Cafe Mambo has been reimagined! We are so excited about the reorganization and reopening of Cafe Mambo that took place in early 2024. We have created a modern space and new concept for the restaurant that is unlike anything this space has ever seen before. My husband and I stopped here for lunch as it looked casual and inviting and the menu looked good. Service was quick and friendly. I had the salad with the fish of the day, and my husband enjoyed a great burger with a generous serving of fries. Drinks are available, but I opted for a delicious fruit tea. The prices seemed reasonable and it appeared to be a favorite of locals as well. Unlike some of the other reviews, we didn't find parking such an issue. Street parking appeared to be a challenge but we only paid a couple dollars for parking in a lot just down the block.

We stopped into the Cafe Mambo for an early dinner. I had the Blackened Ahi Fajita which was great. The meal came with 4 tortillas, a very large portion of Ahi in a skillet over grilled onions as well as sides of guacamole, salsa, jalapeno peppers, black beans, sour cream and rice. My wife enjoyed the Ono fish sandwich with a side of salad. Service was pleasant and prompt.

We were strolling through town and stopped for a quick lunch at Mambos. The atmosphere was great because it was so open to the outside sidewalk it was like eating outside but shaded. We shared a tuna melt that was delicious... best one I’ve ever had. But the real surprise was the dressing on our salad. It was a lilokoi infused vinaigrette and it was absolutely delicious. I was really bummed that it wasn’t available to purchase a bottle because I would’ve bought several to take home it was that good.

Felt a bit tourist-trappy. I got an ahi “burger,” which was downright laughable: 3-4 very thin slices of seared ahi on a giant bun— I had to go looking amid the tomato and lettuce for the ahi. At first I was sure they had simply forgotten to put the fish on the bun! Paltry to say the least. I made a gentle and very polite complaint to my server, but she pretty much just shrugged.

The restaurant was very clean and the prices were reasonable. However, the food was not so great. We ordered the pork quesadillas which were loaded with grease, so much so that it was pretty soggy. We also ordered the turkey club which had one piece of lunch meat on the sandwich. We did do takeout but we were disappointed with the food once we got back to our condo.

In my last review, I hoped to return here when it was less crowded. However, I had no idea that a pandemic would cripple an entire industry. We were the only ones there for a few minutes; others trickled in as we ate. The Diet Cokes are still excellent and so are the fries. This time, we actually halved a turkey, bacon and mayo sandwich. The sandwich was HUGE as well as delicious, and the staff didn't balk when we wanted to halve one sandwich. In fact, our server brought us a second plate. I hope this place survives the rest of the pandemic. It's a great little restaurant with cheerful art on the walls.

After a few frustrating days trying to get into restaurants for something tasty we ended up in Paia and at Cafe Mambo. We liked it so much we went back a few days later on our (roundabout) way to the airport. Even with a line out front our family was seated within 20 minutes on both visits. My fairly picky kids tried a few new things including Ahi Fajitas and the Fresh Fish (it was Ono that day) sandwich. We also had great burger, the Shrimp Special (garlicky shrimp on rice with side salad), and a side of onion rings. The table was clean by the end of that meal, so pretty tasty! On our second visit we had a couple more burgers, a chicken sandwich (Aloha burger, sub chicken), and an Ahi Sandwich. All were delicious again, including the fries on the side! We polished it all off with a brownie which was our least favorite thing we had. Fantastic service, clean and quaint restaurant. A day in Paia is worth the trip!

My wife were wandering around Paia at lunchtime, and after viewing the options (and of course checking TA reviews), we popped in, the first customers of the day. Good choice! It's a funky place that would look suitable for a place like Berkeley. Interesting artwork, etc., and very clean. Service was very friendly and efficient. I had the kalua pork plate, an excellent choice since it's a Hawaiian specialty and it was very tasty, and it went very well with a local draft beer. My wife had the BLT which featured the most bacon I've ever seen in a sandwich. Prices were very reasonable by Maui standards. What's not to like? 2 thumbs up!

We go there every time we are in Maui and the duck burger is excellent. This time, however, the meat was apparently cut with the grain instead of across the grain. Naturally this gave long chewy strands of duck meat instead of short crackling bites. Service was good as usual and we will give it another chance despite the chewy burgers

We stopped here for lunch on the way to someplace else and were blown away by how awesome it is. The food is by far the best we’ve had on our vacation (and we’re near the end) and the prices are the same you’d pay for any sit down place on the island. I had the pulled pork fajitas - it came with a whole platter of sauces and sides, including the best guacamole ever! My husband and daughter had the fish and loved it. The place also has a nice, relaxed vibe. Highly recommend!

Went in for lunch as it looked child friendly and nice. Asked the waitress what she recommended and she suggested the nachos with crispy duck. Oh my goodness, I have never had crispy duck so good! I spared only a small amount so my husband could try it and he’s proclaimed we will be back so he can get the crispy duck himself since I wouldn’t share more than a small piece. The rest of the family’s meals were good, but the duck was exquisite

Stopped in for lunch and enjoyed it so much we returned the next day for dinner. Scott is very personable and knows his menu. His suggestions were great. The duck fajitas and onion rings are a must try! We also enjoyed blue marlin tacos and the mambo burger along with the spicy lilikoi margarita. All delicious! This is a fun, casual spot with great food and drink and a cool vibe.

Cafe Mambo in Paia is an absolute must-visit! Their menu offers a range of options, making it easy to please everyone in the group. But the BBLT and Smash Burger are absolute showstoppers. The BBLT sourdough bread adds a delightful twist to the classic bacon, lettuce, and tomato combination. I ate there this morning and I am already craving the BBLT. As for the Smash Burger, it's a tasty classic. In addition to the fantastic food, Cafe Mambo has undergone an incredible revamp, breathing new life into one of my favorite spots. Not only have they elevated the food quality, but they also paid attention to every detail, ensuring a top-notch atmosphere and service—a very welcomed fresh new vibe. And let's not forget about their espresso drinks! If you're a coffee lover like me, you'll won't be disappointed. . Overall, I can't recommend Cafe Mambo enough.
