By far the best saimin we had on our whole trip. Kind of a shack but atmosphere abounds. Highly recommended Must do!!

This place is like eating in a small bungalow without air conditioning. If it did not have such a popular reputation, most diners would probably not patronize this place. Here you would try to consume a bowl of hot saimin noodles in the same room as the kitchen, wiping sweat from your face and head as the hot soup makes... More

I went there on 9/24 which was closed for annual Sept. Vocation! On 9/25 I had lunch there for its 1 st day reopening . A lot of people as usual , most of them were tourist. I tried BBQ sticks, special saimin, shrimp tempura and the chiffon cake. Chinese pretzel and Managua were out of stock! This shop was established... More

After 15+ years of Hamura's visits, my observations: Basic? Yep Delicious? Yep Any semblance of ambience? Nope Formica counters with first-come-first-served service? Yep Hot? Yep Friendly service? Nope Air conditioned? Nope Inexpensive? Yep Worth it? Yep

We were vacationing in Kauai and a friend from Oahu met up with us near the end of our trip. She said that a bunch of her Kauai friends said we HAD TO try this amazing ramen place. I don't know if she over hyped it, or if I'm spoiled by all of the good ramen in Los Angeles, but... More

This is the place locals go to eat! Inexpensive but cash only. My mom grew up on Kauai and has taken us here for years when we visited the island. This is a cash only little hole in the wall place with the BEST Saimin (noodle soup). They have monapua Tuesday -Thursday too!!! Which is hard to find on Kauai.... More

So my husband from Kauai has kept talking about this place and we finally made it over. Some of the best food I've ever had, hands down. I'm not a saimin person, but it was good... but I loved the chicken skewers and was amazed by the fried shrimp. I just had dinner, and writing this review makes me hungry!

I'm sorry I never got this place. Growing up here I remember eating here often because all my friends loved it so much. But then I lived in Japan for a year. I came back and ate here awhile ago and was really disappointed. My saimin was luke warm, salty, the noodles were weird, and the whole thing just really... More

The chicken skewers were good, but the saimin is too salty for my taste. I didn't have the pie so can't comment on that. It was standing room only with a line out the door when we were there and it was mostly locals, so they obviously are doing something right. The restaurant itself has no atmosphere with old tables... Lived up to its reputation. Great food. Good service. Ladies were friendly and loved it when we complimented their food. Don't leave without trying the lilikoi chiffon pie. Heaven!

Thank Jeff S
