We were looking for a place to grab lunch in Kihei on Maui, and based on the Yelp reviews (thank you to my fellow reviewers for your reviews), we chose this place.
The directions from my Garmin had us turning into a dirt alley -...go a bit further, Garmin is confused.
This place is pure Hawaiian at least in our opinion. They offer fresh seafood, as well as classic mainland fare like burgers with a Nalu flair.
You get in line to the left of the reception station for lunch. Menus (breakfast, lunch) are on the right side of the waiting area, so you can figure out what you want. When you get to the reception area, you tell the person there what you want, then look at the bar menu and order drinks, then pay and tip in advance, and they give you a tray with silverware, napkins and a number.
You then go to the Pineapple over the bar, where they'll have your drinks made up hopefully, which you can use the tray to bring with if you want - give them your number (not the number "tent" as that's how your food is brought out.)
Okay, get through that, and pick a seat - it was nice and warm with breezes outside, so we sat outside. Inside, they have large walls of doors which are open, so you get less sunlight, but all the breezes anyway inside.
I strongly considered the Poke Bowl, but the Ahi Tuna Club looked like a better selection. The sandwich was served with fries or chips - I went with the chips based on the attendant's recommendation and they were good. The sandwich had a nice zing to it - I can't quite put my finger on the source, but it was tasty as you could ask for. I matched that with a Longboard Lager, which was cold and tasted good. The tall glass warmed quickly - I guess I wasn't drinking fast enough.
My wife had their Black & Blue Benedict, which she really enjoyed. Normally, the eggs are served with soft yokes, but she got hard yokes and figured it was the health department. It was served with slices of seared Ahi tuna and potato slices spiked with Furikake, which was very tasty.
You can get free water inside - it's cold, and has a slight lemon taste to it.
I can see why this was popular. The food was very good.More
