Visiting from Florida for a college tour. Great local food. Casual attire. Friendly service. We had the 7 oz bacon wrapped filet. Cooked perfectly!

We lived in Laramie from 1972-74 and occasionally ate at the Cavalryman for special occasions and work celebrations. When we had a job candidate in for an extended interview, we would almost always take him/her to the Cavalryman for dinner. The longevity of the place is probably the best evidence of its ability to deliver a good dining experience. Although... More

Just a quick heads up if you're going to Laramie and want a top quality dinner house. Brennan was a most accommodating host and the staff were a good reflection of his leadership. Excellent food, good drinks, a little pricey but worth it.

We arrived at 5:45 pm and we're seated immediately. There were only a few patrons in the place. We ordered and waited 2 1/2 hours to get the food. When it arrived it was cool and fair. The prime rib was horrible. My steak was cold. Vegetables were cold. We ordered nothing unusual just from the menu. The service was... More

On a visit to Laramie, we stopped by the Cavalryman Steakhouse for dinner, it is an awesome historic building & the inside is decorated with pictures of Laramie's past that are great to look at. The meal was fantastic , could not have been better, Our server was the main attraction though, Lauren was outstanding, she was very attentive during... More

Loved the experience at Cavalrymen restaurant. Sandra was an excellent server. The steak was perfect and my dirty martini was one of the best. Great experience after a Cowboy football win!

Visited this place some years ago and wanted to return someday. We did return and were somewhat disappointed. Our steak and prime rib were rather bland. I usually enjoy prime rib but this was not that good. The steak was also of the poorer quality. The atmosphere was excellent and our server, Morgan, was exceptional. It was also a bit... More

The Cavalryman Steakhouse is located on the grounds of historic Fort Sanders, established in July of 1866. In its heyday, the Fort Sanders Military Reservation protected the Overland and Lodgepole Creek emigrant routes, the Denver-Salt Lake City stage route, and the construction crews for the Union Pacific Railroad. Ruins of the fort’s powder keg are visible just southwest of the restaurant’s main building. The Cavalryman building was constructed in 1925 to serve as the clubhouse for the local country club. Just to the east, remnants of the nine-hole golf course can still be found.
