Have been to Kintaro before. Cutting to the chase, it's ok. With the advent and availability of sushi everywhere, theirs is on par with what you find at the sushi place near you that has 3 or 4 better places nearby. If you go, you'd be wise to do a Teppan table. Skip it and go elsewhere and have fresh... More

Good taste, but did not receive sushi order until the dinner was over. Drinks were good. Lack of waiter/waitress service.

I'm not sure what the fuss is about this Japanese restaurant. We've eaten here many times in our annual sojourns to Kauai. It's a fave among locals, but is just okay to above average for our tastes. There are few unique items on the menu worth checking out---salmon cheeks, butterfish & some of their sashimi. But for the most part... More

Kintaro's is very popular with locals but I dont find it that great. Its loud and the furnishings are old. The staff is not particularily friendly. The food is OK but I think there are lots of better places. I have been there several times and I just don't get the draw but it is busy so maybe I'm missing... More

Kintaro's is a fixture on Kauai & very popular with locals & tourists alike. We've been eating here for years & enjoy the atmosphere especially after their latest renovation. The service is usually very good; waitresses and waiters are typically attentive & professional. With that said, the food menu is just OK; could use some improvement IMO. I would really... More

Several people at our hotel including some "locals" recommended Kintaro, a Japanese/teppanyaki restaurant a short drive from our hotel (Hilton Garden Inn). The prices are very reasonable given that the quality of the food is outstanding. We sat at the teppanyaki table with a local couple and their son and enjoyed their company as we were entertained by the chef.... More

WE were recommended to this site by our guide on the inner tube adventure- it definitely lived up to her review (thanks Kulio!!) When we got back from the tubing adventure (our last night on the island) I looked up the Kintaro restaurant to see where it was. I was surprised to see that they typically booked up their reservations,... More

The food is good, although quite expensive and portions are small.the restaurant is always packed so that says something about this establishment

This was a recommendation from a friend and I was really looking forward to it. We were a party of 10. 5 of us really liked what we got and the other 5 did not. Reservations are a must.

Really big restaurant, for a sushi place. It's very unassuming. Looks like it's permanently closed, since there are no windows, and it looks like the fake windows they have are boarded up. That said, the fish is really fresh, the rolls are great, and the service was fast and friendly.
