Meal for 5 was brought out at long intervals so two had their meal, waited 10 minutes 2 more and the final was brought 10 minutes after that. Well done order came out rare, med. rare came over cooked. When asked about performance we were...offered $6.00 discount on a $280 dinner!! No one seemed concerned. Long time before we go back.More

Atmosphere had a rustic feel. No air-conditioning. They were kind enough to seat us with no reservation. Dining and bar filled quickly. Service was stellar! The food was ok. Their French Onion soup was fair. Lacked seasoning, they used a basic slice of swiss cheese...and 2 small salad croutons. I had the bacon wrapped filet. The Sébastien Oscar is very different from what I've had at other steakhouses. Bland, lacked flavor and not much crab or lobster, and a few bits of asparagus and the sauce had a different consistency (super thick) from bernaise sauces I've had before. But the steak,...the steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned well. Our server was excellent! Our glasses were always full. We really wanted to get the chocolate globe for dessert, but had zero room.More

The best ever. Had the bison ribeye. Excellent. Had a desert which was a chocolate globe. OMG , never had anything like it. Excellent food. Excellent service. Went on to Jackson Hole for a week. Nothing even compared to this restaurant.

Four years ago I visited the Cavalryman and found it lacking in many ways. This year it seems to have made great advances in service and food quality. Distracting table placements have been adjusted and the service and food was what I expect. The manager...made frequent stops to check on us. This was an unexpected turnaround. Great job on the changes.More

We had eaten year several years ago and were in town again so decided to relive a nice dinner. Boy were we wrong. I will admit the bread and butter and the mixed drink were fine- everything else was about as bad as you can...get. The baked potato was not cooked completely, the duck was tough like a piece of shoe leather and the steak was worse. Neither of us were able to eat more than a few bites. On top of it all, the place seemed to be hosting a convention for flies- so busy shooing them away we couldn't do anything else. To be fair, the hostess or manager reduced the bill, but it was still one of the worst meals ever. Everyone was extremely friendly and they list many gluten free options, but that didn't begin to compensate for the awful food. Very sorry- we'd been looking forward to it . Try anyplace but here-just the pits !!!More

I have lived in Laramie for 50 years. In the past I enjoyed the Cavalryman. They offered a stuffed mushroom appetizer, well stocked salad bar, and ice cream for dessert. This was all included free with the meal. I recently visited the Cavalryman again with...a friend. The food was okay, not great, but okay. None of the previous items were available. The thing that bothered me most, however, was being served my $50+ meals by the waitstaff in jeans with holes in them. It appears the manager is too cheap to buy employee uniforms. This cheapness continued when the check contained a request that I tip the cooks as well as the server. I have always assumed that my tip was shared by the servers, buss persons, cooks, bartenders, etc. We have many good restaurants in Laramie (Rib & Chop House, Altitude, Corona Village, etc.), but the Cavalryman is no longer one of them!More

We went here for dinner when we traveled through Laramie. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Wife and I both ordered wedge salads and filets. Salads were good but a bit small for a wedge. Steaks and side orders arrived. Mine was perfect,...but my wife's was very rare. She had ordered it Medium Well and confirmed with the server that Medium Well was just a line of pink in the center of the steak. Server agreed that was their definition of medium well. They took the steak back for more heat and my wife ate her side dishes. When they returned it was a different steak. My wife touched it with her fork and it was very soft and jiggled like jello salad. When she cut into it was extremely rare. Just seared on the outside. Showed the server and she brought someone who was apparently the manager. They both agreed this steak was even rarer than the first. They apologized profusely and offered to try again. My wife's appetite was gone after eating the side dishes and salad and she asked that they simply take the steak off the bill and charge for the side dishes and salads. They agreed immediately and again apologized. When I got the bill, they had only charged for my meal. My steak was perfect. Mistakes happen and since they made it right without hesitation, I rated them Excellent.More

I had the smaller ribeye, and it was way over cooked. The restaurant was very hot, and service was slow I am assuming due to lack of staff. My coworker had the larger ribeye, and it was cooked right. Definitely not my favorite meal since...being in town.More

Daughter and I had a very good meal and wine experience recently and wanted to give proper thanks. Very good attentive food and wine service, with proper manager attention. Excellent wine list, a little expensive but it is little Laramie way up here in Wyoming....Maybe a few more value wines might help volume sales. Kitchen did a great job on a better than usual innovative menu, kudos! Remodel due to a fire was a bit sparse but held to the general theme and didn't detract, except for somewhat uncomfortable chairs for regular dining. All in all a good night out in a town that has always had trouble keeping up on the fine dining scene.More

Fantastic! Very much improved from what I remember 10 years ago. Well done menus, excellent steak and amazing Brandy Alexander! Highly recommended. Keep this place in mind when deciding between Altitudes and Rib & Chop.

It was our 30th wedding anniversary and we chose this place to celebrate. When we arrived, my wife thought from the surroundings outside that it was not going to be good but once we were inside, she relaxed and liked the decor. Everyone was very...friendly and the food that was cooking smelled good. We wanted our dinner to be special and ordered the lobster & filet even though it seemed to be priced high. It turned out to be excellent and one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Everything was perfect! The only thing that was lacking was the portion of creme brulee even though it was very good. We talked about how good our meal was on our drive home and plan to come back soon (and for our next anniversary). Don't miss your chance to try this hidden gem, it is well worth it!More

Nine people were well-served by this efficient restaurant. It truly was primarily a steakhouse and our server handled all duties well. Steaks were perfectly prepared although they were not especially notable. The wine selection is good. Pricing is not inexpensive and so be prepared. Worth...a trip.More
