We spent a day exploring the North Shore area of Oahu and came across Surf N Salsa. This is a permanent food truck in a courtyard with some others, serving basic Mexican inspired fare such as tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. There is outdoor seating in a small courtyard in front of the establishment, and limited parking available.
We ordered a burrito, rice, and fries and were happy with the food quality. The burrito was freshly made and the ingredients had a good flavor. The rice was fairly standard, no spice and a more subtle Mexican taste. We got a large order of fries and they were hot, crispy and a lot of them! Check the photo but it filled up a carry out container, this was more than we could both eat and we ended up tossing some out (that we didn’t feed to the birds 🙂).
We had a nice lunch and would definitely go back if we had the opportunity.

Located in old town HALEIWA, this food truck is located in a small food truck parking area behind the North Shore smoke shop. They offer a good variety of Mexican entrées. The food is flavorful, the servings are big and the price is fair.

Tried the ranchero and California burritos - both were very good, except the California was missing the fries. It was still tasty and a very large burrito for the price. I wish I had been able to finish it, but could only eat half of it because it was a huge portion. The truck is also parked near other food trucks if someone in your group is craving something different!

Was excited to eat here as the reviews were great and I love Mexican food. I was disappointed with my fish burrito - it tasted of salt and absolutely nothing else! The fish was so overcooked that it was too tough and chewy to eat, so I had to take it out of the burrito. There is a free water station here to refill bottles. No bathroom, but a portaloo in a dark corner of the lot (you’ll be peeing in the dark if visiting at night!).

We went to Surf & Salsa twice and loved the food so much. The outdoors area they have set up is lovely. Service during our two visits after we had ordered the food, was very slow but this was during the incredibly busy summer for the island of Oahu too so we had a lot of patience for the people working hard on Oahu who were all trying to do their best under very trying conditions. I would highly recommend Surf & Salsa for fresh and delicious food. The staff working the front counter were friendly and very helpful.

Wow… this is a special place. We had a seafood burrito and the ranchero burrito and we were blown away…. Especially the seafood burrito. How you get that much flavor in that burrito… and rhetorical mahi mahi was so moist and just packed with deliciousness! So good!
But, the appetizer special, ceviche and chips… that might have been the superstar! Chops were hot and fresh, but by far, the best ceviche we have ever had!
This place is a must when in Haleiwa!

Amazing tacos and all other food like burritos but only con is waiting time when it is busy, it doesn't matter even on weekday no lunch time. Seating area is nice n cozy. Parking is usually busy bcz there are several food trucks but you can find a space.

One of our favorite places in Haleiwa! We bounce between different food trucks or restaurants on North Shore every Friday, but this place is top of my list. Portions are large (especially the carne asada fries). Food is average price for this area/nearby food trucks. Plenty of seating in back. Try it out!

We drove to Haleiwa from town to pick up dinner (celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary). We ate here before awhile ago and really enjoyed the food. Also in this COVID times, we try to support local restaurants as much as we can. After ordering and while we were waiting for our order, we noticed that most of their employees who were interacting with the public was not wearing mask. It really bothered us and the more we thought about it if they were openly not following COVID guidelines, were they really being careful behind the scenes. We made the choice to take our food back and talk to the person in charge. We expected her to understand where we were coming from especially with the increase in numbers lately. Instead she actually wanted to argue with us and say they wear mask, while not wearing a mask or to be more accurate with a mask around her neck. We didn't get a $40 refund which really was not the point for us. As business owners (not a restaurant), we work really hard to protect ourselves, our team and customers. If a business is not willing to do the minimum , they truly do not care about our community. And that is something we are not willing to support.

Great food truck in a quaint setting. I enjoyed some tacos while my family had burritos. The red salsa is so good! The food may seem a little pricey but you get a lot of food! Two tacos is more than enough to fill up the average person.

The main reason for the stop here was for the Big Wave Shrimp Truck, but our kids being picky it was nice having some other options for more kid friendly food. We ordered a chicken quesadilla meal, with rice and beans and it was a good bit of food. Our 7 and 10 year old were able to split it, and there were still some left overs. The food was pretty good!

We’ve been here for a week and it’s the best meal we’ve had! Just crunchy tacos, chicken and beef, nothing out of the ordinary. However, the shell was different than what we are used to and the meat was great. The refried beans and rice was great too.

The food was good. I ordered a burrito and it was a good burrito no question, but it wasn't but that doesn't justify the 40 minutes waiting time. I mean I am patient but 40 minutes that‘s just too much. So if you‘re in a hurry, take another truck!

This flood truck was our favorite in North Shore. The fish tacos were delicious, fresh, and authentic. Burrito was fantastic. Bring an appetite, you’re going to need it. Well done S&S.

My daughter and I are from Texas and we loved this taco food truck. The guacamole was some of the best we have ever had. The food was fresh and delicious. I loved the shrimp tacos. We went many times during our month long visit to the North Shore. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait for the food but it is worth it.
