Well, the place just burned down after taking loving care of us for many delicious years. I'm hoping..., REALLY hoping they will return. They are loved by the community and have the best cheese enchiladas and frijoles anywhere on the planet! Can't wait to eat them again!!!!!

This is the best restaurant in Pahoa, with all the delicious Mexican dishes you would expect and more, like yummy cheese burgers, steak and fresh local fish! But unfortunately, in the wee hours of the morning on January 15, 2017 a fire ripped through the restaurant, the Akebono Theater and a pawn shop. All are now gone, but owner Sal... More

Pahoa fire officials have declared Luquin's Mexican Restaurant to be a total loss, along with the historic Akebono Theater. Hopefully, they will rebuild the only Mexican food establishment in Puna.

In the last couple decades we watched Luquins grow, and it grew for good reasons. It has doubled in size, adding dining rooms and a whole new bar. When it's busy you might have to wait a minute for the complimental chips and salsa because they cook their chips fresh. It's been a favorite for our, and all the local... More

It's not fancy. The dark furniture and worn tile floors are depressing. It is quite large, so can get busy. The breakfasts were easily the best we found in Pahoa and rival good, basic breakfasts anywhere. Deserves 5 stars for breakfasts but probably 3-4 stars overall (we didn't try other times). I am particular about my pancakes. Too many places... More

Luquin's is one of the best Mexican restaurants on the east side. The prices are reasonable and the food is great!! The portions are good size. Awesome salsa!

We had dinner hear, yes, it was a busy night, however, it was around an hour and 15 minutes to get a plate of enchiladas and a taco salad. The salad was soupy, the "shredded beef" was nearly all fat globs. The waitress was great, and did the best she could, but I'd pass on this place if I were... More

We have lived in Pahoa for about a year, it's time I shared one of the places we frequent! Luquin's isn't a fancy place at all. Some might be tempted to call it a "dive." However, often the most ONO grinds are found at places just like this. They have an extensive menu of homestyle Mexican food and do "American"... More
