Some of the best food we have had! The chicken and beef teriyaki is excellent! The portions are enormous. You will not be disappointed.

I live on Kauai so I have eaten here a few times. Always good food, fairly priced just wish they were open for dinner

Yummy YUMMY plate lunch. THE place to go for an authentic “plate lunch” while in Hawaii. Don’t be afraid to go where the locals go. This place is not located in the touristy area. You’ll find this little jewel in the area of town where the locals work. Nothing touristy or fancy about it. But it’s DEFINITELY your go to place to eat a real plate lunch. This place didn’t disappoint. The food was delicious and the picnic tables outside are just right for gobbling up a little piece of Hawaii. Some of the best food I had while on the island was right here. Glad I found it.

Recommended by a local. Most get the food to go but there are a few tables. We had one of the daily special with ahi and lau lau. The ahi was terrific and the lau lau a little bland. Offered option to have brown rice vs. white which was nice.

Got Mark's special consisting of beef stew, chicken katsu, teri beef, noodles, rice and mac salad. Everything was good and the meal was large enough to easily feed 2 people. I skipped breakfast this morning and still could not finish all of this meal. Order, pay at the counter, get a pager then go find a seat at one of the large picnic tables. Pager will tell you when food is ready. 3% fee for credit cards.

We went to Mark's Place and man we got a mean feed. We started with the Ahi smoked fish dip, followed up with Mark's Mix plate, Chicken Kastu plate, and a Loco mocco (the best I've had yet). We also got some of Mark's brownie for later. An absolute must when visiting Kauia. Bring your appetite.

We stopped by to get lunch after landing. The staff were friendly and made recommendations for us since we were not familiar with the menu. We ordered the loco moco and beef stew, both were tasty and sizeable. Wish the beef chucks were cut up a little more when served, and that we could sit down at the picnic tables, but other than that, we were very happy with the food, the price and the portions. Our kids asked to go back multiple times during our trip but we couldn't make it happen. Next time!

Don't go late or what you get is just terrible! Got a mixed plate today and all the meats were overcooked! Burnt teriyaki and chicken fired steak was way overdone! Save your $$ and go elsewhere!

Thank you for your very honest feedback on the meal you experienced the other day. To receive something that you expected to be of better quality is very disappointing in any category. Your feedback will be shared with our hard working crew to make them more aware of food quality and consistency of our products. Mark's Place has been in business on Kauai for over 20 years, and we truly believe that this was not a true representation of what Mark's Place has to offer our guests. We'd like to invite you to visit us again if you're in the Puhi area.

Food was ok but not worth the price. Short lady that waited on us was the rudest cashier I’ve ever encountered. Our trip to Kauai has been amazing with all the beautiful people we’ve met so she was definitely an exception. Wouldn’t visit this place again

It was only take- out food but it was delicious tasting. They give a lot of food. Had the beef stew and katsu. One of the favorite places for local grinds.

Nice girl at the front, terrible tasting food. I don’t like to dislike a food business (because I love food lol) but the food was not at all what I’d recommend in Hawaii. There are several other places with much better tasting Hawaiian food. I wouldn’t spend the money again.

Thank you for visiting us here at Mark's Place. Mark's Place has been in business for over 20 years, serving basic local fare that is not exactly considered "Hawaiian" food, but menu items that we think of as local comfort food, along with updated daily specials created by our hard working team. We strive to offer our guests the best possible tasting meals, and if you could spare some time to explain what you consumed and why you disliked your meal, we would greatly appreciate your additional feedback.

We enjoyed the tasty food at Mark's on our way to the airport for our flight home. Everything was delicious! We were there right at 11:00 a.m. when they opened. Since the Hawaii Safe Travels Program and mask mandate has ended as of March 25th (especially for outdoor locations), we were not sure why this restaurant still does not allow for eating their yummy food on the nearby picnic tables. That would have been so nice for us. We ended up having to eat it in our car in the parking lot of a nearby golf course. It also may have been nice to have a larger scoop of mac salad and more dipping sauce for chicken dishes. Overall, a really good choice for casual, local food. I would go back for sure!

Hi Angie, Thank you for visiting Mark's Place and enjoying your meal. Thank you also for your feedback on your meal, and we will take your suggestions about the food portions into consideration. Our company is very aware that the mask mandate and Safe Travels Program has ended for the state of Hawaii since March 25, 2022. Although we adhere to all mandates from the county and state, we still yet are unable to open up our picnic tables due to staffing issues. Unfortunately for us, we don't have the ability to keep these tables clean enough for our guests to enjoy their meal outdoors. Once we have the right amount of staffing on board, we will definitely be opening up our picnic tables to our guests.

Been going to Mark's Place for many years, always looking forward to my next meal there. Their regular menu has great island specialties (see their website) but for us, we always check out the daily specials. If you see something you like, make sure you get your order in advance since many dishes will sell out (lots of locals eat here too). You can place your order on their website or call (but may be hard to call during busy times of day). It's pretty rare that they run out of the regular menu items but it does happen at times. Also, terrific baked goods (lots of Hawaiian/Asian choices). We are so pleased they are able to stay open during the pandemic. Much Mahalo for all of the hard work and the Ono (delicious) food !!! Also, side note about parking. Not many spaces so please do not eat in your car in their lot. Plenty of spaces to park at the nearby park. Turn left outside of the industrial park that you're in, go up towards the Shell station near the main highway, it's on your left. Mahalo (thank you)!

I was excited to go to this food shack, as it is noted as a place to get good local foods, and not expensive. I called in advnace to ask about gluten-free options and was told that they had some. Upon arriving, I found out that the only GF options are rice and a lettuce salad with no dressing. Super-disappointing. I did have some rice, and lettuce, and some roast pork with no dressing. The pork was prepared fairly well, but had little taste; it was not even salted. I would not go back to this place. But others will not doubt find it accepatable. Make sure you have someplace to go to eat your food. All the picnic tables are closd.

Marks place is a fine place to taste some of the local fare. Takeout only - didn't have a wait to order (maybe a minute). They told me it would take 20 but only took about 7 minutes. We ordered a mini plate of the loco moco and the beef stew. The beef stew was well made, the meat was tender and overall was flavorful. We would order again. Ironically this is not at all a Hawaiian dish but it is solid nonetheless. The loco moco was okay. The patty was a touch dry and the gravy could have more seasoning, I'd probably not order this again as I had better on the island (notably Kountry Kitchen). Would probably be in my rotation if I was a local but definitely more 4 than 5 based on what we had.
