This had to be my favorite and best place we ate at in Moloka'i during our little fly over from the big city in Waikiki. Moloka'i dinning is more than limited, it is almost nonexistent. There are only 3 actual sit down table service restaurants...and this was one of them. Although the other 2 had larger menus and larger arrangements, this was top on my list because of the cozy decor, friendly and sincere service, and creative menu with good food. I did not have high hope from this place based on the pictures I saw posted, but wanted to give it a chance. So glad we did. It was worth the drive out of town and glad we did it on our last day to complete the trip on plus note. It isn't much to look at from outside and if you blink, you might miss it on the road, but once you get in, it had a country kitchen feel. The place is clean and looks well kept. Place is small as are the tables, but it adds to the charm of the place along with the lovely ladies working there and their charming service. For breakfast, I recommend the Scotty Special. Go and enjoy this quaint hidden gem. We did very much.More

I ate there twice during my month long visit to Molokai. The restaurant has a quaint charm most likely due to it being a local favorite. I noticed each time the strong smell of kitchen grease & that made my dining experience less than enjoyable....Food was ok but a can of soda was ridiculously overpriced at $3.50 plus a deposit fee. It’s fine to try if you want an island experienceMore

My husband and I woke up later than planned... Found out that this restaurant was one of the few on the island still serving breakfast. We called ahead to let them know we were coming and to place an order before they stopped serving breakfast....When we arrived, there were diners at several tables which put us at ease because the kitchen was still open. We seated ourselves and then waited quite a while to be acknowledged. When the waitress came to take our order, we let her know that we called ahead. She then placed 2 lukewarm to-go boxes in front of us. We stayed and ate out of the paper boxes. The food, despite the temperature, was quite good. The pancakes had a nice fluffy texture and were LOADED with macadamia nuts and the omelette was flavorful (a bit on the greasy side, but that's how my husband likes it). Overall, the food is good enough that we would probably return, despite the service. The atmosphere is nothing special-- a bit dusty with quippy signs all over. The service was lacking, as we were barely acknowledged and had to approach the wait staff more than once for basics like water and clean silverware. We were a little annoyed that we were charged for the to-go boxes (we understand that the island is small and every effort to stay green costs small local businesses money, but we would have preferred to eat off plates and were not told of the upcharge). Be forewarned, this establishment is cash-only.More

As my daughter, son-in-law and two youngest granddaughters were going to visit my wife and I during our annual visit to Molokai, we wanted to allow them to experience the Kualapuu Cookhouse, especially on Thursday night for the weekly prime rib dinner. Joining us were...two of my wife's sisters from the island. We all had a great evening. The food was excellent as always, and we always enjoy the entertainment by local Benny DeLuna and his group. Great evening was had by all.More

We arrived around 5:30 and found only one other group seated. Waitress Tina was warmly welcoming and continued to be so through the evening. We all had small salad with papaya dressing , then two of us had the ribs and one the steak. We...all agreed the food was very good . We shared a Bananas Foster and it was delicous. The surprise for us was entertainment . Not knowing anything about local artists we were not aware that the singer / ukelele player is a well loved performer. Cute place , would be happy to go again.More

Stopped for breakfast twice and it was amazing. Nice big breakfasts and friendly staff. It wasn't busy when we were there, which was a real treat.

This place is very popular. The food is good but it takes a while (the kitchen is small). There is seating indoors and also outdoors on picnic tables.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the one waitress and encouraged to grab a couple menus and any table we wanted. It was 11am and we were looking forward to a late breakfast. But we were informed that breakfast just ended and lunch was being...served. We rethought our choices. We had the BLT sandwich because they were out of ham and turkey for the club, which was fine because the sandwich was great and came with mac salad. My husband got the hamburger and rice plate with mushroom and onion gravy. He liked it. We found the place including the bathrooms to be pretty dirty. The light fixtures, and walls had layers of dirt and grease. Overall the service was okay. The food good, the prices as expected $15 for lunch. Surprised it is number 1 restaurant on the island but there aren’t a lot of choices on Molokai.More

This is a great spot-the food is pretty basic, but you won’t wait long, and the staff are very friendly. As a tourist, I noticed that most everyone knows each other here. Homey atmosphere, one cook and one waitperson. Small town experience for sure.

Ate here on the way to seeing the Coffee plantation (terrible - don't go) and the macadamia nut farm (interesting - go). The ladies working at the cookhouse were very nice. Several menu options - I had the fried chicken special and my wife had...a grilled cheese sandwich. As for decor - it's an order counter with inside seating (picnic tables I think) and an outside area (picnic tables I know). So it's rustic but friendly and good.More
