My husband and I have eaten dinner here twice during different visits to Kauai. This February, I had a cup of the seafood chowder - served in a mug - and my husband had the calamari. We were both delighted with our choices. I had a bit of my husband's calamari and agreed that it was very fresh!

Four of us sushi fans went to dinner at the Dolphin and had super-great sushi and sashimi. We shared a large sashimi assortment (a number of fish varieties were offered) and three of the sushi rolls---fabulous! The sushi rolls were beautifully presented and were a treat for the eye as well as the taste buds. You can also get fresh... More

My wife and I went to the Dolphin and the experience was more or less inline with what their review score indicated. We ordered Rainbow Poke, Teriyaki Ahi and another dish that I don't remember the name. The poke was nothing special and the teriyaki ahi wasn't impressing either. It had no teriyaki flavor and the ahi was not of... More

The Dolphin is a fine seafood restaurant in all respects and you won't go wrong BUT if you want the finest sushi this side of Tokyo go straight to the Sushi Bar but only if Chef Andrew (Drew) is there. Honestly, we go three or four times during our annual three weeks in Kauai and never ever look at the... More

Stopped in here for a late night dinner after an all day tour. We ordered two of the special rolls and bowls of soup. The service was good, the food was good but I agree that the prices were a little steep for what it is.

This is such good Asian cuisine--even the fish chowder is the best I've had. Service as good as you would expect for such excellent food (thanks, William). Most wines run $9/glass. Classic Mai Tai is $13. Don't go for the view, just the food!

We ate here to try the sushi, and once we saw the prices I decided to get the fish and chips and my wife got a couple of rolls just to see if they were worth the very high prices. We consider ourselves to be experts when it comes to sushi as we eat it often and just about anywhere... More

Okay, maybe the night of 2/18/17 was just a bad night for the hostess, but she was unfriendly to people before us who also opted to go elsewhere and to our inquiries too. Now we LOVE the location in Hanelei but we will not tolerate spending our dollars for unfriendly service when there are other choices. It is not like... More

I had never tried Poke (a Hawaiian tradition of cubed raw fish on a bed of rice) and was a little leery of trying it, but I was so glad I got out of my comfort zone and went for it. It was the best Poke I tried on Kauai. The Dolphin was a great place for sushi and all... More
