If you’re a stuck up person thinking this place is a 4 star restaurant with fancy seating and servers, then go somewhere else. If you want authentic Hawaiian lau lau and awesome home cooking potato/Mac salad and non air conditioning and mismatched chairs and a new Costco water dispenser with a super friendly family atmosphere then please try them out. We tried lau lau on Maui and no comparison at all. The most tender pork dish on the island. It’s a place we always make a stop at each visit. Just relax and take it in.

OMG !!!! This is a MUST STOP when in the Big Island. It’s hard to tell which is better the food or the family. The FOOD - All of it is awesome. The Lomi Salmon is perfectly salty. The Laulau are simply the best we have ever eaten. Period. The kalua pork & cabbage is amazing. The desert. Get one of everything. I mean it. The Family - Each one of the J’s are just great people. Really that simple. You will feel like you are at their kitchen table. Thanks for making our Anniversary extra special. When approaching Super J’s make sure you signal and slow down before you get to the drive. Don’t want to be in an accident before you get your laulau. Just go to Super J’s and eat and take some with you.

Excellent food in a relaxed setting, we stopped here after a coffee tour at Heavenly Hawaii coffee farm. My wife and I shared a “special plate”, which included a sampling of each main and side, and it was all delicious. The Lau Lau and the Kalua Cabbage were standouts, and we scraped our plates clean before finishing up with a slice of sweet potato pie. Service was very friendly, and they even gave us a recipe for the cabbage when we asked... I won’t share that here, you’ll have to go there yourself!

Place doesn't look very inviting from the outside but once in you feel like you are eating at their kitchen table! Very friendly service, great prices and real Hawaiian food. We shared a pork and a chicken laulau. Both were good. The macaroni salad is a great compliment to the meat. Enjoyed our stop!

I've found that A) unassuming mom and pop places tend to serve some of the best food you'll find and B) bonus points if you're the only non-local in there. This blew me away. The kalua pork is the best we've ever had - melt in your mouth, perfectly seasoned. I tend to like garbage plates/loco moco so this means a lot of mac salad in my life. I have honestly never had memorable mac salad before this place but we took one bite and desperately wanted the recipe. I hate using tons of superlatives but in this case, amazing and insanely good are warranted. And the woman making the food (I assume the owner) was so friendly that even if the food hadn't been as good, I'd still go back simply to support her. As another review said, unless you're a vegetarian go here!

Loved this place! We stopped by for lunch and they offered a great selection of traditional Hawaiian food. Both the chicken and pork lau lau were excellent! We also had the sweet potato pie, it was delicious! The ladies working were super friendly and funny. They offered great suggestions for local places to go and things to see. Definitely recommend and would love to go back again!

The aloha and ohana vibe here is strong. This family-run establishment serves the best lau lau you’ll ever have in your life. We called several times (before our trip, day 1 and day 2 of trip) to inquire what their business hours will be the week of Thanksgiving. The owner was uncertain each time if she’ll be open as her staff are all off that week and suggested we just call on the day of to find out. Finally, on Thanksgiving day, we tried our luck and called early AM. She said she will open for us and only for lunch. Oh yeah baby!! We planned our day accordingly and made the drive here. The rest was history. It was like eating at someone’s home with the best lau lau meal I’ll forever dream of. Both pork and chicken versions were fantastic. To the wonderful owner who was supposed to be on vacation but made the exception to open her doors, mahalo! You made our trip.

If you're looking for the best and most authentic Hawaiian food ever, this is where you need to go. I could honestly eat breakfast, lunch and dinner here every day for the rest of my life. My favorite is the kalua pig and you HAVE to have a slice of the haupia pie!

We visited for lunch yesterday for our first time. Our lunch was provided as a Christmas present from my sister and brother-in-law who research everything. Not knowing what to order, the staff decided to let us try multiple items. They also suggested desert, banana macadamia bread, and purple sweet potatoe pie. Everything that we tried was way beyond our expections, delicious, perfectly cooked and presented. All just the perfect amount at a great price. I will definitely return. The staff are friendly, helpful, warm, and welcoming.

I have been going here the past year after moving to the Big Island and there is nothing I crave more than this authentic Hawaiian food! The aunties work all the time and super hard to make sure the food is delicious. Pork lau lau is the best and so rich in flavor. I have tried most food places here on island but nothing beats Super J's. Mahalos!!!

Loved our lunch at Super J's - delicious lau laus and super friendly hosts. The lau laus were great and the purple potato pie is one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. Don't forget to stop here for a memorable lunch.

Don't let the outside throw you off...what's inside is soo worth going in to get the food!! The menu is not extensive but LauLau takes a long time to prepare and cook. They have two kinds, chicken and pork plus a Kalua pork and cabbage. I recommend you get all three and leave room for their desserts

I came with my family looking to enjoy some authentic Hawaiian food. I have Hawaiian friends and understand that some Hawaiians quite understandably, are not really happy about their island and home being overtaken and overrun by tourists. I asked, politely, a few questions about their menu and the elder lady working there made me feel like my questions were not welcome at all. I felt that I was treated condescendingly and frankly, rudely. The food here is very good and reasonably priced but I really felt like I was not welcome there and I would far rather go somewhere else and pay more money and get friendly kind service.

We recently ate here on a visit to the big island. We both got the plate and enjoyed the chicken Lau lau, macaroni salad, and rice. It was all very good. For dessert my husband ordered the sweet potato pie. It was amazing! A very filling meal and delicious!

We were tipped off to this little restaurant by our snorkel guide. It's very small, with just a few tables, and very warm inside from the cooking heat. The lau-lau was so juicy and tender, and even the taro leaves it was wrapped in were tender enough to eat. Unfortunately they were out of desert when we were there, although I hear the taro pie is great.
