We came here for dessert after dinner. It was late, so the staff was a little slow, but it wasn't busy. For the late hour, it was decent food, but the service made the experience not seem worth it. We won't come back here again.

Kind of shabby and I don't think its part of the decor. Service was quite slow - they weren't that busy and the food was pretty tasteless. Disappointed.

Great classic 1950s themed diner. Great old-timely tunes and great staff. What more could you want? How about a huge burger with a genuine root beer float or old school milkshake? If ever in the Kihei part of Maui, stop in and give a try....‘Yeah baby that’s a what I like.’More

Neat little establishment of sorts, 50’s diner setup, including push button juke boxes at each table. Service was okay but not exceptional. Food, we’ll not sure other folks are giving this place 4 and 5 stars… but they need to get out more. I have...had some great Mahi Mahi sandwiches But this was at one of them. Three of us none of us had a fantastic plate but was OKMore

This review is really about the Roselani Ice Cream. If you are an ice cream lover you need to try it. It is very local to Maui. Peggy Sue's has a dipping station and typically has about a dozen flavors available. When we are on...Maui we typically will make it there two or three times.More

Don’t miss this one! The atmosphere is delightful, right down to the booth-side juke box selector. Their milkshakes are fabulous, as are their burgers. I’m particularly fond of their chili-cheese burger, and my husband loves the mushroom/Swiss burger. Service was excellent, and it’s just plain...fun! Outdoor seating is available, if that’s important to you.More

You have to be from St Louis to know what a "Slinger" is. In St Louis, there was a now closed business called OT Hodge Chili Parlors. They served what was called a Slinger which consisted of two cheeseburgers, a pair of fried eggs and...American fries or hash browns, blanketed with chili and sometimes red peppers. So, here we are on Maui where Loco Moco can be found everywhere on the Island. Yes some start with a base of rice, some with french fries. All have some sort of meat or fish. So there of course is a variation. It seems all include gravy and somewhere after the invention, fried eggs were added. Here in Maui, the Slinger is Loco Moko. As served at Peggy Sue's Diner in Kihei, they have two variations. One is with hamburger patties, the other, served during "Happy Hour", is a fried Loco Moco which incorporates chopped up hamburger. To tell the truth, this "Fried Moco Loco" which I and a companion ordered, was pretty good. Truth be told, it was our first meal after flying from North Carolina to Maui. After 12 hours of travel including a 2 hour layover, anything we ate was somewhere between great or fairly benign. The Moco Loco was on my radar for at least 6 months after starting research on great places to eat while visiting Maui. We flew, we landed, we checked in to our accommodations, we were all famished. So, we opted to go to Coconuts in Kihei. However, two of us just didn't relish having fish. So, it just so happened that Peggy Sue's was right next door. What really caught my eye though was the Route 66 sign in the window. Everyone knows about the (Mother Road) Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica California. Anyway, I terribly digress from this review, sorry. We found Peggy Sue's to be quite a typical however small diner, not unlike thousands of small diners found in the lower 48. Counters with spinning stools, tables for 4 with somewhat worn tops and steel legged chairs and that always fairly quaint atmosphere. The only thing missing were the little old blue haired waitresses with that funny cap and a napkin over the left side of their blouse/dress. The menu was fairly standard accept for the Loco Moco, which for someone looking for comfort food, this was just the ticket. My companion and I looked past the rest of the menu and ordered two Loco Moco's which consisted of french fries, chopped up Maui raised ground beef, fried eggs and gravy. To tell the truth, I was sort of yearning for some chili as well, however wanting to have the "authentic" version of the dish, we ordered the standard of the house. In reality, this was ultimate comfort food. It was an odd dish to say the least, however, I also love sushi, so go figure. The service was excellent. We were greeted in a timely manner by a cheerful young man. There were two other young fellas also working whom were dutifully putting together the current orders, of which there were quite a lot. Business being brisk did however bring our dinners quite promptly and with a smile and with the young man asking if we needed anything else. We did not and chowed down. To say the least, my first blush with this Hawaiian version of what we would call a Slinger back home was quite interesting. The beef had an excellent flavor, there was no heavy layer of fat, the eggs were cooked perfectly with the yolk being still liquid with a nice viscosity and the gravy being, well, brown, slightly salty but not overly so and with a nice viscosity itself. The serving was more than adequate for the price. The quality was most excellent. I couldn't eat it all I'm sorry to say. I would have liked to have come back for just a plain old cheese burger, however with so many great places to see and experience, we made only one trip to Peggy Sue's. It was pleasant, the food was excellent, the cost was appropriate for the local, the service was top notch by the tall young local and we left with a smile and a full stomach. I would not hesitate to recommend a stop at Peggy Sue's. I would however recommend trying several things from the menu with the Loco Moco being one and also the burger. This was indeed a great stop on our visit to Maui. For great comfort food, stop in at Peggy Sue's for great food and service!More

Don't miss the 50's/60's inspired diner. Funky decor, including a juke box. Happy hour - 20% off burgers and shakes; 50% off appetizers. Burger was big and juicy. Hand-crafted shake was thick and creamy. Staff friendly. Went back a 2nd time for ice cream cones....Delicious!More

Novelty 50’s decor was cool, shakes were great, burger was good, but the Buffalo chicken sandwich was HORRIBLE. There was an odd texture to the chicken, so we mentioned it to the waitress. She said they’ve had other complaints about the chicken, since they started...getting it from a particular warehouse. She asked if we’d like something else. I said, “how about a simple burger with ketchup only….and you don’t need to make the fries for it.” She said sure. When we got the bill, I was shocked that we were still charged for the chicken sandwich! My husband asked her…. shouldn’t the chicken sandwich be removed since it was sent back? She said her manager said no. She did offer a 10% discount. We expected to be charged for the replacement meal, but not the chicken sandwich. Very disappointed!More

Our experience here was interesting. Their shakes were REALLY good but their food was just okay. We had a group of 8 and there wasn't really any eating space so we got our food to go. We noticed several groups who ordered after us getting...their food first. When we got home a dish was missing- no big deal, we'll just call and pick it up since we're 5-10 minutes away. They never gave us a receipt so we couldn't prove what was missing, and then the staff on the phone seemed unsure how to help us. When we asked if we could just come pick up the missing dish they said they might be able to give a refund instead. When we insisted that we would just come pick it up they said ok. Instead of starting the food then, they waited to make the dish until my brother arrived and waited in line again- then the cook seemed to be arguing with my brother that they didn't mess up our order. In the end the lady at the register found our ticket and confirmed it did get messed up and mentioned how it had been happening that day a lot. Overall there was just a lot of unorganization. I'm not trying to be rude, but a lot of us didn't feel like the food was very memorable.More

We had just flown in and were looking for a hearty meal on the way to our resort. The interior was pretty cool retro decor, but we opted to sit outside. I had a grilled chicken sandwich, my husband had a Hawaiian 5-0 Burger and...we shared a chocolate shake. OMG, everything was DELICIOUS! The shake was to die for, and we both cleaned our plates. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a spot to fill you up. Or even if you’re just looking for a milkshake!More

Reminiscent of the venal booth and sofa jerk counter with stools. The burgers and chicken are good. Their poupo/appetizers are inexpensive and great with lots on the plate.
