Learned about them on TripAdvisor and delighted we did! Without a GPS map we would still be looking for them. A house converted to restaurant and gallery, with some open-air outbuildings, in a garden / park, that is also an art gallery and museum. Peaceful and beautiful. On a rainy day the house was warm and inviting. Owner Ira Ono... More

Cafe Ono is wonderful option just outside the national park. Very satisfying, full meal including unique soup, salad, bread and tasty vegetarian / vegan entrees. Don't go if you crave meat. We can vouch for the lasagna, panini and Mexican casserole. All without breaking the bank, plus it was open for lunch when others were closed. Gallery on property offers... More

Avoid chain restaurants when in Hawaii! Eat a places like this! You eat in the garden amongst beautiful scenery. The meals are fresh and they prepare specials daily that were amazing. My husband's favorite was a mushroom seaweed soup. He said it was his favorite meal of our 2 week vacation! You can shop a little while you wait and... More

This is a vegan restaurant. My husband is a giant meat eater. He didn't mind eating here at all. They given you really big portions, you will not leave hungry. Free refills on soup. You can't go wrong. They close at 3 pm.

We went a few times to cafe Ono for a morning coffee and slice of cake. The food is organic and quite tasty. We had a nice time talking with cafe owners and local customers.

My husband and I loved Cafe Ono. It's only open for lunch. When you pull into the parking lot it's not immediately clear where to go but we found it! Everything on the menu is vegetarian. We got the lasagna and Mexican casserole. Both were delicious and both came with hearty homemade soups, salads and purple sweet potato chips (so... More

What a delicious and nutritious place!!! My husband and I are still talking about how wonderful this restaurant/ art gallery/ garden was. The food was so fresh and an amazing value. I loved the balsamic vinaigrette so much that they gave me the recipe! This was the best reasonably-priced meal that we had on our entire vacation.

Had lunch in this tiny cafe adjacent to the nice (and tiny) art center/shop. There isn't much choice in food around the Volcano area and this was my favorite meal. Vegetarian/vegan -- simple salads, soups and a tasty lasagne. All fresh.

The food was very tasty, and probably the healthiest thing we ate in the islands. The only thing to be aware of is that the "Ono" in the cafe's name is the owner's name, NOT the main course. Everything is fresh, kosher, and vegetarian. The owner and people who work there are super nice, and will tell you about some... More

Stopped by for lunch based on other TripAdvisor reviews. Organic restaurant set in an art gallery/art store. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Met the owner, Ira Ono.. quite a character. A definite stop if you're in Volcano.
