I called and made a reservation for two at 7pm, the last dinner time on a Monday evening. I knew I was running a few minutes behind schedule, so I called at 5:30 and asked for a 7:30 time to be safe. The hostess said...no, so I said we are rushing and will try our best to be there by 7pm. When we arrived at 7:10, the hostess walked to our truck and asked if we were here for pick-up. I said we have a 7pm reservation and we are 10minutes late. She said she didn't have my name for the reservation or my phone #. She said she will go and check with the manager about taking us. She came back out and said the manager said no. So we said we'll take our business to Hilo Bay Cafe and left. I would have given them no stars since I wasn't even offered a seat at the bar but this review required at least one.More

As our favorite dine-in restaurant in Pahoa, a group of friends went to Kaleo's last week. When patrons are seated they no longer wear face masks. However, the waiter went from table to table, taking orders and talking to the guests with his mask around...his chin. This made me very uncomfortable since the virus can be spread quickly and unknowingly due to these kinds of actions. The food continues to be excellent. We'll order take-out next time.More

Took a road trip to Pahoa and had an amazing lunch at Kaleo’s. Due to the quarantine, this was my first restaurant experience in months. Our server, Marita, was so friendly and had great suggestions and provided excellent service! The calamari and one of the...daily specials, garlic pasta with shrimp, were absolutely delicious and the leftovers warmed up nicely for dinner! Will definitely go back!More

We enjoyed two great take out meals from this restaurant because we were dining during the Covid 19 pandemic. Ribs were goood, curry was excellent.

A terrific restaurant with many options but for 10 years I return for the Kalua pork and cabbage. They have perfected the recipe and I don't look at any other choice. We go several times when we are Hilo side and sometimes make a special...trip just for their food. Did I mention the lilikoi cheesecake with oreo crust !!!!!!!! Have mercy but save some room:)More

I was hoping to meet my husband for dinner at Kaleo’s. Unfortunately the parking lot was full. However the parking attendant was continuing to let cars into the overflowing parking lot. I could barely manage to get my car out of the parking to lot...to find alternative parking. When I politely suggested to the parking lot attendant that he tell patrons the parking lot was full, prior to them pulling into the already full lot, he responded with “Well Boo Hoo!”. Really? What a way to treat potential customers! I managed to find a way out of the parking lot & drove directly home. I’m not inclined to support a business who treats their customers this way, before they even walk through the front door.More

This was an excellent stop for lunch. Good food and excellent friendly service. We sat out front and watched the traffic and entertaining Pahoa people. If you've been to Pahoa you know what I mean. If you have time go on thru on Highway 130...and see the damaged, destroyed areas from the lava flows. Fascinating, but depressing too. The resilience of the people rebuilding will amaze you. Aloha!More

We reserved here ahead of time based on a suggestion by our host. We reserved for 7pm because we were arriving and driving from Kona that afternoon and were unsure of timing. We were ahead of schedule and they say us an hour early even...though it was packed. We were on their front porch. What a great first night. It was pouring tropical rain as we sat and enjoyed tropical drinks and curry and Kalbi. Food was great. Service was great. Tight parking but they had someone directing so no big deal.More

I had a great lunch with great friends. We stopped here on our way to the Volcano Park, and had an excellent plate of fish and chips. Definitely a thumbs up for me.

Friendly server. Food came out super fast! We really enjoyed our appetizers (calamari, spinach and feta spring rolls), but the entrees were ho-hum. We both had a pasta dish. They were lacking flavor and came with large chunks of onion. Just ok and we won't...hurry back.More
