My cousin and I recently visited Laramie just to check out the vibe. We ate at Nico sushi and steak and were honestly surprised how good the food was! The wait staff and everyone were very efficient and nice. I would definitely go back there...when in Laramie!More

Not sure what other diners see in this very small, understaffed eatery. I dined here yesterday, 1/3/23 with a friend. We were not greeted enthusiastically nor was the cook (who took our order) particularly friendly. The food was mediocre at best. My lunch order of...stir fried vegetables and tofu was never stir fried in a wok. The vegetables were prepared in advance in a watery brown sauce lacking flavor. The tofu was probably reheated in a microwave and had an off taste. My companion ordered a sushi roll and said they were having an “off day.” Very disappointing from beginning to end. Will take my business elsewhere.More

Grab your chopsticks and dig in! Easy takeout and delicious sauces done just right! The ginger salad dressing was perfect! We had teriyaki chicken and tofu udon. It was ready in 20 minutes. We’re just driving thru and this dinner hit the spot!

From the street, it doesn’t look like much. But not only is there more space inside than I’d imagined, the food and service was first-rate. All staff was pandemic measure compliant — not the case in every Laramie restaurant. Service was quick, friendly, extremely congenial...though quite professional and the food was wonderful. We had a simply excellent experience! Great place.More

I ate here while visiting Laramie in June 2019. On this recent visit, I wanted to dine here again. Of course, a Saturday night on a holiday (Labor Day) weekend meant that with limited seating due to the pandemic, I would have to wait. It...was a longer wait than anticipated, but I didn't mind too much. On my previous visit, I ordered gyoza and katsudon, which were both delicious. This time I ordered the shrimp tempura appetizer and the California roll (fried). Between the four shrimp accompanied by plenty of vegetables, and eight sizable pieces of maki, I was sated. Along with a small carafe of sake, my ticket was only $20. I received great food at a reasonable price. The staff seemed a bit stressed given the circumstances, but remained professional while dealing with diners and a slew of delivery/take-out orders.More

We were surprised to find a Japanese restaurant in Laramie. The sushi was very good indeed, and the soups were excellent. We would definitely return to explore more of the menu. The staff was careful and seating appropriate during corona times.

For serious sushi lovers Wyoming is a ocean in a desert. Don't believe the ratings from local diners; they don't know what real sushi is. But Niko Sushi & Steak is honestly the best sushi I've had in Wyoming. I am a sushi addict, I...have withdrawls but I won't just settle. The best sushi I've found is in Minneapolis, California, and the East Coast. You know places close to the water. Duh.More

We tried it during the pandemic and found they were trying to social distance but the place is so small it really does not work. The sushi and teriyaki were not that great and we could not afford steak. We won't be back.More

Though they were a kid friendly place, each dish ended up costing around $15 (at least) a plate. Add that up with edamame for an appetizer and Japanese sodas for two kids and suddenly you see a $100 total for dinner. At that rate, I...expect to be swept off my feet by the amazing food. I was not. Dishes were minimal on meat, huge on rice.More

Sushi is AMAZING! Chicken and Beef teriyaki is also very good :) If you have a party larger than 4 I would call, the place is kind of small but definitely worth any wait. Staff is very attentive and kind.

This is my favorite sushi in town. While that isn't saying much, this place is great! I eat here at least once per month & while I've tried many options, I constantly come back to the fried cali roll with eel sauce. So basic, but...the light fry & sauce makes it something special. Their hibachi is pretty dull, but every roll I've ever tried has been very nice. The GF is hooked on their miso soup. The staff is always incredibly warm & helpful, even when they are slammed. I do wish the dining room & tables were a bit larger, because it's hard to leave or enter when the place is busy. Fingers crossed that they eventually move into a larger space & find success there.More

The staff was friendly but a bit slow. The sushi was fresh and beautiful. The prices were on the high side but I felt the food was worth it. Unfortunately, the table we sat at had a big column in the middle so our party...of 4 had to basically sit separately and it was inconvenient to try to share our meal. Very small seating area so I don't recommend going at busy times.More

I"ve been here a few times and keep wanting to go back for more. I've ordered a couple of the rolls and the tempura, which all have been very tasty. I'm not an expert with type of food and need a bit of help in...figuring out how to order but I've not been disappointed yet. The mushroom soup (or they have miso) is very delicious. The service was excellent and the facility is very clean and tidy. Parking is assessable and the location of the establishment is ideal...on Grand Street across from the campus commuter bus stop. Also, prices are adequate for what you get. When I go back...I think I'll try something from the hibachi selection.More
