We were staying in Sheridan for a couple of nights and my husband is on Weight Watchers. Because of this, he eats a lot of vegetables and since Birch stated that they are vegetarian friendly, I made a reservation. But our misgivings began with the...appetizers. We ordered the charcuterie board, but they served 2 types of cheddar, one hard and one soft (the point of a board is to have a variety of things) with very hard, thick crostini, almost too difficult to chew. Pickles and a few other throwdowns--a strange combo of items. The caprese appetizer was excellent. My daughter's and my entree were fine, but my poor husband received an appetizer plate with spoonfulst of various vegetarian items--gnocci (potatoes are vegetarian, but not good for WW), including a limp dollop of burned broccoli. He complained to the waitress, and she was sympathetic, but perhaps thinking that we didn't really understand how 'high end' they were (We've had wonderful meals all over the country, including Spagos...). The chef did send out another vegetable; grilled asparagus, but it still didn't really negate the vegetable entree he'd received and they charged us full price for his meal. Unfortunately, our conclusion was that perhaps the chef, at least that evening, wasn't trained to a truly stellar level afterall. Very disappointing for a very expensive restaurant...More

Wasn't expecting this type of eclectic menu in the Midwest. Great food and service, a must for foodies while in Sheridan.

Perfect, attentive and knowledgeable servers. We went for their tasting menu night, each of the six courses w/wine were outstanding. We learned that the following Tuesday that their new menu was going to debut, we booked reservations on the spot. Went last nite for the...new menu, lived up to our expectations. It was so good that we are going again tomorrow as there were too many choices that looked delicious. We are admittedly particular food “snobs” and Birch never disappoints. Some feel that the prices are a little high, but in our experience they are more mid range ($20-$30 entrees)More

We had been excited to go to Birch during our visit to Sheridan in September 2020. We made a reservation and asked to be seated on the patio. We arrived on time, were shown to our table and provided with water and menus. There appeared...to be two female servers working the outdoor tables. We waited patiently for one of them to greet us and take our drink orders. Our patience wore thin as five, then 10, then 15 minutes went by. As we sat there in the 85-plus heat, it soon became clear that each of the servers was trying to foist our table off on the other one. Each server would spend oodles of time at her other tables, describing dishes, chatting up the customers, etc., then she would walk quickly past us avoiding eye contact! I would lean over and try to catch her eye, give her a wave, but she just strode, and I do mean strode, by our table, eyes straight ahead. They were both doing this! I suppose we should have gotten up, walked inside the restaurant, and complained, but by this time my husband had had it. Who wants to eat in a place that treats you like this? Where you have to make a fuss to get service? So we just left. I did call the manager on duty to let her know of our experience, and she was apologetic. Too little too late. Good luck if you decide to eat here.More

stopped here on family trip through national parks and found this great restaurant . Felt like i was in San Francisco - such beautiful presentations and flavors. Mixed cocktails are great too. They had beautiful outside dinning too. The duck nachos, beet salad , risotto,...pasta were some of the things we had.More

We had only one dinner in Sheridan, but we would have eaten again at Birch the next night if they had been open! The food, the setting (we were outside), the service, the wine list were all imaginative, attractive, and successful. We can't say "this...is hands-down the best restaurant in town" only because we don't know the others—but we'd bet on it.More

Don't be alarmed that Birch is listed #12 on TripAdvisor. I chalk this up to being much newer to town than the rest of the restaurants listed. I promise you, Birch is THE best restaurant in Sheridan! Menus rotate seasonally and are always full of...fresh, quality ingredients. It's fun to find things on the menu that we haven't heard of before here in a small town in WY and to be able to try new things. My husband has an onion allergy and they are always super accomodating. Since every dish is made fresh from scratch, it's easy to get something modified when needed. Desserts here are absolutely incredible. Well, all of the food is. Plus, service is impeccable. We enjoy dining out all around town but this place has the best service. Everybody there makes a point to know our names when we come in and walk us to the door when leaving. This place feels like family. Man, I love it here!More

The food is exceptional and service great. Chef Travis has some wonderful restaurant experience in California wine country and it shows. We will go back again.

Outstanding food and service, comparable to better restaurants in Chicago and New York but a lot less pricy. Eclectic menu that changes as owner and chef Travis creates new dishes. Beef and vegetables locally sourced. Fresh fish flown in from Hawaii.

Unlike any other restaurant in Sheridan. Very classy and upscale! The bison tenderloin was very good and tender. The vegetarian creation was a pleasant surprise!
