Not bad this far north of the border....

It was the only place open. Now past experience has shown me that one cannot find good Mexican food north of TX or NM. But Ranchito was a great surprise!! Our server started us off with an app of puffy chips with salsa and bean dip. Basically they were fried flour tortillas but really quite good. The main was very nice too. Yes, the meat could be brought up a notch with more seasoning but the concept of the fried burrito in a spiced ranchero sauce was not bad. Service was excellent and the price was very reasonable.

Lunch in the road

Stopped for lunch. We shared an order of chicken fajitas. Husband said rice and beans were good. I liked the chicken, peppers and guacamole. The salsa was good. The chips came with salsa and bean dip. Only thing we didn’t like were the chips. They were puffy and not salty. The wait staff was great, attentive but not overbearing. The price was reasonable, $21 for meal and two drinks. Food came out quickly.

Not quite authentic

While the service and prices were excellent, the ingredients seemed to be less than. The meat was bland and the cheese seemed fairly generic.

Smothered and Hot

Had lunch at Ranchito's yesterday, based on a locals recommendation. I ordered Guacamole and chips and the chips arrived freshly cooked and hot. The deep fried, smothered chicken burrito was excellent and smothered in plenty of great tasting, green chile and cheese. Last but not least, the waitress was a Gem as I waited almost an hour for my other party to show. She kept my iced tea full and was attentive throughout.

The waitress took my order for a cheese enchilada dinner. When my order came I got chicken enchiladas. When she came back to the table she immediately saw that the order was wrong. So she said if I'd keep the food she'd comp my dinner. When I got up to the register she charged me full price for cheese enchiladas which I didn't get. I guess she thought the chicken was a bonus. We have eaten there for years we will not be back.

Home made tortillas, excellent tacos and the green chile was very good. Waitress was friendly. Will definitely go back!

Great food and very friendly service. Excellent value for money. We were on a road trip (from the UK) and couldn’t have found a better place to stop and recharge.

Workers were nice but here's a list of what we didn't like 1. You had to pay for chips and salsa 2. There was no queso 3. Nachos were the chips and dip you would get from a concession 4. Chicken was very dry 5. Rice was over seasoned 6."homemade burrito" was just a store bought tortilla 7. Homemade chips and salsa were not good Other than that good job

Worst Mexican restaurant I've ever had the displeasure of eating at.

The building is a very severe echo chamber, making conversation difficult if not impossible. The menu is quite limited. Chips and salsa are an added charge of $4.25 - and they think that a cut up deep fried flour tortilla makes chips. Their "bean dip" is nothing but a scoop of refried beans in a bowl. I ordered the Carne Asada, the meat was seasoned ok, but nothing to write home about, and certainly not a quality cut, somewhat tough. Ordered a frozen margarita, and someone with zero idea of margarita making excelled in their ignorance. It wasn't frozen, and I don't think it was tequila. If I had to guess, I would say it was a wine margarita. The wait staff was abysmal. If i had to use one word to describe, it would be surly. I've had Mexican food all across the U.S., and I grew up in Central California - home to some of the best ever made. I've also been deep into Mexico on a couple occassions. Nothing I have ever had before could possibly prepared my for this culinary assault.

We were traveling thru town And stopped in for dinner. The service and food were excellent! Some of the BEST Mexican food I've Ever had. Our waiter was so pleasant. Prices good.

Very nice meal

Two adults had dinner here on a Monday evening in late August. Cost was $36 for two combination platters of burrito, taco and enchilada, iced teas, tax and tip. Tasty but spicy. They make their own chips and tacos here. Plus a nice bean dip. Somewhat expensive for the meal but this is a tourist town, so it's expensive everywhere. Enough food for lunch for the next day for us. Would return if lived in the area.

Enchiladas were average but enjoyed the beef chimichanga and would absolutely order the bean dip and fresh flour chips. Daughter had bacon burger and she liked that.

Ranchito is a full service Mexican restaurant that serves all types of Mexican cuisine. Stopped to have a light supper with my dad. We both ordered cheese enchilada and I also had a bean tostada. Meal was delivered fairly quickly and food was delicious. Service was good and the price was very reasonable.
