What a lovely place to have dinner. You are serenaded the entire time by frogs croaking & birds singing. It is so loud & consistent it does not seem real. It feels like you are sitting in someone's backyard patio with white lights in all the trees & on the patio cover. The menu has lots of delicious choices, everyone... More

This cafe was close to our inn and we ate here for brunch and dinner. The food was good quality and eating outdoors (covered) with the patio lights was quite nice.

This place was walking distance from the Holualoa Inn. We had a lovely dinner in the garden serenaded by the frogs and birds. Food was lovely and the service attentive. If you want to get away from the tourist crowds this is the place for you.

We were waiting for almost 40 minutes to be attended by the waitress. More tables were in our same situation... Waiters were just putting cups here and there, plates... But nothing else.... We expected a great meal but because of worst waiters ever we could not taste it. We obviously ended up leaving.

Our friends pointed us to this delightful restaurant and if you didn't know it was there, you could miss it! Great food, varied menu, very ample portions at fair prices. Lovely wait staff and beautiful surroundings complete with a huge koi pond and a garden buddha. As an aside - very clean restrooms! Will definitely be returning.

Yeah, I went there. When you want cooler than waterfront, quieter than the left coast crush, and great local food-- work to find the Shangdi La. Be ready for waits-- to get a table, AND to get you Hawaii-time slow food. Trust me-- the wait is to get you off the high-speed so you can enjoy the food and space.

We had two meals here during our stay in Holualoa We were pleased both times. The menu changes frequently and we enjoyed our meals. Service was friendly and the garden is lit by lights in the trees. Would return.

Had lunch there with a few business associates. Beautiful spot, love how they use local ingredients, staff were pleasent. I had the brie cheese burger. I love brie but I found out that it doesn't belong on a hamburger, but you know that is just my opinion sooo.. That being said it was highly priced $18, ingredients were of great... More

Beautiful garden setting with a distant ocean view. Clean quaint and far from the normal tourist areas. Good food, cheerfully served, the fish sandwich was fresh and flavorful, the blu cheese salad cold and crisp. The garden setting is lovely, the koi pond an added surprise. We loved this cafe and the little town it is in. The prices were... More

I've been going to Holuakoa since it was just a coffee shack. From the freshest local ingredients prepared simply, yet perfectly, to the luscious tropical atmosphere, this is a place that I've been returning to for 20+ years. You can tell the owners care about the details. The hanging jade flowers and beautiful koi pond are just a small part... More
