This place was delicious! We barely got a reservation in w how busy it was, really that’s everywhere in Jackson hole, highly recommend making reservations to eat at least a day ahead, especially w COVID a lot of places are reservations only. But this place is a must! Has a full bar, awesome decor of wildlife, very cute cabin feel and amazing food, our server was great too. We had the bison brat as an appetizer and it was delish, the sausage and the sauerkraut and the little toastinis were super good. I ordered a special, bison ravioli which was probably one of the best things ive ever eaten. It was almost like a captures type dish. The ravioli was amazing and the sauce was so good, white wine, butter, garlic, baby tomatoes and basil i was loving everything about it! Husband had the ribeye and it melted in your mouth! It was huge portions too, daughter the loved the string onion toppings. She ordered the kids steak and it was amazing too, same thing, very tender and flavorful. I highly recommend this place! Plus they had creme brûlée which is our favorite dessert and it was perfect too. Honestly for 3 people, 3 beers, some Shirley temples lol and an app and desert, with a generous tip dinner was like $160 and that’s not bad and food was definitely worth it.

This was the best meal from our trip to Yellowstone National Park and Grand Tetons National Park. We had reservations which I strongly recommend as on our first outing to Grand Tetons National Park, we could not get a reservation until after 8pm. The service and food was excellent as was the atmosphere, a western steakhouse for sure. Their menu reflected the locale. My husband and daughter had the NY strip steak. I opted for the buffalo sirloin steak. All came with a choice of one side. Soup or salad was a separate charge but I had the best French Onion Soup of my life and I generally order it everywhere I go. Just wish we had reservations here the first time we were in Jackson. I also wish that they had one in Western Yellowstone, Montana, or Island Park, Idaho, where we stayed. Restaurants there just can't compare to this one. Hopefully, we will be out here again. We will definitely return.i just don't understand why this restaurant isn't rated higher or number one for that matter.

We were given this place as a recommendation from a local business owner, who we asked management about and confirmed there was no affiliation. The meal was AMAZING. We've traveled around the world (a great number of trips within the US, Europe and Caribbean) and this is hands down one of the best meals we've ever had! We decided to go the game route since that's their specialty; having the Elk lollipops (they were big like lamb chops) with a huckleberry and port reduction sauce and then the Buffalo BBQ ribs. Both dishes were so scrumptious we couldn't decide which one we liked the most! The service was fabulous and we were shocked at how quickly the meals came out. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and the meals and felt it was quite the value for what we paid. My husband is not big on ever eating at the same place twice but he was clear, the next time we're in Jackson we're going here for sure!

We heard from a fellow traveler that he’d enjoyed a lovely bison sirloin there and had to try it. It is quite expensive so we expected fine service and perfect food. Well, the service was slow, we were largely ignored by our server throughout our time there, and unfortunately there were issues with the food. I ordered the bison sirloin as recommended by our acquaintance and my companion ordered a beef steak. The server recommended rare or medium rare on the very lean bison steak and I chose medium rare. My companion doesn’t like steak to be too red so ordered the beef medium well. The server admonished that this is their “toughest cut” and asked if she’d like medium instead, but she made clear that the steak should be medium well at the least. When the steaks finally came to our table, my bison sirloin was inedible as it was cooked to well done. My companion’s beef steak was no more than medium rare and closer to rare. The server tried to claim the steaks had been switched but it was obviously not so. The mistake was reversing the requested temperature of the two orders. We refused his suggestion that we swap steaks because I ordered a medium rare bison sirloin and my companion ordered a medium well beef steak, expensive I might add, and that’s what we were going to get. He reluctantly had the kitchen prepare new steaks for us, as ordered this time, and when at long last the steaks arrived at our table mine was ok but my companion’s arrived under cooked— I’d say it was medium by most steak house standards. Also, the steaks had obviously been off the heat for some time and were by then only warm. By then we were very hungry and my companion reluctantly kept the steak but didn’t eat all of it as the center was too undercooked for her liking. Under the circumstances, we expected a visit by the manager, perhaps a complimentary appetizer while we waited for the second steaks, a free glass of wine, SOMETHING! But no such measures were taken to assure satisfaction. The server, when he was available that is, was a bit surly about all this, blaming “the kitchen” and acting as if we were being unreasonable. That said, the atmosphere is good. I feel I’m being kind to rate the Gun Barrel “average”

Restaurant reviews looked great but they were very deceiving. The place was not that clean despite the current times. Our waiter was unfriendly and rarely came around to check whether we needed anything. Our food was awful! Bison sirloin as tough as a boot and way too game-y...we have had bison before and this was terrible. Potatoes were flavorless, shoe string onions were hard and greasy, and the beef tenderloin that I ordered medium came rare. A chef in a steak restaurant should know the difference between medium and rare. All in all our party of 6 was not impressed and will not return.

The restaurant has very cool western/mountain decorations with statues of buffalo, foxes, elk and so on... The menu was unique with game and traditional meals. Very disappointed in the steak dinner I ordered. Came raw when I ordered medium. When I asked to have it cooked more it came back burnt on the outside which in my opinion is not edible. The waiter, Aaron, was rude and unfriendly. When I asked what comes with my steak dinner he proceeded to tell me green beans and a choice of 2 sides. When I told him I didn't want the green beans he proceeded to tell me that I had to take the green beans and that there was no choice instead of explaining that I couldn't replace the green beans but still had a choice of 2 sides. I literally had to tell him to leave the green beans off my plate. Very unhappy with the food and the service. Think twice about eating here, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from in Jackson. Disappointed visitor to Jackson.

