3.5 stars for the good food and good service we enjoyed at the local “legend”. Recommended by more than one person we met during a helicopter ride at the airport nearby. When we arrived we were stunned to find a huge menu board on the...wall along with just as many additional choices posted on signs and white boards at the front counter. Expect to take some time making a decision. Lots of traditional Hawaiian choices like ono fish and chips, teriyaki chicken plate, kalbi beef, and seafood plate. But so much more-burgers, sandwiches, rib eye steak, liver and onions, fried chicken, roast turkey, bento, loco moco, on and on. The choices are immense! So after looking them over and asking some questions my wife chose the hot pastrami sandwich and my choice was the tempura mahi sandwich. Both sands came with a choice of fries or onion rings and either a green salad or Mac salad. Surprising to get rings offered with a sandwich-you gotta pay more for that at home. The sandwiches were nice size and both were delicious. Pastrami was flavorful with lots of pickles on the sandwich. Maybe too many. Greens and onion also. My mahi was cooked perfectly and came on a nice grilled roll with greens onion and tomato with a house sauce. Really good. The rings were plentiful but just your typical foodservice frozen variety. My wife’s green salad looked delicious but had to take it home-too full. Strangely my Mac salad tasted like it had tuna in it. They were much too busy to ask but I still enjoyed it. Maybe home made? I still enjoyed every bite. We also picked a brownie but again that went home untouched. Looked great. All in all a great lunch. May be back this week for breakfast.More

There’s a reason why kama’aina and visitors alike flock to the Pine Tree Cafe: ono-licious eats :))). Whether you’re craving Loco Mojo, ahi/mahi mahi/ono fish, or anything else from their expansive menu, you will be delighted by your orders! And be sure to satisfy your...sweet tooth with one (or more) of their locally made desserts too... Enjoy one of our favorite Big Island eateries :))More

The food here was excellent and the Loco Moco was very good! We all had great food here even though we ordered different things.

My husband has a love affair with the Shoyu Chicken so we grab food here frequently. Fun place to get the food to go and drive across the highway down to ocean and eat lunch or sunset meal. They have a variety of local type...dishes so a bit of something for everyone. Good prices. Low on ambiance and could update the dining room a bit again as it's a bit worn would be my major idea for improvements! Easy to get to!More

Grabbed a quick bite on the way to the airport. The burger and fries were way better than the pricier offerings in Waikaloa.

Eating out is expensive in Hawaii and this cafe offers a very reasonable price for great food. The restaurant is very casual, but their menu is varied and the food quality is very good.

Set in a shopping center, this place serves up large portions of good food fast. Both times I was there, the service was fast even though they were very busy. I had the Fish and Chips. There was more than I could eat in one...sitting. Definitely a thumbs up for me.More

We stayed at The Hawaiian island of Kona for one night so we could do the night snorkel with manta rays . Not a huge amount to do at Kona except dive or see coffee plantations. Many really expensive places you can eat at but...we found the Pine Tree Cafe which almost looks like it is in an industrial area off the highway. The place is popular with lots of people who are bypassing they Subway to eat here. Meals were large, tasty, filling and seemed like good value . Better price and size than food stalls around the north island of Oahu.More

We stumbled upon this locals place, near the airport. Finally, a reasonable meal on the island. Generous portions, and tasty . Great desert choices as well. Casual place and very popular.

Not yet, hopefully soon!! They do have tons of menu items to choose from, not to mention their daily specials on their board by the cashier.
