My family has been getting these donuts ever since I was a kid. My parents grew up as locals and whenever I saw my grandparents, we got Komodo Donuts. So yeah, I may have emotional and nostalgic bias but I’ve never had a better donut stick.

So delicious! We arrived around noon, but were still able to get some cinnamon stick donuts and guava malasadas. There were 10 of us in our group, so we basically bought what was available, but they were what we came for anyway. The guava malasadas are DELICIOUS, as were the cinnamon stick donuts. The last time we came they weren't open, so we were happy to get a chance to sample the malasadas this time and we were happy for the chance. Everyone loved them! Can't wait to come back for more!!

Stopped by late morning and most of the pastries were selected. That stated, the remaining options including the donuts on a stick, guava malasadas and other items were delicious. The ambiance brought back memories of growing up in a small town in the upper Midwest where the ethnic bakery had a similar feel to it. The people were cordial and food quality was very good.

They are closed Sunday and Wednesday. They don’t seem to have much available on Tuesday or Saturday I assume in anticipation of days they are closed. So basically if you can’t go on a Monday, Thursday or Friday BEFORE noon, don’t waste your time. They won’t have anything left.

Stopped there after enjoying the sunrise experience at the Haleaka Summit for some doughnuts. This unassuming bakery and store offers a variety of tasty treats including doughnuts and cream puffs. While we were there we also picked up an apple pie and fresh buns. All were outstanding.

The hype didn't totally reflect the bakery imo. We heard a lot about the malasadas and we felt lucky to get some guava ones. The homemade taste was good, but I've certainly had better honestly. I'm glad we got some glazed ones on a stick because they were much lighter and tasted great. I wouldn't recommend to go to Makawao for this alone, but still go because the town is way more interesting than Paia and the bakery was pretty good.

The first time we came here, they were all sold out. So we made a point to come back early one morning. They were not friendly at all and seemed put out by having to help tourists. We knew exactly want we wanted, so we ordered, paid, and hit the road. There’s no place to sit—not that you would want to since it feels a bit uninviting. The cream puff tasted like your average cream puff. The donuts we all pretty much the same with different toppings. They certainly were not bad, but they were nothing special. Especially compared to the malasadas we had at Home Maid Bakery and the donuts we had from Donut Dynamite.

An island institution, it features long lines, irregular hours and dim lighting. The bakery menu is limited, but there are some excellent choices. Particularly commendable and unique are the guava malasadas, an irresistible jelly filled pastry that tastes as Hawaiian as it sounds.

We stopped in here for breakfast around 9am. There was a bit of a line but it moved quickly. We had a guava malasada, malasads on a stick, donuts on a stick, a coconut danish and a coconut turnover. Absolutely everything was delicious! I wish we had had a chance to stop by again during our trip, but we will definitely be back next time!

This bakery is a trip back in time. The shop is old school and had a fairly long line forming outside but worth the wait. We also noticed several restaurants featured the rolls and bread products.

We went late in the day. They had run out of most of their items. The first time we went the only goods they had left were day old Cream Puffs and Day old Donut sticks. Donut sticks are okay. The Cream puffs were completely still work the money. They were delicious. Did I mention, that if you purchase day old stuff its half off. That is a deal I can get behind. Especially with the prices here. We will be going back in the morning for some of their other items and fresh stuff.

The donuts and baked goods here were tasty, but not anything I’d rave about. It was a neat experience to see the old building, but the lineup inside was long, and there wasn’t much to purchase other than baking and some branded Knick knacks. The lady serving us at the counter had a borderline rude demeanor.

Definitely looks like a popular place to visit. Stopped for something sweet real quick while driving about. Cream filled donut was delicious. Got there too late (noonish) for many other options, so like any bakery early morning is key. The rest of the feel of the place was as if the building was 100 years old, so that was kinda neat to think of the history of the place. I think the lady working there was exhausted from the morning, though.

Small bakery and grocery store in the quaint town of Makawoa. The store/bakery opens at 7:00 a.m. and its best to get there early or the baked goods will sell out quickly. We tried a variety of donuts and cream puffs including the donut on a stick and the coconut twists. Although freshly baked, they were standard donuts that can be purchased at any bakery. The cream puff cream is interesting and a bit like clumped unsweetened pastry cream. I’m sure a lot of people like them since they were selling quickly but the cream was too flavorless for my palate. That said, if you don’t mind the drive (1 1/2 hours from Kapalua) and want to see another area of the island with numerous shops to browse, then Makawoa should be on your itinerary.

We liked their baked goods a lot and went there three mornings a week. They have very good malasadas and cream puffs. I liked malasadas filled with guava jam a lot. We learned chocolate donuts on a stick are available only on Saturdays. The staff were friendly and the service was quick.
