During our recent visit, we went to check out Hamura saimin because my son loves noodles. The place was empty and we were the only customer at that time. We ordered the special saimin with pork barbeque. My son loved it and he told me to visit again before we leave the island. It is a nice and cozy place.... More

You have to go once! Flavors didn't do it for me, but some of the family liked it. Majority of customers were locals. Chicken skewers were good. Not much seating so be prepared to wait.

This is the place to go to experience local favorites. Always people waiting on line. You will eat at the counter and sit on small stools. Maybe not the best for children. Don't forget the Lilikoi pie.

This is a saimin place so that is what you order. The chicken and beef BBQ sticks are also musts. Three sticks and two large bowls of the “special” saimin with a Coke was $25 cash. At 11 am there were twenty locals and. we two haoles in the place. .

Right off the bat: there's no reservations, which can work for you or against you depending on when you arrive. Our first visit, there was almost no one in the restaurant, so we got to sit right down and order and eat our meal and it was fantastic, But when we came back THE NEXT DAY for a saimin lunch...... Great stop for lunch, dinner or a late night snack. If you've never had saimin noodles, have an open mind and try the saimin noodles and the pie.

So glad we went here after hearing a guy talking about it on the plane! You sit on stools at winding low counters throughout the small place. Service is very fast and efficient. It was a melting pot of different types of people all there for homemade noodle soup. We really enjoyed the food and throwback atmosphere. We'll be back!

We really enjoyed the simian here. There was a line out the door in the middle of the afternoon and it was worth the wait. Lots of spices for you to doctor up your dish if you wish.

This is where the locals eat. A great place to stop after a long plane ride. Just 3 minutes away. We landed in Lihue and was on our way to Princeville. I remembered this restaurant as a child and had to return to take hubby. Still the same. The saimin noodles and broth are to die for. I had a... More

Hot soup in Kauai? YES. Family owned counter seats fresh food from scratch made after you order. The soups are noodle based but not like ramen, the Special Saimin is a meal. And , to die for, is the lilikoi chiffon pie. Light flaky crust filled with a smooth light chiffon that is passion fruit flavored that is amazingly good.
