Fish Fry

We asked a local where they went for fish. He recommended another place downtown, but it had an hour wait so we asked the hostess to head us toward another restaurant and she recommended this place. Our fish was very good (both had the perch) and it was delicious but pricey. Potato pancakes are and added charge. Have never seen that before. I asked for apple sauce and it was not on my plate nor did the waitress return to ask how things were, so, never got the sauce. Not water refills either. So, food was very good, but service was a tad lacking. We would go again. You can always get a waitress having an off night,

Perfect curbside pickup.

My wife and I have always enjoyed the food and service at Riverside Brewery and Restaurant, but the current pandemic has kept their doors closed except for delivery and curbside orders. We ordered fish fries tonight to pick up curbside. First of all, the person who took our order was polite and friendly, and willing to explain the procedure the restaurant uses. I called at 4:00, but I didn't want to pick up the food until 5:45. The restaurant was fine with that plan. I paid by phone. I arrived at the curb at 5:43. By 5:45 I had the food in my car. A friendly runner with gloves brought out the food in a paper bag and deposited it through my passenger window with a friendly greeting. The food was, as expected, excellent! Thanks Riverside!

Great Lunch Place

5s all around; service, food & setting. Hostess was very conscious of where people sat; ensuring there was plenty of space between groups. The waitress was friendly, attentive & helpful. The lower level was filling up when we left & appeared she was the only server with 1 helper to clean & set up tables. She did a great job periodically checking all tables. Lastly, the food (yum). We had the chicken parmesan sandwich with beer cheese soup & prime rib melt with house-made chips. Everything was hot, fresh & tasty. You could tell the food didn't sit under a heatlamp waiting for someone to take to the table. The restaurant is on the river & looks like they even have outdoor seating. We'll definitely be back to enjoy the deck.

Went downhill

We were in as a couple at 3:30 PM on a Saturday so that is 1/2 before dinner specials. We decided to order 2 burgers and a couple beers. The burgers took 45 min to get and 1 came out burnt. We ask for 2nd refill of beer but it never came. Ask another waitress for that and she then brought us our 2nd beer. The manager did comp the 1at burger but at the wrong price of the cheaper burger. So after the long ordeal we didnt bother to tell her the mistake. Left waitress the proper tip anyway. But this place has certainly changed. The amount of fries is very skimpy too and you are no longer able to leave reviews on their Facebook page.

Best perch fish fry anywhere!

I've had the perch fish fry at Riverside numerous times now and it is always wonderful. It tastes delicious and to use tarter sauce on it would be a sin. I've had perch at various places and Riverside's is the very best, hands down. The extra cost for the potato pancakes is well worth it, too. And, the brews made right there are quite good as well.

Because of Covid decided on takeout. was new to area and was looking for good fish fry. Food was little hard to pickup, parking is small and dumpster in front blocked some of spots. had to take a couple passes to get a spot. After that it was fast and easy. Food was ok but tarter sauce was too pickily for me. The fish was ok, average. My try again down the road.

GREAT Food - GREAT LOCATION!!

After reading the reviews of this restaurant, we did the 35 mile drive to eat their fish fry and glad we did. First, they were able to seat us on their river view patio and gave us wonderful service all evening. We ordered fried cod along with fries, cole slow and rye marble bread. It ALL was very good. Definitely would do the drive again. Looking at the rest of the menu it has very good variety. Their beer is their own so if not familiar with the tastes, request no charge samples. Finally, we didn't know this since we just walked in, but they do take reservations we were told. Suggest reserving a river view patio table if the weather is nice.

Cute little place. Highly Recommended

We went for lunch based on the recommendation of a local. I'm glad we did. Very friendly and welcoming staff, and prompt service. Although the place was full it did not feel over crowded. Full menu, we had a fish fry lunch of Walley, a fried shrimp and a cod fish sandwich all very good. I would defiantly return when we go back to West Band.

Excellent food. Great friendly service. There was an error made somehow upon checkout. I was overcharged on my credit card and did not notice until after we left the restaurant. It took 3 days and several phone calls, but I was eventually refunded the over charge. Could have been handled better, but it was just "human" error and I was made whole. That incident will not prevent me from eating there again.

Bad day?

I don't want to disparage this establishment much based on one bad day....but they were having a bad day. As soon as we arrived the server told me food would be delayed because of a large group downstairs. The server, who told us he is usually the bartender, seemed frustrated but doing his best. We could deal with the wait but the food was sketchy at best. My wife has never sent back food before, but her salad consisted mostly of wilted spinach and old mushrooms. So...from what I could tell maybe the cooks were new and they don't have enough staff to keep things smooth. But...they seemed like nice people, and like I said, maybe just a bad day.

Late lunch by my self

Excellent bourbon street sandwich and creamy ale. Potato soup was cold but taste was good anyway. Didnt like that my change back was given in denomination that would give waitress a 22% tip or above.I left her in 20% and asked bartender for change to do that. I will leave an appropriate tip but shouldn't feel forced to leave larger. Didnt tell her soup was cold tho either.

Great place on the river

Came here on a Saturday for lunch and had the Portobello Mushroom Swiss Burger with fries. The mushrooms on the burger were awesome and there was a good flavor to the burger. The fries were good, too. Server was friendly. All in all, always a good place to go.

Very Disappointed

Made reservations on Wednesday for seating by the windows (with a view) on Saturday night. On arrival, was told there was a "mix up" and we were seated back in the corner behind the stairs. Food was just ok. Definitely not worth what they charge.

Dinner on the river

Went there on a Friday night and got told there was a 25 minute wait… luckily we got seated about 90 seconds later. Kyra’s chicken sandwich might have been a little over charred but it was still good. My fish was 10/10. Light on the side salad and we also spend 90 minutes in the dining area. Good atmosphere and food, would’ve gave 5 stars if it was a little faster.

Hidden gem in West Bend!

We had a very nice dinner on the outdoor riverside deck last summer. The food was delicious and the view serene, and the service was wonderful. The tables are nicely spaced apart. The only drawback was that it was a little bit buggy, but it was summer and riverside so that is to be expected.
