This small unassuming market off the Kuhio Highway is a must see in Kauai if you love Poke! Last I checked they are taking credit cards as payment. Honestly, out of the 4 different poke spots I’ve tried in Kauai this place has the best flavor and value. $8 for a poke bowl with quite possibly the freshest Poke I’ve had is unbelievable! I came back multiple times and would have more if it weren’t for their limited hours. If you’re coming to Kauai and love Poke this place is a must. I wanted to come back and try their Poke Nachos but could not fit that in my itinerary, hope you can try and fit that in

My husband and I were on the hunt for a Hawaiian plate and we stumbled upon Pono Market after getting our children pizza a few doors down. We each got different selections for our entrees and my husband also got some ube square pie. Everything was fresh and tasty. The plates also come with rice and pasta salad, although it is so much food we were plenty full without eating of the extras. Highly recommend.

Pono Market is hoppin’ from the time it opens at 6 am. This is the place to go to grab your poke (several varieties) to go, sushi, or anything else that looks good in the deli section. It’s also reasonably priced compared to other places in the island. You know it’s good when it’s where the locals go. Mahalo!

After reading all the rave reviews we were very excited about getting a takeout lunch from Pono Market. We both got brown rice with half sesame ahi poke and half spicy poke, plus a bento box. Both poke versions were bland and unexceptional. The first was fine, but had little flavor. No sesame flavor at all, and very little spiciness to the other version. Chicken in bento box was good, but not exceptional.

This is a relatively small carry out restaurant. They carry a variety of authentic Hawaiian food. My husband alway gets the Kalua Pig and I always get the Pork Lau Lau (chunks of pork wrapped in taro leaves and then steamed). They and the macaroni salad are onolicious!!!

Limited entrees that change daily. Fried chicken every day and it is delicious. If you haven't tried Hawaiian style fried chicken you should do so here. The kalua pork, and laulau we're also very good. Did not try the poke. Have visited 3x in this trip.

This was genuine Hawaiian food! Delicious. The staff were very good to explain the various plates that were offered, which helped us make our choices. We had the fried chicken, pork Lau Lau, crab poke and scallop poke. The tastes were new to us, but we found the food tasteful and the people friendly and eager to help us discover true Hawaiian cuisine.

11 years later...I'm glad this place is still in business! And it's probably the cheapest take out food you can find! $10.50 gets a you Poke bowl! I was shocked at the low price, it didn't seem real! The Poke was fresh, tender, soft, flavorful, and plentiful! Pono Market also offers a variety of hot Hawaiian take out food as well. No seating area, but if the weather is nice you can do a short walk to the beach. If they have Haupia Pie, get it! There is nothing quite like it in California...sweet purple potato, fresh coconut cream, whipped cream, coconut shreds, on a perfect pie crust.

I love Pono Market! It is our ritual for our last day on Kauai to grab food from Pono Market and eat at Kapa'a Beach. The portions are huge and you can get delicious local food. On our last visit, I got their Hapa Plate which comes with rice, a hot entree (I chose meatloaf), mac salad, and spicy tuna poke. I also bought some ala carte scallop poke and a sweet potato coconut pie (think ube AND haupia layered in a pie with whipped cream). The hubs got a #1 which came with rice, hot entree (he chose fried chicken), and mac salad. The staff is always so nice here and the food is amazing, which is why we always go back. You still have to do takeout sit they haven't allowed seating since COVID, but the beach is only 2 blocks away so it's a win-win!

This is a must destination for every visit by my family. Whether it's the lau lau or the poke, this is where the locals go (and I say that as a former local...). And the staff are very helpful. Just be there before noon when many of the fresh hot dishes are sold out...

When we are in Kauai we always make sure to hit the Pono Market. This little place has great poke, Kahlua pork, musubis etc. You cannot go wrong here if you like fresh tasty food.

I ate Poke every day. The locals told me anywhere with "Market" in the name is the freshest, grocery stores are the next best and food trucks are better than restaurants. They were correct. Pono Market Sesame Ahi was my favorite and the most fresh. Had it back to back days

I typed in "poke" to the maps app on my phone, and ended up here. The place was fairly busy but the staff were incredibly efficient. I chose a salmon poke bowl. I made the right choice. One of the best things I ate in all of Hawaii. I want to go back just so I can try all the other fish. Coming from Sydney, these poke bowls are very different to how they make them here, so so good.

Market is small and a hole in the wall but has such delicious food. We stopped here for some box lunches/plate lunch for our day. They didn't disappoint. The food was great and the prices too. They had many local foods to choose from. We were there a little early and missed some of food that was just starting to be available. One of our favorite places for food.

Great value for delicious native dishes. Very generous portions. They have a set menu but rotate their selections; every day is different. Take out only - well packaged. Go early to make sure they don't run out of your favorite. Open Mon - Fri.
