Stay away. Dont be fooled by the pictures the food looks nothing like whats on Trip Advisor! Let’s first start off by saying there is not much to eat around the Location around the national volcano park. The struggle was real finding a restaurant that...was open. My wife and I got three pizzas because the reviews said that they were so amazing. However after spending $50 for three small pizzas that were legitimately a frozen pizza put in the microwave. I would rather have eaten nothing then have spent the money on these nasty pizzas. They also would not let you in if you we’re unvaccinated, this is almost 3 years after Covid so we had to take it to go. Both my wife and I got sick and did not even finish one. Stay away!More

You know when there’s nothing to eat in the big island after 8 PM and you go to a restaurant to eat it was really tough to be expected to pay for a mask only to walk 5 feet to my table and sit down...and take it off and also be asked to show my vaccine card. Nowhere else on any part of any island in Hawaii that we went to on this trip required such a thing! They only got our business because it was the only choice we had to eat! To top it off it’s overly priced.More

Don’t go if you don’t have vax proof. Was denied even a to-go order because we didn’t have our vax cards or masks on us since it’s not longer required. Terrible!!

Only a 6-minute drive from the National Park, this small informal restaurant has a surprisingly creative and diverse menu. Our waitress was very friendly and our meals were excellent.

We visited (luckily) an hour before the cafe closed on a Monday evening after visiting the lava flow at night. Unfortunately we didn’t have masks so couldn’t eat in however, the hostess was extremely helpful and allowed us to order takeaway pizza. The pizza was...wood fired and delicious. It took 20 mins from ordering to collecting it. Highly recommend.More

The food was very good. We class perhaps the best in Volcano. They are trying to go interesting, creative, complex dishes and they succeed. Service was friendly and professional. They observe careful Covid restrictions still (April 2022) and require a vaccine card for admittance. The...place is small and you need a reservation for dinner—by phone only. On the phone they will remind you of their vaccine requirement. Aside from that reminder, there’s no reason to limit reservations to phone, and I would love to see management provide a different way to reserve through of the many apps or websites. Would love to dine there again, definitely!More

Ohelo is a relatively small restaurant, big on flavor. Vaccination cards and masks were required. Once seated, we enjoyed a cocktail in this homey and attractive space. Our appetiser was incredibly good -- I highly recommend it: Wood-Fired Cauliflower. As it says on the menu,..."Macadamia Nuts, Parmesan, Creme, Garlic Baguette" but it's better than the text describes. Of course, the local crushed macadamias give it a Hawaiian angle. I had the Ka'u fish, which this night was marlin, cooked to my liking which for me means medium rare, moist. My wife had the pork chops and she was very happy eating them. We would recommend Ohelo Cafe to anyone visiting the Volcano area.More

Made a reservation which I would strongly recommend as it gets busy. The choice of meals is varied. I didn’t gave the pizza but it looked really good with a thin base. The food is freshly cooked, tasty and a reasonable sized portion. Cheerful service

Great food but very small, cramped space. The service was good. The place was extremely busy- they couldn’t seat us- so- they did provide a take-out option. Call well in advance

We stopped here after a full day of hiking in the park and before heading back in to see the lava at night. They were kind and gave us a last minute reservation at opening. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We...had the Hawaiian fish, lamb chops, steak and a pizza. We had the oven fired cauliflower for an appetizer and the trio of desserts. Everything was great. Really happy we found this place. We had one of best meals on the island here.More

The seafood pasta was incredible!! Small restaurant with a lot of safety precautions still due to covid. Make sure you call ahead to make reservations and bring your vaccine card. You won’t regret it!

The best meal we had in Hawaii, hands down. The food was amazing and the staff was super responsive and friendly. The cauliflower, the house salad, the shrimp risotto! We were stuffed but took the homemade napoleon dessert home with us!

I have no doubt this restaurant is great if you have a sit down meal. It is essential to make an advance reservation to do this. We did not, and just picked up pizza to go. It was average at best. If you do takeout,...order something else.More

I don't know if they have a kid's menu. This is a smaller restaurant that I wouldn't take a child under 12 to, as this cafe is more appropriate for couples who want to have a nice fine dining experience with conversation... More
