For an outdoor family gathering of three generations we ordered four baby pies to serve 15 of us. Our 14-year old said they were the best pies ever! The lillikoi cheesecake came out tops in our ratings, with macadamia nut a close second. We also enjoyed the super lemony pie and the mango-lillikoi pie. As if this weren’t enough, several family members stopped on the way back to pick up more! Just the best pies ever!

We visit multiple times each time we visit Kauai, and we did the same on this trip. We had the lilikoi cheesecake, blueberry pina colada, and lilikoi pies and all of them tasted great. Prices for a slice are a little more expensive than comparable snacks/desserts, but the quality and taste of the pies are great.

Before we left for our trip, we had read about this place. My husband called (from Illinois) to inquire about the flavors of pie they had. We arrived at The Right Slice before they opened for the day, so we had to wait until later in the day to sample the goodies. Later in the afternoon, we stopped in and Lynn was very friendly and helpful-we had a hard time making up our minds!! We decided on the Blueberry Pina Colada and Tangelo-SOO very good!! We wanted to taste some of the others, so we took Macadamia Nut and Island Lemon with us for a snack later-what a great place!! Thanks Lynn!! Definitely worth the trip :) Too bad there is not a store near us at home!!

We ordered a Shepard’s Pie. Was told the price was $55 + tax + $10 “Deposit” for the glass pie pan.
The pie was delicious BUT when I returned the glass pie pan in order get my $10 deposit returned - my $10 deposit was refused!
I was told ( for the 1st time) that their “new” policy was that “deposits” are NOT returned!
But, “chip” is given in return for a future purchase of “up to $10!”
This is a CHEAP and deceptive way for them to increase sales AND profit
I recommend not to patronize this business

First, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I also thank you for sharing that you still think our pies are delicious after all of these years you have supported us.
Special ordering one of our family size pot pies that feeds up to 8 people is very much appreciated in these challenging times. Not many meals for up to 8 people for $55 these days!
From the conversations you had with both my staff and myself, I appreciate that you have 'supported' us for so many years.
It is unfortunate, that after all of that 'support', you would leave such a negative review, especially during these challenging times. Many of our off island visitors are ever so grateful that we are still in business!
As we explained in our conversations, the pan deposit is something we have done since we sold our very first whole pie over 11 years ago.
While we have modified our policy along the way, this change was made some time ago. This change is not 'new' as you state.
The pan return is issued in a store credit. This is clearly shown on our pricing board in store, as well as on our website when you order any large pie. It is also something that my staff is rigorously trained to tell customers when they take their order.
As explained, the store credit can be used for absolutely anything in our store, it does not have to be pie. Perhaps purchasing a bag of Anahola Granola or KO Bakery cookies, or even a piece of art from a local artist.
Since you dropped the pan off in person, you were already here, so you certainly could have spent your $10 that day, instead of accepting the $10 credit token. This token will not expire, as we explained. You are welcome to use it on your next visit, or stop by and use it before your current trip is over, since you also expressed your concerns that we would not be in business on your next visit.
Since you feel so strongly about not supporting my small business any longer, perhaps you can use it to purchase one of the many other small business' items we carry in our bakery shop.
Your anger and frustration were very clear in our conversations and we did our best to listen and hear your concerns. Fortunately for my staff and my business, I will not be bullied into changing policy.
I hope you find new small businesses in your future visits to Kauai to support, since you won't be back to our bakery. I understand your decision, accept it, and wish you all the best.
Oh, and as for our pricing, it is interesting that this concern was not voiced by you in any of our previous conversations. hmmm...This is Kauai, that is part of visiting our beautiful island.

We’ve been coming to Kauai for 26 years and stay several months. We have enjoyed these pies for years but the price has risen unbelievably over the years. Although their product is very good, they have priced themselves out for us.

