We waited about 15 minutes next to a couple people who had been waiting about 35 minutes when they’d been told the wait was 20 minutes. But in the time we stood there, no one acknowledged us, not even to put our name down. Several...groups of people paid and left while we were there. There are other restaurants out there that would at least greet us and tell us how long the wait would be. I guess they didn’t need our business.More

Had a fabulous breakfast here on our first morning in Hawaii. We walked from our hotel (Kings Land) and got right in at 8:30 on a Thurs. My friend and I both ordered the banana pancakes with bacon - amazing! I’m not much of a...pancake fan but these would turn me into a devotee. If you look up fluffy pancakes in the dictionary, there should be a picture of these. Their house-made bacon is thicker and fattier than standard American bacon but incredibly flavorful. Definitely worth a try. Our blonde waitress was attentive, sassy and fun, and gave us some good recommendations for dinner and shopping near by. Lovely spot for a splurge breakfast while in Waikaloa.More

Some of the meals we ordered were better than others. Didn’t enjoy the French toast. We know everyplace is short staffed but that doesn’t excuse unpleasant staff. There didn’t seem to be any management working the day we were there which could explain why there...were problems.More

My husband had lunch post golf and we decided to try brunch. The Banana Brown Butter Pancakes and the Island French Toast were very good. Bloody Marys and Passion Fruit Mimosa were very good. The bacon had great flavor.

We had great meals at this restaurant. They have several different styles of loco moco. On the brunch menu is corn beef hash. My friends said it was the best they’ve had. They serve locally grown coffee from Jara Farms and you can buy it...by the pound.More

Don’t understand how this place is so highly rated. Came here for breakfast. Service was slow, long wait to be seated and place was empty. Messed up orders and waitress was clueless. Looks like the manager rolled in about 20 minutes after we arrived and...plopped her butt at the bar on her phone, helped the staff zero which was obviously needed because line was stacking up at the door and guests being ignored. We almost left when we first walked in and we honestly should have. To add to it didn’t even make it to the parking lot before I started to feel sick. Whoever manages this place needs to figure out either how to do so or be replaced. I felt more like I was at a truck stop restaurant instead of what’s supposed to be a nice dining experience. Completely disappointed. Don’t recommend at all. Wants to be a nicer establishment than it actually is.More

Very disappointing! We both order the Island Style breakfast. The papaya was MIA. Over easy eggs were a messy soup. The bacon was Terrible: some nearly raw and others too crisp. Marking this off our list.

We were excited to try the Mai Grille. Upon check in we were met with hand sanitizer and a sign up sheet for contact tracing. My husband ordered eggs, with a side of bacon, and rice. I ordered a breakfast burrito. We had two coffees....My husband's breakfast was average at best. My burrito was awful. It was smothered in guacamole even though there was no mention of avocado in the description on the menu, so I wasn't sure why it was on the food. It truly ruined the meal for me as I don't like avocado, and I didn't have time to send it back. The coffee was good but not $12.00 worth. The service was just ok... We had to ask several times for coffee refills. They weren't that busy and I just wasn't that impressed. It was overpriced and really an average experience.More

We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon in early December 2021. We stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa Village and ended up at the Mai Grille for breakfast/brunch our first morning there. The food was very good, not a lot of options but I consider this...the hallmark of a good restaurant so I don't consider this a negative. Our first day there Katelyn was our server, and she was the BEST SERVER WE'VE EVER HAD, ANYWHERE. She made us feel welcome at the island, and at the restaurant, and she really felt like a good friend that we had known forever, and we had literally just met her. She gave us tons of great advice on what to do on the island, and we ended doing most of her recommendations, and because of her, we had one of the best weeks of our lives. I can't possibly elaborate enough about how special this girl is, and how we literally owe our honeymoon to her. Had we not met her our first morning in Hawaii, we would've spent who knows how much time trying to figure out what to do there, and I doubt we would've came up with things that were half as incredible as she recommended. This girl was the BEST and I really hope we get to come back soon to see her again! Thank you SO MUCH Katelyn, we miss you!!!More

There were less than 30 people attending. Tables set up outside were positioned to where some people could barely see the tiny temporary stage. Dancers did their best. Food was scarce and just okay. Saw waiter put dirty dishes on the same tray beside the...desserts she was passing out. We were very disappointed with the whole set up. Spend your $350 some place else (we asked for coffee to go with dessert and we were told coffee was an additional cost).More

We were there right at 8:00 at opening. Sat outside on the covered patio, enjoying expansive view of the golf course and mountains. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. The menu choices were all so good it was hard to choose. My vegetarian option was...delicious, as was my husband’s coconut French toast, eggs and bacon. Yes, I’d go back.More

Best Spam I have ever had. I asked for it to be crispy and it was but still creamy inside. Beautiful view. Really enjoyed my breakfast of eggs, rice, Spam, toast and papaya. Pancakes were really good, too. I love that they have fresh squeezed...orange juice. Good coffee. Delicious! Wish I found this one before my last breakfast.More

We ended up eating here twice. Once for lunch and once for breakfast. Food: Portions are *huge*. My daughter and I split the French toast and we were really full. Burgers were also giant. The Cobb Salad was fabulous. Drinks: The Ube Lemon Drop was...insanely good. The beer comes in a cold glass. The Bloody Marys were very yummy. Staff is great. Friendly. Helpful. We have weird food allergies and they were really nice about making sure our food was safe for us to eat. Definitely add this restaurant to your trip.More

We ate breakfast here. Limited menu but great selection. The banana brown butter pancakes were excellent. Served with choice of meat and 3 eggs. Unique foods offered. Papaya stuffed with yogurt and granola and local sweet bread french toast was a favorite in our party....Beautiful views of golf course and old lava flows.More
