too!More
A stand-alone building on the island side of 83 - less than a mile past Ahupuaʻa ʻO Kahana State Park. Very casual - order and pickup from a counter; indoor dining. Cheap prices, and lots of food. Definitely the best breakfast for the money. I...love the food and the ambiance, but don't go there if you are in a hurry. They prepare one meal at a time, so I would not recommend going with a group.More
We were driving around the East Shore, had stopped at a couple of beaches and now we were getting hungry. We searched the map for a restaurant and found that this was very close by. We were surprised that it was wheelchair accessible, so we...went in. It doesn't look like much on the inside but we were hungry and it had good reviews. We both ordered the chicken (1 BBQ & 1 teriyaki) with salad and fries for $8.99 each. Comes with a large drink from the fountain. The food was really good and way too much to eat. Much better food than some of the expensive restaurants we ate at in Waikiki! There were chickens running around outside, maybe our chicken meals were really fresh? LOL There are bible verses written all over the walls and also printed on the cups. A bit strange but whatever, the food was great.More
Clean place with nice food. Ate daily special which was 2 hamburgers for 5$. Added 1 French fries and a coke for a total of 9 bucks..
We were told about this place from the hotel valet and it was a great suggestion. The garlic shrimp served with rice and a tossed salad was fantastic. My husband got the hamburger steak which he said was good, but could have used more seasoning....Great value for the money.More
We stopped here on our way around the island from the North Shore. Ordered way too much food, should have gone mini's. Driving at night and wished it was daylight to see the ocean along the drive
