If you're lucky enough to find yourself a local tour guide, you will learn the significance of the fish ponds located throughout Hilo. Seaside Restaurant has their own fish pond and according to our guide, it is the only restaurant on Big Island that serves fish only from their own pond. It's a cozy restaurant with romantic lighting. Entrees are... More

We ate here two weeks ago and were more than pleased. The service was great and everyone enjoyed their seafood entrees. I had the macadamia nut crusted Mahi which was as good or better than anything I had all week. The calamari strips were excellent. Dinner cost $200 for five of us which seemed in line with other restaurants that... More

Very ordinary. Five of us went with high expectations but we're disappointed. We have eaten better seafood at half the price on the island. The menu was disappointing no fish & chips & not much variety. I had shrimp which was ok (6 pieces) but it came on a huge mound of pasta with veggies & olives which didn't have... More

From the moment we walked in it smelled terrible. We should have left right then. There were flies all over us. There was dirt still on my romaine lettuce on the house salad which just consisted of romaine lettuce, 2 slices of tomatoes and 1 slice of cucumber. The rolls were not fresh and tasted so processed after a couple... More

We arrived expecting a quality meal, based upon our inn-keeper's recommendation. What we got was one of the worst restaurant experiences ever. The appetizer arrived with a hair in it. While we waited for our entrees, we swatted at the many flies that buzzed about our table. Our fish was undercooked. Don't waste your money.

The service was very good. The food wasn't as good. Clam chowder was good, although it seemed a bit thick from a roux as opposed to cream. The macadamia nut crusted mahi was a bit disappointing. The nuts were too finely chopped and had little flavor. The sauce with it wasn't good. Small veggie portions, but the brown rice was... More

Ate here twice in the last 2 weeks during a working trip to Hilo. 4 people total, we all ate there together both times, so, lots of sampling. I had the macadamia crusted Ahi first trip, and it was very good. Others at the table had the marinated chicken (moist, tasty, very good) and the Mahi salad. The salad was... More

Nice, slightly upscale local seafood restaurant. Right on the water just south of downtown. Busy with locals, pricing moderate

Seaside is one of my favorite places to eat. Last night's dinner was in the north side of the restaurant that gave us a really nice view of the ocean, where we could see the small surf coming in and a view of the adjoining fishpond, where we could see the fish swimming in the water. Last night's dinner for... More
