Everything about this restaurant is First Class. From the valet parking to the "Old time Genuine" Hawaiian venue that you love, to the caring wait staff, to the crashing waves right outside your windows, to the delectable lunch we had. We'll go back again! But...for lunch, we will not have any wine or cocktails, which added $80 (or so) to our lunch check...for just three glasses of some of the the least expensive wines by the glass on the menu. $22-$24 per glass + tax and tip. It will still be eye-popping expensive, but it's vacation. Be Careful.More

The bar has like 5 or 6 spots, so having a drink or two beforehand is pretty unlikely. We went into the town of Paia to kill the hour and that was fun. Really a unique restaurant in its design and location. It was after...dark so can't comment on the view, but I suspect it's pretty good during daylight. They give you a very small bowl of soup which is outstanding and our appetizers were too. The entrees were very good, not great. 4 stars due to the price/quality ratio: it's very good but our entrees were $72 each and at that price we wanted something a bit better.More

By far the best meal we had during our week long visit. Everything was amazing but topped off with the show stopping black pearl dessert. We lucked out and were able to get bar seating at 2:00 pm without a reservation.

Yup, that's me. I'm willing to splurge, but I heard the prices from my wife's coworker and I prayed we couldn't get a reservation. Which we couldn't until we got on Open Table app and the closer the date got, the more we were notified...of openings. Finally I broke down and agreed because my wife was so excited. I didn't think it was possible that ALL the food could be so delicious. I've eaten in many 5 star resturants but i can say without reservation or hesitation, this was the best. It was darn expensive, but worth every dollar. Sometimes you pay for the location and the food is good, but the view is worth it. We went after dark, i'm sure the view adds to it, but the food alone was worth it. The service is attentive and efficient but not overpowering, but they knew the exact right moment to pop over and check in. Guys this is a place to give in to for your special lady. Sorry, but it's worth it! Don't worry if you can't get a reservation a couple of months in advance. Get on Open Table and you will have plenty of chances once you arrive. We probably got 12-15 lunch or dinner openings within 5 days of the day we actually went.More

From beginning middle to end, Mama's Fish House was the most amazing experience ever for me and my family during our visit home to Maui after moving away for years. Yes its expensive, but guess what, its WORTH IT! We had the best service from...valet to hostess to servers, and one of the chefs Mason Rosa came out and showed us some Aloha! Love Mama's forever more!!! I wish i still had leftovers, but we licked our plates clean!More

We were fortunate to snag open table reservations at Mama’s Fish House same day. We checked on-line early that morning, and one reservation was available. We immediately snagged it! We arrived a bit early. You should is complimentary valet parking, so parking is not an...issue. We waited until our reservation time on a shaded bench overlooking the ocean. It was beautiful. The décor and atmosphere here are first class. Most tables have ocean views. Our server Mike was outstanding. He was very personable and helped us make our selections. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. I had Mahi Mahi and my husband had Onaga. We started with a Ceviche appetizer and ended our meal with a light raspberry ice cream dessert. Including two drinks each, our bill without the tip was $280. In my opinion, well worth the splurge for a special occasion. We highly recommend the beautiful restaurant. It’s expensive, but the best! ❤️💚💙🧡💛More

How blessed were we to snag a last minute cancellation on our last evening in Maui ?! We have been to many fine restaurants throughout the world boasting Michelin stars yet none compare to Mama's Fish House. The food, the ambience, the location? Second to...none! The fish is caught fresh daily and drives the delectable menu. The preparation of these daily catches transported me to a culinary nirvana never before known! The oysters filled the entire scalloped shell and the presentation with the mignonette elevated certainly added to the flavor, the Crab Luau soup has sooooo many lumps of crabmeat, I was unable to finish the last few bites, much to my chagrin! But the shining star of our meal was the specialty Uku with Hamaku mushrooms, garlic, white wine and capers. I will be dreaming of this dish for years to come! The restaurant is set on the spectacular north shore of Maui en route to the famed Road to Hana and the views are simply stunning. The decor is warm yet authentic and invites guests to feel immediately at home yet teasing of the culinary experience yet to come. The setting was further enhanced by servers dressed in colorful Hawai'ian garb, but more than that was the way in which the servers carried themselves with a mix of understated confidence and Aloha spirit. Don't get me started on the incredible native floral arrangements adding the perfect punctuation mark! I was especially moved by the care in which Mama's took to highlight the names of the local fisherman as well as the location where our fish was caught. What a beautiful tribute to the integral relationships built within a community and I am certain a large part of the reason Mama's Fish House enjoys a vibrant thriving business. Thank you Mama's for the best meal I have ever enjoyed! Dare I hope for twice-in-a-lifetime...?!More

We have eaten here several times over the years. It never disappoints. We were surprised to find out the waiting period was 4 months for lunch and 6 months for dinner. However, they do have bar seating on a first come, first served basis. We...waited around and took the bar seating. The service was great and the food was awesome. We had servers at the bar all the time, so we were able to get good recomendations and instant service. They did a great job. I would do the bar again.More

The food and location are second to none! Book early, don't even thinking of waiting until you get to the island. Anyone who thinks you can walk up and get in will be disappointed. You will love the atmosphere and the food!

It’s not that deep, Mama. Plenty of fabulous food in Maui with amazing views. Do not buy into reviews that suggest no reservations is “no problem.” Without them you will be profiled, told you cannot wait on property, no waiting list, and no, they will...not look out for a bar seat. Go away is the hostess message you will get—at least that’s what we got. I used to love coming here. Too many other options than to deal with a strident hostess who acts like it’s a hot nightclub. It’s solid and a classic if you can get a reservation, but do not stress Mama’s until they get over themselves in this whacky post-Covid world.More

Eating at Mama's is an experience. The grounds and dining room are beautiful, with the ocean surf constantly in the background. The service is outstanding. My wife is allergic to garlic and onion, and when Stephanie, our server, came to our table she already knew,...since we had notified them ahead. She made sure our appetizer of shrimp won-tons (whole shrimp in a wrapper) had an appropriate sauce. Most things on the menu have garlic in them, and Stephanie was very knowledgeable in helping my wife design a fish dish that was safe for her. This led to a meal of well-prepared fish and plain rice. At a nearby table I saw a whole fish served that looked interesting. I asked the diner about it and he said it was a special that wasn't on the menu but had been highly recommended. The flesh looked very moist, and he said it was delicious, so I ordered it. When I cut into it the fish was very dry without a lot of flavor. Looking back on it I should have told the staff. I'm sure they would have done something about it. No one ever asked how our food was. For dessert we had their signature Polynesian Pearl chocolate dish, which was as tasty as it was beautiful. All in all, we're glad we went for the experience. My wife's food limitations are difficult at any restaurant, and I could have commented in my meal.More

Yes. The wait list is almost worthless. If you arrive at the restaurant around 10:45 AM, you can almost always get in for the 11 Am seating. They allow 2 hours for each seating, so the next time would be 12:45. If you... More