I purposely waited until this afternoon to post this. I wanted to make sure my emotions were in check. After spending a week enjoying the Tetons and Yellowstone we wanted to end our trip with a good meal. Our waitress, Annah, was absolutely wonderful!! Plan to pay quite a bit more for average steaks. Out of our party of 6 people, 2 had their steaks served way undercooked. A flank steak and a bison steak (the more expensive of the two). After I brought the bison steak to our servers attention she took my daughter's steak and had them cook it some more. The manager came to the table and set the steak down without saying a word. My wife had a few more bites of her steak when she too came to a barely warm interior of her steak. It was at that point that I told our server that this was not acceptable. She went and talked the manager and he took off the cheaper of the two and offered us a free desert. You could tell she felt badly about the entire situation. At NO TIME EVER did the manager come over to talk to us even though he walked by our table 2 additional times after literally just sliding a plate in front of my daughter. Bottom line for me... the food is way overpriced for the quality of product being sold. Touristy is what someone else posted seems accurate. Whomever the manager was last night (August 2, 2020) should find a new line of work. I absolutely felt horrible for the situation he put her in. I did not take it out on her tips. She more than earned it. I would not recommend this place to eat to anyone moving forward.

We ate here our last night of our trip. The food was very good. My son tried the Elk chop and thought it was very tasty. My husband had a filet and I had chicken we were all pleased with the food and the atmosphere is very ‘old west’ Typical steakhouse pricing.

My husband chose this steak house for its great reviews and location. Hands down it has great ambiance however I felt the food was lacking. On the contrary most people walking out were telling the hostess how great it was so maybe it was just me. For $291 meal for a family of five I thought it should be more memorable. We started off with fried green tomatoes and the buffalo quesadilla appetizers. Nothin* special there. For my main I got the filet. I felt it was lacking major flavor and it was not that tender for being a filet. I think they forgot to season the meat. My oldest son complained about his steak lacking flavor so I got up and asked someone for steak sauce. We ordered dessert as well and once again I wasn’t impressed. If in the area sadly I would choose to dine elsewhere. It unfortunate because I really liked the ambiance and wanted to enjoy the food.

This place clearly markets to the tourists, is large, reasonably priced for what it is, average service, etc. While you can get a better meal elsewhere in town, the atmosphere, selection of game (buffalo, elk, etc) is good and you won't leave hungry. It's not fancy but it does good basic food pretty well. Do be aware it is very popular and if you don't want to wait a long time don't come without a reservation.

Food was good. But when requested more bread when our plate arrived (got 2 pieces for 2 people) we were told that it would cost $5 for extra bread. If you are only going to give your patrons 1 piece of bread at least ask when they want it , with their meal or before. I was highly insulted.

First, this restaurant is pricey in my opinion. $118 bill without tip. I ordered a ribeye & baked potato (no salad comes with it). My husband ordered the Elk chops & baked potato and added a cup of soup. Mine was cooked fine, my husbands was terribly undercooked when he got to the center (to the point that the waiter saw it and asked him if he wanted it at least brought to temperature). The service was fine, the food was fine, but nothing we can’t get at Outback (aside from the Elk). We didn’t try any of the appetizers….you do receive 2 complimentary pieces of bread before being charged for more should you want more. For a $55 dollar steak and $45 chops, we wouldn’t return. We did not have a reservation so we did appreciate being seated…it was a bit slower on a Sunday evening.

We dined here with our family of 5 while on vacation visiting the Tetons. The decor of the restaurant is classic old west and there was definitely a lot to look at! The menu is fairly simple with not a ton of original dishes. I had the Elk Lollipops served with carrots and polenta which was overall very good. The elk itself was delicious but the polenta was not very flavorful. I would have preferred mashed potatoes or a rice pilaf. My husband got the game platter which came with an elk steak, bison prime rib, and a venison sausage. He said it was excellent. The disappointment came with the kids meals. They only have 3 options on the kids menu! They had a grilled cheese, a burger, or chicken fingers. Our 3 kids didn’t want any of those options…. Our oldest ended up ordering a salad and soup. Our other two ordered the bison ribs and shared them as their entree. Overall the food was good but they definitely need more kids options. The decor was fun but I’m not sure I’d eat here again given the price and the lack of original menu items.

Came here on vacation and wasn’t expecting much. We ate at Gather the night prior and that place was amazing. Gun barrel not so much. Drinks were made with very little alcohol and when it came to my meal I was very disappointed. I order the bison ravioli and never have I eaten and ravioli in some type of soup. The sauce was not creamy and just soupy in general. Bison was over seasoned with pepper and this meal just wasn’t very good. Highly recommend Gather.

We chose this restaurant because of the wild game on the menu. The service wasn’t exactly fast, but we had a great waiter who knew everything about the menu. The food was excellent (recommend the buffalo ribs and apple pie especially).
