Located in captivating Hilo is the WSW Steakhouse I Whiskey Steak Wine, that serves locals, mainland visitors, and international travelers. Diners enjoy floor-to-ceiling windows that allow for stunning views of Hilo Bay and magnificent Mauna Kea. The restaurant features produce from local Big Island farmers and is the only true steakhouse in Hilo. Not as good as expected

The black mussels were perfect as an appetizer.My husbands prime rib was over cooked like shoe leather .He sent it back & he never does that .It still came back tough with no flavor . Lobster tails we’re also overcooked & tough.We live here & we were hoping for a nice dinner especially for the price .The service was ok.The place is very minimal & loud There was zero atmosphere & no flavor on anything except the appetizer.The Cesar salad was fresh but not very flavorful , would recommend salt & pepper on the tables . Unfortunately we won’t go back except for the mussels . Too bad .

Has a lot of potential

Casual steakhouse with big city steakhouse prices. Live music was a nice touch. Appetizers: Bone marrow was okay, was really looking forward to that because it’s not a lot of menus. Raw oysters were amazing. Ordered the WSW Prime Rib, medium rare. Got it more on the rare side, had a lot of potential, otherwise. Lobster Mac was good and sized nicely for 2 people. Okinawa potatoes came out room temperature…again, had potential. I made the reservation through OpenTable for a birthday and requested a candle on a lava cake towards the end of the meal. Well, that didn’t happen. I had to ask them for a candle when I ordered my cheesecake because I thought they would bring out the cake with my desert. They ended up comping the cheesecake so that was nice of them!

I live locally, and have been to WSW a few times on different occasions. Dinner service has left me less than impressed. The steaks are very good, the seafood average. Presentation is severely lacking--more diner style than fancy steakhouse. The lack of tablecloths and nice serveware really drag down the atmosphere. Prices, though, are on the VERY high end. Just doesn't have that special feeling I want when dining at this price point. That said, breakfast at WSW is a hidden gem. I've loved everything we've ordered. Benedicts in particular are on point. Prices are reasonable and you can't beat the view. The table servings and atmosphere are not so bothersome for breakfast. If you need to meet up with someone for breakfast in Hilo town, WSW is a great option

Lovely for a Special Evening Dinner

We had attentive service and delicious food. We went for dinner and ordered their Surf & Turf, Lobster Mac & Cheese, WSW salad and the Ginger Lychee Smash. The Mac & Cheese was delicious- creamy with a nice crispy top. The steak and shrimp plus loaded potatoes was a large portion and cooked go perfection- enough for two people to share. And the Salad was very fresh with a flavorful tahini sauce. The lychee cocktail was my favorite! Overall, I highly recommend for an evening sit down dinner. Where we sat there was a view of the lake and there was a fire dance going on (an added plus!)

Avoid - very dissapointing

After a long day we were happy to find an upscale place to eat at our hotel but this place did not met the expectation... Plates took forever to arrive and my husband received his soup (entrée) at the same time as his meal. His catch of the day fish lacked in taste and was filled with fishbones. My bone in prime rib, supposed to be there signature steak, was for one twice the size ordered so very hard to cut and tasted average. Plate presentation was awful and service was ordinary at best. With so many restaurants in Hilo to choose from, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere

Thanksgiving dinner 2023 was a disaster

I am unable to comment on WSW as a Steakhouse. I can, however, comment on the buffet meal they offered for Thanksgiving, 2023. Our party of six adults agreed that the meal was of "low-quality ingredients poorly or improperly prepared." Food on the buffet line was not at the proper temperature, and often incorrectly labeled. There are many great places to dine in Hilo..........WSW Steakhouse is not one to choose for Thanksgiving. Service was slow, inattentive, and inexcusable as the restaurant was not more than half full. I can understand an automatic 20% tip for a full-service meal for parties of six or more. A buffet where the customer served their plates and carried them to the table and the server's only function was to remove empty plates does not warrant a 20% tip.

