This is a "hole in the wall" Kauai restaurant. It had good reviews so we decided to try it. I do not eat fish & was at first afraid to get any of the soups.....all had fish cake in them. I asked for no fish cake & it was awesome. Restaurant is small with not much seating....we ordered it to... More

Hamura Saimin Stand has been a tradition since I was a young boy growing up on Kauai. I am now 61 years old living in Arizona however this is the first and the last place that I go too when visiting Kauai. "Out of the airport and straight to Hamura's." I have fond memories of the island and Haumra's always... More

Locals from all over the islands come for the noodles, not for the decor or service. The service can be slow at times and getting a seat is especially challenging at dinner, but the Saimin noodles and home made hot sauces are great. Be prepared to stand waiting for one of only 25 seats to clear. The food is inexpensive... More

People go to Hamura's for the 'ono (delicious) saimin. If you want fancy, don't go. You sit at a counter on wooden stools. There is no decor or ambiance. Usually you have to wait awhile because all the stools are full of happy diners. All they have is saimin and some side dishes. The special saimin has won ton, roast... More

Come for the noodles, not for the decor or service. In fact the service is less than favorable, but the Saimin noodles and home made hot sauces are a hit. Be prepared to stand waiting for one of only 25 seats to clear. Enjoy

The Saimen is delicious. It gets busy as hell here but someone needs to explain how this place past their health inspection. The tables are always a mess you can see raw food with cooked food together and I saw a mouse in the kitchen next to the giant can of Colman's mustard powder. Yuck! Won't go back.

Recommended by several locals. Glad I took the time to go out of my way for lunch at Hamura Saimin. Just have a seat at the counter and they'll come take your order. I noticed service for tourists versus locals was much different. Locals were greeted with a smile and hello. I was told to have a seat at the... More

Evidently Hamura's is a favorite of locals and tourists alike. The special saimin noodle bowl was recommended by another customer while we stood waiting for a seat. It was okay. However, the lilikoi pie was to die for. But individual serving sizes for take-out vary and I was disappointed that mine was pretty chintzy. The staff work hard, almost robotic,... More

When we went there was pent up demand for seating because the restaurant was closed for a couple of weeks. The place was packed with a continuous line inside and outside the restaurant throughout the entire day. It reminded me when we would go to restaurants on special occasions like Mother's Day. There is so much activity and it is... More

Our last day in Kauai - we decided to have a light lunch before our flight. Greasy spoons are our favorite. I also wanted to take home their chiffon pies. Even in sweltering humid heat in the middle of the day I wanted to eat there. (No air conditioning!) I will admit I enjoyed the saimin & prices were reasonable.... More
