This restaurant, situated poolside, is so convenient for a quick bite, watching the games, and outrageously delicious drinks. Try their fish and chips (sadly only two small pieces), their nachos grande, or their burgers--all good choices. Caesar salad:not so much. Bartenders and waiters are delightful and very accommodating. If you're staying at the Hyatt, it's the go-to place for poolside... More

Umalu restaurant has great food and drinks only for the lunch menu. Dinner menu is sucks. Food is totaly garbage/ expensive garbage. We ordered teriyaki chicken- it was the worst teriyaki chicken I have ever tried. We told about it to barmen- we put another order for the chicken tenders with fries. To be honest- chicken tenders from grocery store... More

We spent a lot of time here in the evenings, just sitting around talking. Food, drinks, and service were all good, but it closed at 10pm. This was true of a lot of places in Maui in general, but it would have been nice if the one bar on the resort stayed open a little longer.

We were in Umalu daily during our stay and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The food is great for bar snacks or takeaway (very generous portions) and the cocktails are endless. There is usually a lively crowd watching sport on the TVs behind the bar.

I had the ahi and my husband had the seared scallops. Both meals were delicious. Very casual, we came from the pool with beach cover-ups expecting bar food, we were pleasantly surprised.

Yesterday being National Cheeseburger Day was an perfect opportunity to try Burgers at this beachside restaurant. Lucy, our server was the best. Try the sweet potato fries.

Terrible first impression of our stay with server Brittany being quite rude. My friend is under 5 feet and when people don't look at her face, assume she's very young. As a result, she was asked for ID and sent back to the room to get it (who carries their passport around when they're by the pool?!!!). I said I... More

The only thing that Umalu has going for it that it is adjacent to the Hyatt's pool. Food and service there are abysmal. It serves uninspired, fast food-quality food. Even when it's not packed with a bunch of loud frat types, the service leaves much to be desired, particularly at the bar. Drinks are better in the grotto. The adjacent... More

$15 for a handful of wings and $19 for TWO tacos and 6 tortilla chips? Are you kidding me?! The food was decent but not at all worth the price. My suggestion? Go down the street to Duke's. We ate there last night and ate like kings and queens for the same price as this poolside fare.

Aloha Sarah A Sorry to see the pricing for some of our items was high here at the Resort. We are happy to see the quality of food was acceptable and would like to suggest on a future visit you try our daily happy hour items which are a fantastic deal: $6 for green bean fries and chips and guacamole... Umalu's makes a good (and strong) Mai Tai. Everything on the lunch menu is delicious, especially the ahi nachos and chicken Mexican salad with cilantro lime vinaigrette. Outdoor seating area is nice and the staff is friendly. Great island reggae tunes to enjoy all day long!
