Ended up with the prime rib which was tasty with really good mashed potatoes. First two items I chose from the menu were out so probably don’t go to eat late as I did. Felt sorry for the waitress but she was good helping me...over any disappointment.More

It was super, super busy on Saturday evening! It opened at 5 pm and we arrived just before 5:30 pm and felt lucky to get a table. Note: no staff wear masks and tables are not spaced. Our server -- a young gal -- was...delightful and every helpful, even offering her own opinion on menu items. The group of 4 she was also serving at the next table gave her a hard time -- mainly the older gentleman. He complained about the prime rib; he complained that the sides that came with it were smaller in size. He had gifts cards to use -- purchased under previous management -- which he was allowed to use, but told that they also would not be honored after about another week. He was very unhappy and said that they'd eaten there many times over the years -- he commented he was from Sheridan -- but that he'd never return. On the way out he asked us where we were from. We told him Minnesota. He said, "Here. There's $97 left on this gift card; enjoy your meal!" We had easily overheard all his conversation with the server and she handled him well, but there was going to be no pleasing him. We did use the gift card -- and then left our server a generous tip since we hadn't paid for our meal. (We were told we couldn't put a tip on the gift card which seemed odd to us; we were actually going to leave the balance on the card as a tip for her.) We returned on Sunday night, arriving at 5 pm, since there was still money on the gift card. We had another server ... a delightful young man who is originally from South Carolina. He too was willing to give us opinions about menu items and what his favorites were. We used the gift card again for our meal and left a very generous tip for him -- both bec of his fine service and bec we were not out of pocket for our meal. We had picked up on the website that there are new owners since June ... so that's about 2 months ago. Certainly the staff we interacted with were great; the food was great. Service was slow on Saturday, but the place was also packed and so it was a leisurely dinner. Sunday was not so busy so our food came very promptly as you would expect. We had never been here before, but would be willing to return if we were not just passing through. From other reviews, however, it seems this place is not what it use to be. New management will also bring some changes -- hopefully whatever has been changed will be for the better!More

The new owner has chosen to remove many items from the menu. The waitress didn’t bother to tell us what they didn’t have available from the menu. She had to leave the table to find out if they had chicken pot pie and then informed...me they didn’t have halibut after I ordered it. I decided to get the chicken pot pie because it is the only chicken dish they have. I told the waitress to let the new owner know i was saddened that he butchered the menu. The owner came to the table and proceeded to inform me it was his choice what they serve and I was welcome to leave and never come back. Apparently I’m not the only person upset by the menu. I stayed to eat with my family. When the chicken pot pie arrived, it was a bad chicken gravy served over a weird puff pastry. Definitely not worth $17. I’m a local Buffalo resident who will not return or recommend this restaurant. I’m very sad about this.More

Wow what a change…this was our go to place for special occasions. We have never had a bad meal or service here for many many years…new management now..service was TERRIBLE. Hostess was poorly dressed, atmosphere is not nearly as nice, food is not as good...either. Prices are high but never minded paying for the great experience in the past (not so true now).More

We found this restaurant to be a pleasant surprise, they staff was friendly and helpful, food was excellent. We had heard there were issues with under the new ownership, but we did not have any issues at all. It was quite busy but even so...only had to wait 15 mins or so for a table. Our server was excellent and the dinners we ordered were excellent. It is an old school steak house which executed perfectly, we would return if we could.More

Stopped in Buffalo for an overnight on a road trip. Winchester’s was nearby. Excellent steaks and dessert. The broccoli side dish was watery and overdone. Not to worry, the main course more than made up for that. My husband had the filet and I had...the rib eye. Both were done perfectly. Plenty left over for a nice sandwich for lunch the next day. Very good service.More

We ate dinner here on 7/15 while our way to Deadwood, SD and again on 7/21 while on our way back through. Both times the service was excellent and the food was delicious! The waitstaff was attentive, knowledgeable and on point with their service.

We ate dinner at Winchester Steakhouse today, Sunday, 7/11/2021 @ 5pm and, sadly, it was our worst experience ever. We are all Buffalo residents, have been very frequent diners here and we were all very disappointed. The service was slow, took 10 minutes to be...waited on or acknowledged; 10 more minutes for our salads, served before our drinks, which was we had to ask for again. My husband ordered a Caesar salad and got regular iceberg lettuce (not romaine) with caesar dressing. Although they still show the original 6 page menu online, the new menu is only 2 very limited pages. They used to serve fresh baked mini bread loafs and scones, but now only scones. We all 3 ordered the Chicken pot pie with a side potato. All of our meals were lukewarm and the chicken pot pie mixture that is added over the pastry was very skimpy. Winchester’s no longer offers the daily specials they have long been known for, yet you pay more for the few remaining items that were specials, but no desert or tea included. Most seafood has been removed from the menu. The Menu prices were all raised; less food, more money. During the 1.5 hours we were there, 6 diners looked at the menu and left without ordering. Also, a 25% gratuity is AUTOMATICALLY added to your bill. You can change the amount, but that’s ridiculous.More

Went here for dinner with my wife. We both got the daily special. Thin sliced beef in au jus. Super tender melted in your mouth. I got their vegetable beef soup (amazing) my wife got a salad and we both go baked potatoes. Everything was...exceptional! A small Sundae was included with the meal. We would definitely go back. Our server Jalisa (not sure on spelling) was great also!More

The bar is really small... only about 4-5 seats and no room to eat in the bar.
