The food was phenomenal! I had the gluten-free version of the Harper, which was so yummy! They substituted rice noodles for their regular noodles, which made this dish so tasry and allergen-free for me! The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was really cool. I also had the Purple Rain Martini, which was different, yet still very good! I love the history behind this great restaurant. Thank you, High Rock Cafe, for having gluten-free dishes on your menu. It took worry and misery out of our vacation!

If you are looking for a restaurant that provides dishes with entertaining tastes, then please visit The High Rock Cafe. We visited this establishment on a Friday and ordered the Squash soup and Panko Breaded Fish Fry. The soup was presented well with a dressing of pumpkin seeds. It was tasteful with subtle flavors of nutmeg and cloves. Very pleasant. The fish fry was plated very artfully, to display the fish, butter, coleslaw, herbed biscuit, & seasoned grilled vegetables. All items down to the seasoned vegetables were flavorful and very palate pleasing. Service was prompt and friendly. We definitely will return to enjoy another dish on their menu when we visit the Dells

We went with three adults and three kids 5 and under. Very accommodating waitress. She answered all of our questions and also thought of everything we would need dining with a group with kids ( extra plates, napkins. Spoons etc.) the baby was fussing and a gentleman (I assumed was the owner) came and kindly offered me an unoccupied space to settle him. It was super kind and just what we needed. The food was great and they give great portion sizes for the adult meals. The apple pie won tons were delicious! We will be going back next time!

We are locals. We went to this restaurant to celebrate my son’s 21st birthday. He has been here before and wanted to spend his golden birthday at High Rock. We had a party of eight adults. I was the 1st to arrive with 3 others. We were waiting for the birthday boy, his girlfriend and her parents. Because all eight of us were not there together, they REFUSED to give us a table until ALL of us were there in the restaurant before they would seat us. Mind you, this is 6:00 p.m., Wednesday in December, and the place is VERY SLOW. They hostess said if a group of eight walked in behind us, they would seat them first, and we would have to wait. I found this lack of hospitality and customer service deplorable. I have never been denied a table before because all of my party was not all there yet. When 2 more of our group showed up we asked will 6 be enough to get sat. She said she will have to ask her supervisor. As she stepped away, we all decided to just leave, and go to another restaurant. We were sat right away, spent our $200+ dollars and $30 tip and left with full tummies and had great service. Just imagine High Rock could have had our money, if they just put us at a table right away in the empty dining room, on a Wednesday, in December where every restaurant is fighting for $$$.

Service was great, food was average. We had the fried cheese curds as an appetizer and they were the best part of our meal. We both ordered burgers that tasted dry and flavorless, and the salads we ordered as sides were pretty sad looking. Our waitress was lovely and made sure we were taken care of, just wish the food was better!

I recently went to this restaurant for the Fish Fry. I took one bite of the fish (thankfully a small bite) and I started coughing and couldn't stop. My friend I was with said my face, arms and chest were turning red and she feared she was going to have to call 911. After I finally stopped coughing and settled down, I asked the waitress what the spice was on the fish. She said it was paprika but when she checked with the staff, they mistakenly used cayenne pepper!!! The man sitting next to me said "Free Dinner" but they did not offer that to me. I truly feel my whole dinner should of been free. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Easy to find on a corner on Broadway, this is a very popular eatery. We arrived early, a little after 5 on a weekday, and were seated next to a downstairs window. With upstairs seating also, they were seating people pretty fast by 5:45. Waitress was friendly and our order came quickly. My wife had a salad and potato soup which she enjoyed and I got the Zeppalin wrap with steak. Wrap was large with a lot of raw onion, sliced pepper and cheese. It was OK but seems like a lot of "stuff" just to fill the wrap. Waitress never refilled our water glasses but we figure we got what we paid for.

This spot was very clean and the staff very attentive. However, our meals were just okay. We had blackend chicken salad that was way over spiced ( I love spicy food but this was over the top.) Also got a Dirty Dog Martini that was horrible! Their policy is even if you don't like what you get you still have to pay for it. This is the first time I have ever been in a restaurant with that kind of policy. Beware!

We'd heard so many good things about High Rock, we decided to try it ourselves. The menu was tired and needs updating which made it hard to actually pick anything we really wanted to eat as anything that was offered, was something you could get anyplace else. We all had the meatloaf which was okay, not the best and not the worst. The pop rocks cheesecake was hard to eat, once you got into it, it was like eating a block of pure cream cheese-it definitely needed some blending. To be honest, it's a one-and-done deal here. Service was slow, making the wait between cocktails a very long one...with empty glasses all around the table.

Arrived for lunch at 1:30 on a Friday. Sat near several noisy families with kids. Even though there were only 5 tables with people at them. The server seemed too busy chatting with her co-workers to remember to do her job. Took forever to order our food. Ordered the Cubano sandwich and a cheese burger. The ham on the Cubano was burnt and the pork was so dry it was practically jerky. The burger was supposed to be medium and was also about as well done as you can get. Took forever to get the check as well. Bathroom door on upper level was so warped it barely closed. Will not return.

We used to enjoy coming here but they changed the menu and the food isn’t worth coming here anymore. My wife liked the soprano sandwich and it’s only offered in a wrap now. I never cared for their food because I only tasted the salt that they put on the food. Now all you taste is the smoked taste. I like the natural food taste with minimal seasoning and still now I taste smoke in my mouth. We also like the broccoli salad option instead of French fries and the only way to get them now you have to pay $7 for a ala carte option. The changes will definitely keep us away

We sat in the back room which was a little louder than most would like. Maybe an upstairs table would have gave us a better seat of view. The kids got mac and cheese, and one had fettuccine, all were generous portions and tasted fine, nothing special. Wife’s tuna poke bowl was good, lots of tuna. I had the philly wrap, which had very little meat, would not recommend. Overall the food was fine, but may have had a better experience just walking around getting food at the small shops through the area.

While on vacation we stopped here as a family. We ordered food and drinks. My drink tasted like cleaner and essentially it was my problem. Management wouldn’t budge to remove it off my ticket, replace it or add something to it to make it not taste like chemicals. I felt bad for my server because she wanted to make it right and was full of suggestions but didn’t have the support of her management team. I don’t understand the hard stance and the unwillingness to take a small step to make a customer’s experience better from someone in the service industry.

I used to really love this restaurant, but their menu changes regularly and this time there were almost no Gluten Free options. (For me it is not a choice but an allergy) Not even a Gluten Free bun for the burger. I was told I could have the salads or the pasta options. (With rice noodles) I ordered a pasta option but then the server came back and said it could not be done gluten free because the sauce had gluten. Talk about feeling embarrassed. He then offered some salmon selection with half the menu items removed. So here I am stuck with a kale salad. Was in the mood for a hot dinner, not a cold salad. In today’s culinary settings this is not acceptable for this level of restaurant. I have more options at my local pizza place.

The cheese curd appetizer was very good. My husband and I liked the meat loaf sandwich and my daughter liked her Caesar salad. My husband felt the size of the steak was quite small for the market price. Service was a little slow. The location is great. We sat on second floor by window. It was fun to watch the Dells scene.