So happy to hear you are fortunate enough to visit Kauai so often! What a blessing.
Pricing is always a challenge...especially here on Kauai. Having to ship everything to the island from flour to pie pans to equipment keeps us constantly looking for ways to save...
But bottom line is we need to pay our employees a living wage and that has to be our priority.
Fortunately, we have been able to keep our prices the same for two years now...but yes, nothing ever gets cheaper around here...so expect to see prices go up again sometime in the future.
But keep visiting Kauai and hopefully on special occasions you will consider supporting our small business and our staff once again.

My companion and I always seek the best desserts on every trip, so we had to go to The Right Slice which gets rave reviews. We were disappointed, while acknowledging that our standards for desserts are high. We were going to get two flavors and share each, but the slices are so small that we each went with the well-reviewed coconut nut pie. This is the smallest slice of pie I have ever seen, such a disappointment for $7.50 which is the most I've ever paid for pie. The filling was very good, and a creative pairing of caramelized coconut topping with a pecan-pie type filling and nuts. The crust was pretty soggy, not al all flaky. Such a disappointment as he had high hopes for this place.

so sorry to hear we did not live up to your expectations. We don't do a coconut nut pie...so I think the pie you may have enjoyed is the Chocolate Coconut Macaroon pie. I can't say what else it may have been from your description of coconut and nuts together? But I am not certain, as this pie bakes low and slow in the oven for quite a while, so we have never had anyone say the crust was soggy on that flavor before.
Sorry I am not able to give you more info from your description.

I read a review saying that the The Right Slice served the "best pie ever", which drew us in to having to try it. We are both pie lovers. I will say it was good, but I can't go so far as saying it was the best pie I have ever had . 5" pot pie was $15.00, and a slice of pie was $7.25. Not sure it was worth that price to us, but I am not sorry that we tried it.

What amazing pies!! Stopped here for a quick slice of pie as we were sightseeing. Delicious!! Lilikoi cheesecake was creamy, dreamy and delicious. Mango lilikoi was like a Hawaiian take on a peach pie … it was fantastic too!! Our whole group loved the different pies we tried. You can buy a slice of select sweet pies, whole sweet or savoury pies are available too and the sweet pies come in two sizes. Great bakery, right on the highway so easy to find and makes for a great stop. Or pick up a frozen savoury pie, take it home and warm it up for dinner!! You can’t go wrong. Enjoy!!

It's a quaint little place right by the highway with a few parking g spots right up front. We got the mango/passion fruit pie, island lemon, and the passion fruit cheesecake - all were different and delicious. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a homemade piece of pie.

The Mango Lilikoi cheesecake is the MOST AMAZING desert we have ever had. Light, airy and full of tropical creamy flavor. Also, if you're in need of an easy dinner you will not go wrong with the chicken pot pie.

This place has some unique pies that are distinctly Hawaiian...and they taste amazing. Didn't have a chance to try the savory pies unfortunately but did try 3 sweet pies and loved them all. The lilikoi cheesecake is basically the best cheesecake I've ever had.

We stopped in on our way home from travelling the area. My wife and I had a slice of pie to go. We had the lemon and Mac nut pie. The pies were fresh and yummy. The price of the pie seemed expensive but nonetheless we enjoyed the dessert.

We tried various pies plus the chicken pot pie. My favorites were the Island Lemon and Chocolate Coconut Macaroon. Hubby wasn't impressed with the coconut cream. The slices are pretty small for what they charge. The chicken pot pie was wonderful with the absolute best flaky crust. We stopped here more than once, in spite of the prices.

Wonderful local joint baking up the best sweet and savory pies. The lemon is my absolute favorite but the lilikoi cheesecake and blueberry were so good too. Definitely worth a visit and make sure to try several flavors.

As Kauai residents, we have been to Right Slice several times. Desserts are great, but the savory pies are even better. Delicious vegetarian options. For me, crust is usually just something to keep the filling from sticking to the pan. But their crust is good enough to eat by itself.
