The food is freshly prepared. The soda bread and honey butter is the perfect start. As expected, the meats are the main attraction. The bison is of course my favorite. But they do make an effort with the sides, sometimes to your delight. The creme...More

We were traveling through Laramie on our way east and had decided that while in Wyoming we were going to have steak. We are certainly happy that we chose this restaurant. We split a New York strip, medium rare, and it was done to perfection....More

I would not recommend the steak sampler - pretty pricey for 6 small pieces of steak and 3 dipping sauces.. The WyoBurger is one of the best burgers I have ever had - very juicy and flavorfyl. They were not very busy for a Saturday...More

I really wasn't expecting much after reading some of the reviews, and we almost left the parking lot without going in, but I'm glad we didn't. The staff was very friendly, it was good service, there is a great wine selection for wines by the...More

After reading all the reviews I was prepared for anything but we had a great experience. We did book a table (to make things easier) but as we ate early and it was a Thursday night there weren’t more than about six tables occupied when...More

Occasion: Birthday dinner surprise! Promptly greeted & seated upon arrival. Not a busy Thursday night for them. 3-4 tables the entire time we were there. I found out later that my husband did notify them it was my birthday so from this I am shocked...More

This was OK, but nothing stellar. My steak was good, as was my husband's fish, although his portion was a bit small for the price. The odd thing was that my dessert, which should have been warm, was served in an ice-cold iron skillet, as...More

We were greeted when we came in. We were in town for our grandsons birthday. The manager was very friendly and our server, Hailey, was the perfect server and was very attentive, couldn’t of asked for a better server. My grandson liked it so much...More

This old run down place can't possibly stay in business much longer. Surely Laramie must have a better steakhouse for TripAdvisor to rate as number one rather than this one. Kiersten, our rodeo cowgirl and college student waitress, nice as she was, is a novice...More

My wife and I stumbled upon this restaurant by accident while trying to locate a golf course. It is outside of Laramie on a country road. We went back the following day for dinner. I had the bison ribeye and my wife had the prime...More

Description
The Cavalryman Steakhouse is located on the grounds of historic Fort Sanders, established in July of 1866. In its heyday, the Fort Sanders Military Reservation protected the Overland and Lodgepole Creek emigrant routes, the Denver-Salt Lake City stage route, and the construction crews for the Union Pacific Railroad. Ruins of the fort’s powder keg are visible just southwest of the restaurant’s main building. The Cavalryman building was constructed in 1925 to serve as the clubhouse for the local country club. Just to the east, remnants of the nine-hole golf course can still be found.
