While missioning along through the jungle along Onomea Scenic Route, if you want to experience real authentic Hawaiian aloha spirit while grabbing and ice cold coconut that's been cut by a machete and topped with a straw, then "Uncle Willy" is your guy! The most humble sweetest man, a Hawaiian native loved by locals is always happy to talk story... More

Randomly came across coconut Willy's booth, he's not a cafe, he's a coconut booth and he's the best - he's a really sweet man who gave me a LOT of fruit for free saying it just grows in his backyard... and said some people tell him $5 for a coconut is too expensive - but that's how much they are... The address on TripAdvisor for Coconut WIllie is incorrect, as are some of the reviews listed here. Coconut Willy is located at 27-481 Old Malahoa in Paikou, near Hilo. Willy is a native and a blast to visit with. $5 for a coconut freshly picked from a tree in Willie's yard and expertly opened by him with a machete. When... More

Fresh, cold coconuts. $5 Willy was a character, seemed loved by the locals and educated us howlees when we looked confused about what we were drinking (young coconut??? Huh?)

Had a great breakfast here. Portions were good, quality was great. My husband had pancakes and they came with a fresh, restaurant made fruit sauce. I had a delicious cooked breakfast. We also ordered some malasadas which were heaven.

Of course it rains in Hilo! But it was too warm to wear our rain jackets so we ducked out of Uncle Billy's lobby and into this cafe to avoid getting wet and have a nice meal. The serving staff were very helpful and our meal hit the spot. And before we finished our meal, the sun was out again.... More

Avoid! We went on May 14. We ordered salads so we could have a quick dinner (not the salad bar) . After 30 minutes they were finally delivered to our table. When my husband asked for more dressing on the side, he was told to get it from the salad bar. Worst eating experience of our 15 days in Hawaii.

We were staying close to this restaurant, and were exhausted from flying all day, so stopped here for dinner. There were only three tables occupied, but the wait was very long. When the food came, it was a disappointment. The blackened fish wrap had three tiny pieces of very overcooked fish in a gigantic wrap, with not a lot else... More
