Hubby suggested we invite my sister who just moved to Maui and lives above Tokyo Tei to Valentines dinner. Coolio. We each had sake...gotta have in a Japanese restaurant. Their tempura is delicious- sis & I each had Shrimp Tempura & hubby had combo plate. Very tasty miso soup. Tempura was Ono as usual. Hubby's sashimi was tasty although not... More

We took our 83 year old Mom to dinner at at Tokyo Tei. They were open at 5:00 pm which is good for our Mom because she has health issues. The service was excellent and they set up our family at a table which was wheelchair accessible. We were served Miso soup and salted cabbage after we ordered our meal.... More

Recalling my youth when we dined here for "special" occasions anticipating those melt-in-the-mouth tempura, prime teriyaki beef, top shelf ahi sashimi, tasty fish preparation, including salmon, normally a sad frozen version here in Hawaii (like most tuna on the mainland). TT's menu reminds me I'm home and the flavors invoke smiles of my past. Invited my close friends and together... More

Not too many Japanese restaurants in Wailuku :( Tokyo Tei's been here a long time...best items to order are the Teishoku meals - complete meals for under $18 each...warning -Tempura could be a little oily, but love the sashimi pieces that come with the meal & miso soup. Also, teri-pork is tasty too. Small family style restaurant in quiet town... More

Fast service if you arrive early, gets busy fast. Nice sashimi and good combos with a wide variety of choices. More local Hawaiian style than Japanese, but good food for a reasonable price.

This is an out of the way restaurant in Wailuku. Small but the local people really enjoy it. It is always busy, try to make reservations not that expensive

I took my two boys to Tokyo Tei for lunch. They ordered the Nabeyaki Udon and I had the Shrimp Tempura Plate. My two boys like their Nabeyaki Udon. It came to our table in a cast iron pot, nice and hot. As for my Shrimp Tempura Plate, it came with generous sized shrimp that was deep fried in their... More

There aren't many choices in Wailuku. Locals eat here. Nothing fancy. Only Bud, no Japanese beers. Box B was a good choice including really light tempura.. Teriyaki steak alone just too much fat. Service was really slow for us. Was it because there was a lot of take out orders or we were tourists? Easy to miss from the road.... More

A little out of the way restaurant - you'd miss it from the road.... But turn into a small car park with other small restaurants.... And you'll see it right down the end. Food comes out quick, basic restaurant set up, but service is great. They accommodated our group of 16 well and food all come out with good time.... More

I love the food, service, and prices. Their menu is great. I love the food. I hope they stay in business a long time to come. I will keep coming again and again. Keep up the great food!
