Just what your looking for if budget traveling. Basic diner style everyone we met was local. Get the expresso eggs for 5 bucks add some cheese and peppers. Wife had granola and coffee and this is the cheapest we've eaten on the island. Friendly staff. It was a great stop .

Bears coffee was excellent service and excellent food. When we come back, we will revisit this little coffee house filled with character.

All I gotta say, was so skeptical about eating espresso eggs....nope they have absolutely sold me!! This is the way to make eggs, and I will really try to do this at home. They are so light and airy with no added fat - WOW. The rest of the breakfast menu was really good, also liked their coffee as well... More

Everything we tasted here was great!! The coffee was hot, tasty and the refills were prompt. It was good to be greeted by smiling faces and to see how many of the customers greeted each other by name. Highly recommend

Stopped here really because it was the cheapest place in Hilo we could find to have breakfast. The waitress(owner?) suggested their special eggs Benedict, regular or salmon. I tried salmon. I've never had fish for breakfast or wanted to but it was out of this world. Salmon was obviously fresh, and everything was cooked exactly as ordered. Definitely will go... More

Years ago I found Bears coffee so I made a point of revisiting it. I am not sure if it was an off day or what but I remembered it differently and the experience was average.

We chose this place because I wanted something healthy for breakfast. The fruit parfait was fabulous and they have wonderful baked items too. My husband had a more traditional breakfast and was very satisfied and my child loved his Belgian waffle! The friendly service and fun cafe environment was a bonus delight! Highly recommend this place if you need to... More

I got an egg and bean burrito with pork sausage. My wife got a waffle and fruit. Both were large portions. Both were very tasty. The tree-ripened papayas in Hawaii are especially good. And the coffee was great everywhere. This seems to be a cafe for locals. It is very quaint, but clean, with good food.
