Tried to walk in, but place was packed. You need reservations. Best to make it early the day before to ensure your time. Ordered Bison Prime Rib. OMG. Off the hook tender, juicy and tender. Best I’ve ever had in 60+ years. Highly recommend for...great food and fantastic service.More

Have dined at this restaurant before on 3 previous vacations, but will think hard about dining here again. Our server was wonderful. Quick to come to the table and get drink order and promptly answered questions about menu items. My margarita (on the rocks) was...hands down the best I’ve had in quite some time!! No complaints either with our salads - fresh crisp greens with a decent mix of veggies. But out steaks were - MEH. My medium plus filet had been butterflied. SO DISAPPOINTING. While that might be acceptable for a well done request, it is NOT the norm for a medium plus steak. My husbands ribeye ($46?) was not remarkable as to taste either. He ordered it cooked medium and it wasn’t the least bit tender. Our previous DINING experiences here have been wonderful, but this time was NOT. We calmly and kindly told the server of our disappointment and nothing was done. He just apologized. Doubt we will choose this restaurant again. We visit Jackson often.More

When we travel, the Mr. and I like to expand our horizons and eat like the locals. In Wyoming that means 'wild game' so the Gun Barrel Steak & Game House was an obvious choice for us. We weren't disappointed in either the food or...the lodgey type atmosphere. The Mr. and I had the bison carpaccio as our appetizer. It was delicious! For my main, I had the buffalo bbq ribs, and the Mr. had the elk lollipops. Mine came with garlic mashed potatoes, onion straws, and green beans. This was a HUGE plate of food. Even as hungry as I was, I couldn’t eat it all. The Mr. had a more "modest" plate that included two elk pops, polenta, and green beans. I shared part of my plate with him. We both enjoyed our dinners. We considered dessert, but we were hoping for something "huckleberry" and they didn’t have that on the menu, so we passed on dessert. We didn’t have any alcohol. I drank water and the Mr. had iced tea. Total for 2 including a tip was $121.00. We thought it was worth it. Service was attentive without being intrusive.More

It's just not that good. It was not terrible, but just average. The atmosphere is pretty good, but the food is like a average chain restaurant. I do not recommend.

Because we would be spending most of our time in the national parks, I chose the Gun Barrel for our one “good” meal of our trip. We had an early reservation, and were promptly shown to our seats. As soon as we were seated, our...server was asking what we wanted to drink. We ordered cocktails, then were asked about our dinner choices. We each had a shrimp cocktail, my husband ordered the bison ravioli and I had the tenderloins. The food was good, the tenderloins were large, the ravioli was tasty. We had coffee and shared the apple pie for dessert. The only negative was the feeling of being rushed. No one was waiting, and it would have been nice to have our meal served in a leisurely manner so we could have enjoyed it more. I’d recommend this restaurant with the caveat that you request a slower pace should you want it.More

We had a nice dinner with good service from Annah. We had the French onion soup and buffalo carpaccio for starters. The soup was good but a little salty but the carpaccio was very good. The main course was Buffalo Robs and Prime Rib, the...ribs were fall off the bone tender but the sauce was only okay. The prime rib was well cooked and every good. We were talked into some desserts, we got them to go and both the apple pie and creme brulee were enjoyable.More

We had a wonderful visit to Gun Barrel! Our server was great and the food was delicious! We started with the potato skin appetizer. For our entrees, my husband got the filet and I got the filet medallions. I could eat those medallions every day,...they were amazing! We finished up with bread pudding and apple pie for dessert. The desserts were good, not great.More

The bar was not open but you could order from your table. We made reservations but still had a bit of a wait. Really cool place.
