On your way south of Kona, ya need to stop at Kaya's and get your hot/cold drinks, snacks, or breakfast/lunch 'cause everything here is absolutely ONO :)) The classic building has lots of parking next to it, and there are tables, chairs, and a couch to enjoy your purchases, chat with friends, etc. They feature lots of homemade food items... Wandered in this roadside local place quite unexpectedly. I was surprised to find their extensive gluten free menu. Everything from the scones to the quiches were delectable! My family who was with me, do not follow a gluten free diet and they all enjoyed the goodies and treats as well. The organic coffee was delicious. Service friendly and the place... More

Let's cut to the chase people: It's HARD to find good food on the big island. Most of the places we went just slapped together some precooked Costco food and drenched it in mayo. Some of it was laughably bad. I'm convinced many of these places are only in business because of the constant stream of tourists who don't know... More

Right on route 11...nice local spot that is cell phone- and Skype-free. A localvore's delight...Kona Coffee, farm fresh eggs for breakfast and homemade baked goods. Easy-going and friendly staff that treats you like you are I their home...lots of options for delicious food! A must stop in the morning between Kona and the South Island beaches.

Cute little place with amazing carrot cupcakes, scones and nut granola bars. I wasn't a fan of the chocolate chip muffins, they were wet and tasted gluten free nor of the pumpkin pie. But I'm also not a big fan of gluten free backing. She also sells some amazing soaps made by her sister which I recommend you try.

We were on our way to take a yoga class at Big Island Yoga and noticed the sign that said "organic macadamia nuts" and decided to stop in. As it turns out, they were out of the nuts, but we ordered some home-made pea soup and some vegetarian chili, which were both delicious! We also tried the kale salad which... More

Great wholesome fresh food. I had sunny side eggs with cheese and pesto cream cheese on a sesame bagel and kombucha!!! Address on here is wrong. The place is located off Route 11 between Kawanui Pl and St Paul Rd.

We stayed in Cpt. Cook and happened to drive by this place. We were attracted to their gluten free and organic offerings. What a good choice we made! This place is outstanding - coffee is rich, food is very tasty and the staff is among the most friendly we have met on the island. A+!!

Being coffee aficionados, we sampled many brews on the Big Island during our visit -- and were rather disappointed at most of the places we tried. However, this was not the case at Kaya's: we found their coffee beverages to be most excellent (and consistently so, based on repeated visits). Service was really super friendly, and the cafe has a... More

This is one block from our accommodation so we tried it. Funky but OK, was hot inside on the day we visited. Lots of room inside. Noisy outside because of highway North of the actual village of Captain Cook as we know it. Coffee was average, not much flavor. We were told all three sizes of Americano have the same... More
