We had not been to Don Ramon before, but had seen this restaurant whenever we passed through Mayville. This was a good opportunity to try the location closer to home. The place features the usual Hispanic decor and colors. We arrived in early afternoon so...there wasn't much traffic inside. My husband ordered the Enchiladas Poblanas with Mole Sauce. The entree was accompanied by beans and rice, and my husband pronounced with chicken enchiladas as "delicious." I ordered the Quesadilla del Mar, and enjoyed the shrimp and scallops enclosed in the tortilla. It was accompanied by a small side of guac and pico de gallo. Each of our plates included a small salad of lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa, covered with shredded cheese. The pre-meal chips and salsa were good, and we appreciated that the salsa came in a 'pour-your-own' carafe. As with many restaurants that pump in music, Don Ramon's was far too loud, especially with the smaller number of diners in the room.More

I have eaten here several times now. The food is great and the service is good. It is a nice quiet place to jump into for lunch or dinner.

Best Mexican restaurant in town. Love the margaritas, especially the Texas Marg with blue agave tequila. Most flavorful salsa. Very affordable, especially if you are from out of town or taking your family out. Fast service. Never disappointed. Really nice family restaurant. The owner and...staff are very friendly. Love this place!More

Went for a late lunch with the family. Ordered shrimp, steak and chicken fajitas...took forever to get our food, but when it finally arrived the fajitas were burnt. Could not eat them, and informed waitress. She spoke with the manager, who told her we were...displeased. He decided to "take a drink" off our bill. Wait...WHAT??? I ate 2 bites, and you are going to charge me??? I approached the manager who then proceeded to tell me that he "has been cooking fajitas for over 10 ears, and that's how they are"...I replied that I have been EATING fajitas for over 20 years, and NO, they are not so crispy that they are inedible! At any rate, go downtown if you want good service and good Mexican food. We will never go to this place again.More

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food Don Ramon's is the place for you. The food has multiple flavors that hit all the zones of your taste buds. The meals are both filling and priced accordingly to the portion size you receive. If your are...stopping at Don Ramon's for the 1st time I would recommend you try a steak Burrito California. It is $10 and will fill most people up. Beverage wise you can get a 40 ounce tap beer. During happy hour they're $5! This is my second review of this restaurant because I truly and genuinely enjoy eating here. The staff is a wonderful group of people once you get to know them. I know all the servers by 1st name basis. The Owner just celebrated his 1 year anniversary at this location. Don's (as we call it locally) is a family friendly restaurant. Spanish is fluently spoken at this location as well as English.More

Don Ramon is my favorite Mexican restaurant with in a hour of my home. At this location it was originally built for a Dairy Queen. The staff accommodated the location to suit the best they could. The atmosphere is okay and you do get the...Mexican theme to go with it. The food is absolutely incredible. If you don't want spicy, they can do that and it is still amazing. If you want heat, be careful, they can BRING IT! My favorite meal is a Steak Burrito California. For $12 it will fill most people before they eat the beans and rice. My second favorite is the Quesadilla Chihuahua. Next thing I love about Don's is the Huge Dos Equis beer you can get for a few bucks. I think it is a 40 ounce cup and is under $5.00 off the tap. The prices do reflect the portion sizes accordingly and I find the prices a great value as most people will get a full meal out of their left overs. Only thing I would like this location to improve on is with there service. When they get busy they don't have enough waitress and servers to seat and serve a big rush of guest. Sometimes you have to wait a bit longer then you want. It is one of those situations you need to look around and see what your server is all doing. On those occasions when they're super busy I munch on the chips and salsa they provide for you for free when you're seated. Bottom line the extra wait is worth it as the food has never disappointed me yet. I give them a 5 for their food 5 for the value and a 3 for their service. I rate them very good and would recommend their food, but service does lack a bit some days. People are quick to complain, but slow to show understanding. Have patients the food is amazing!More

The meals were all outstanding , large portions and great flavor . The service was horrible . We were seated right away , menus and chips arrived in a reasonable amount of time . Then we waited and waited , after about 10 minutes we...were asked for out drink order but we had some questions .... so we waited and waited .... drink order taken and it arrived a short amount of time and our order was taken . We waited and waited ... EVERYONE else in the restaurant already had their food some were already leaving . Our waitress arrived and said that our ticket got lost ???? After another 15 minutes our food came . Very Good But Not worth the Loooooong wait . I don't know if they were short on staff or just mixed up or lazy .More

Visited at 1230 for lunch. Really enjoyed the fish taco lunch special, tastey moist cooked rice with flavor and seasoning. Homemade corn salsa, excellent. The $5 / 6.50 lunch meals were a good portion. Save room for the fabulous fried ice cream and cherro....large size...to share. Presentation and service excellent. So affordable. ThksMore
