Absolutely amazing food!

We were there for lunch twice. We were staying at Waikoloa Beach Resort which is about 20 mins away from Merrrimans but well worth the drive. The food was so incredibly good. The first day the service was a bit better perhaps because it was at the end of the lunch period. They serve lunch from... read more

We loved our meal here - quality across the board and five-star ingredients - but instead of waiting at Merriman's, we were advised to do so across the street at the very Colorado-ish Red Water Cafe. It was a totally different feeling than the light & bright Merriman's, and we enjoyed, but why not build your own bar, Merriman's?

Most delicious fish dish ever - in a fabulous sauce of butter, garlic, mushrooms, sake and rice wine vinegar!

After a wonderful drive to Waimea we truly enjoyed our lunch at Merriman's. We planned a day around our lunch here. The service and food are both wonderful. We enjoyed the art on the walls and would make the drive again without a doubt. Don't miss this treasure. Be sure and find the "Whoa" stop signs in Waimea.

We first visited Merriman's a number of years ago when we found it to on the leading edge of Hawaiian cuisine. This led to expectations that were too high for our return visit. The building is now large and noisy, too much for quiet conversation let alone contemplative dining. If you go, try for a table in the alcove. Food... More

We had dinner at Merriman's twice during our week on the Big Island because we loved it so much the first time. All the servers were attentive and friendly. The hot bread and soft butter is fantastic and they bring you all you want in a little basket. The wine list is great and although the wines by the glass are... More

Merriman's is in Waimea, which is not a particularly touristy part of town. The altitude is higher, and the air is crisper and cooler here -- dress accordingly, as I found the restaurant on the cool side when we visited. Unfortunately, the first part of experience with this restaurant was the parking -- it is limited, and the lot is... More

I really don't want to post this on a public site, but I can't get personal word to Mr. Merriman since we are now back home and there is no contact information that I can find. We visit Waimea each year for a number of weeks --seven weeks this last trip. Each trip has always involved dinner at Merriman's. Starting... More

you know you are about to have an experience from your initial check in, to being seated and a briefing about the merrimans food to table philosophy. The menu is perfect with just enough choices and your server answers all your questions. Our drinks are served promptly and orders take . We order the pumpkin salad with the catch of... More
