We loved our rooms with historic names and the staff could not have been any more friendly and helpful. The meals were delicious with plenty of variety for multiple visits. We were especially impressed with the owner/manager Christine, she was full of ideas about things...to do and places to explore. This will be a must for a return trip to Wyoming.More

No air conditioning in the guest rooms! There was one open window in the room but no cross ventilation. The ceiling fan was of little consolation. The daytime outdoor high of 83 meant at 10:00 p.m. our room was still at 78 degrees and never...cooled down below 74 degrees despite an outdoor low of 55. No television in the guest rooms! This wasn’t so bad because they do provide WiFi. Overall it’s a relatively small guest room. The bathroom is comparable to any mid-level hotel chain. The general decor is a reasonable attempt at recreating 1905 charm using mostly modern building materials and furnishings. You are pretty much a captive customer for the restaurant, since this is the only place to eat within a 45 minute drive. It was a Friday evening at 6:00 and we had reservations. Only 30% of the tables were occupied. Our server was polite but clearly inexperienced. Ticket times were 15 minutes for the salads, 20 minutes for the rolls and 40 minutes for the entrees. Price point was rather high for the food quality, service and atmosphere at $38 for a 14oz ribeye and $20 for a Buffalo burger. The ribeye was tough, stringy and chewy. Worst ribeye we’ve ever had. The Buffalo burger was dry and bland. At $175 for an uncomfortable room plus $70 for a bad dinner (no drinks) we will chalk up this experience in the “live and learn” column. There was once a lot of history made at this place but the best phrase to describe it now is “lipstick on a pig.”More

We wish you had mentioned some of your issues during your stay! At minimum we could have pointed out the portable fan in your room, turned on a DVD for you in the parlor, or offered to make you something else for dinner. Or even...More

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for a night. Our room was very clean, and the bathroom seemed newly updated. Yet, the decor of the room (and the rest of the hotel) was true to the historic Old West. The staff was kind...and welcoming. We enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs on the balcony at night to read. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant located in the hotel served delicious food and was very convenient. We would (and plan to) definitely stay here again!More

I ordered the chicken schnitzel to split with my sister....it took over an hour but it was a pleasant wait, quiet with 2 other guests....they split the food for us...didn’t charge extra for that...the food was out of this world! Waitstaff was the most pleasant...and accommodating you will find! I will return❤️More

With concerns about COVID-19 and social distancing, dinner at the Elk Mountain Hotel was a refreshing change! There was one other couple in the dining room and they were far away! We had a lovely dinner, a fabulous breakfast the next morning and the service...was impeccable! The staff is friendly and very attentive!More

Rustic flavor of mountain country. Particularly cozy in the winter when the fire is going. Save room for their desserts, too.

I love historic hotels and this one is charming but the food was over the top delicious. Best food we have ever had in Wyoming...Susan graduated from the Cordon bleu college in France in 1988. She takes pride in every dish. When you consider where...Elk Mountain is..nearly in the middle of no where...her delicacies are amazing. My duckling breast was perfect and I adored the sweet potato and white potato gratin my husbands chicken schnitzel was too good to share. We stayed in the Chandler room which was all antiques like the whole house but the bed was comfy. Nice bathroom and towels Breakfast was great too .....loved my eggs Benedict with salmon on potato pancakes. The French toast was extra crispy and tastyMore

What a gem! My husband and I stayed a night in this very quaint historic hotel. It is a well preserved hotel managed by the owners who are a very nice English couple. The hotel is clean and the restaurant is phenomenal. The lady who...runs the place with her husband is the chef. She is a French trained chef and her dishes are to die for. I had the Salmon pillowcase for my entree and it was perfection. Homemade desserts, salad dressings and breads. I could go on and on about how wonderful our experience was staying here. We will definitely be back!More