I ate at the Steakhouse for the First time with the family. Myself, my in laws, and my kids. We are here for a holiday vacation and we're taken aback by this hidden gem! I have heard mixed reviews on the brunch. I must say my kids have hearty appetites and the brunch buffet kept them busy and full while we enjoyed the view from our table and peaceful atmosphere. I enjoyed the endless mimosas with my father in law Earl. The prime rib was cooked to perfection. Not too tough or too rare. Very lovely presentation of the brunch items. The red velvet pancakes were a welcome last minute YOLO before the post holiday diet resolution we all find ourselves in. Fluffy and not overly sweet. If you are a seafood lover I highly recommend the crab legs. Not sure if the crabs our locally sourced but was impressed with the freshness and moist crab meat. The interior of the restaurant was very stylish and gave an upscale luxury feel to our dining experience. Excellent service. Especially from Mark and Kristen and Sue who quickly greeted, seated and made us feel welcome. These folks should be applauded for all they do, it does get very busy and they hustle to satisfy each customer.

Superb Breakfast

The service, ambiance and food were all top-notch. We were a group of 8 and the service was cheerful and exceptionally efficient. We all, ordered different items from their menu and those delivering our dishes were perfect at placing each person’s order in front of them. The food was beautifully plated and made a delightfully colorful table. Everyone commented on how good everything was. The portions are generous and several of us needed “to go” boxes. I’ve already made reservations for another breakfast before we leave the island.

Nice Restaurant

I went for the first time to WSW with relatives for breakfast. The restaurant is quite nice. I had the meat lovers omelette and my relatives had the grand loco moco. The omelette was ok. I did like all the different meats in the omelette. My relatives thought the gravy which makes the loco moco had no taste. The service could have been better. We waited about 15 minutes for the menu, then another 10 - 15 minutes for our orders to be taken. The waitresses were friendly and courteous. Maybe we'll return to the restaurant and try something else on the menu.

Good Atmosphere

Was there with a large family group. Had lobster cioppino, was very good, but a little salty. Others in the group enjoyed their food, but thought the rice tasted rather odd. The food and liquor was quite pricey for a restaurant in Hilo.

Great breakfast selection

We stayed at the Hilo Hawaiian but only went to WSW for breakfast on our final day. That was a good choice because it was Thanksgiving and a lot of food places were closed in Hilo. We already had eggs and pancakes other mornings in Hilo, so were very happy to see WSW offered lighter options like croissants. Service was prompt and the food was good. Definitely recommend having breakfast here, if you are staying within walking distance.

Terrific Breakfast

Priced below $20 and very large servings. The “I’m Starving” choice includes 3 eggs your way, 3 meats, potatoes, toast & 2 small velvet (red colored) pancakes. For the reasonable price it definitely exceeded our previous 5 breakfasts elsewhere on the island.

One of the best Breakfast places we have at Hilo, HI

Our goof friend took us to this good place for breakfast at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. We enjoy good Egg Benedict and fruits and of course strong coffee. And the fantastic view of the bay. If you stay at the hotel, you’re lucky; if you stay at other hotels, do make a trip to this place for good foods and great view.

Pretty Good Brunch

This was our first time for brunch. We had reservations and were quickly shown to our table at 10:30 am. We're glad we were able to go through the buffet before people came and the line to the buffet was almost out the door. Service personnel were friendly and attentive. There is a good selection of brunch items (local salads, sushi, breakfast meats, prime rib, omelet station, and crab legs). The oxtail soup was tasty. The crab legs were dry and did not have much flavor. We liked being able to select the ingredients for our omelet. Dessert choices are limited and the coffee was weak for us and not hot. Overall, the food we ate was pretty good.

Great dinner

We made reservations for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We were able to get in before our reservation time since we were in the area earlier than expected. We dressed resort casual but others were there in shorts. It was a very nice feeling restaurant. We had a window seat so the view was nice. Food was good and the service was wonderful.
