We moved farther up north over a year ago and finding good pizza has been a problem. We were on our way home and thought we would give Ropa's a shot. Saw the reviews and ordered for pick up on the way home. Not going to lie - it is a bit pricey. The smell was almost unbearable but was delicious! The two hours home was sheer torture smelling the goodness. My husband had a sausage pepperoni. I had a green olive, garlic and feta. He devoured his - we had also ordered boneless wings (which were not tossed in sauce and you get a LOT in an order) - so I didn't eat all of mine. We both had 12" pizzas. This is where the TMI comes in. I have never in my life had such bad gas from eating pizza. Ever. Like hours of being a farty McFartster. Fortunately not horrid, melt the sheets, but - seriously - I could have been my own jacuzzi. Since I had the boneless wings - I thought - okay - maybe it was the grease in the wings - I'll have some of my leftover pizza while I watch the Cotton Bowl. Big mistake. Round Two of Fart-R-Us. Fart-tropulos USA. It was humorous to a point. Never have I ever been so harmonious! I've had all of those ingredients on pizza before. Never that combination though. I can assure you I will never have that combination again and unfortunately I am not willing to give Ropa's another try in case my system just doesn't like their stuff. It was delicious though!

It's been 18 months since we last traveled to WI, and decided to see if Ropa's was as good as we remembered it from our first visit in 2019. If anything, it's gotten better. This is pretty much a take-out place (there are a few seats, but it isn't really set up for in-house dining), but their deep dish can hold it's own with some of the better known Chicago establishments. Ropa's crust and sauce are both made in-house; the crust has perfect thickness and texture - crispy enough to be hand-held, but thin enough to not overtake the toppings. The sauce is chunky with great tomato flavor and not overly seasoned so that the individual toppings can still shine through. The pizzas aren't cheap (I think our 14" combo was around $22), but it had more heft than four "chain store" $5 pizzas combined. The two of us ended up getting three meals out of one pie, and it reheated great in the oven. If you're looking for Chicago quality deep dish in northern WI, this is the place to go. The next time we pass through the area, we'll give their Italian beef sandwiches a try.

Outside of the Windy City there are a lot of pretenders who advertise authentic Chicago-style deep dish pizza, but usually are only serving up generic thick-crusted pan pizzas. Thankfully, Ropa's is not one of those. We were making one of our infrequent treks from the east coast to the midwest, which almost always involve a stop at one of Lou Malnati's locales. But our route on this trip wasn't taking us anywhere near Lake Michigan, so in looking for something comparable, we checked out Ropa's. This place may not be Malnati's, but its deep dish is legit and would hold its own around Michigan Avenue. We ordered the large combo, and while the price seemed steep (around $23) compared to the national take-out chains, it was well worth what we paid. The crust was thin and crisp, with a nice layer of cheese, generous toppings, and a rich, chunky tomato sauce covering the pie. The quality of the pepperoni and sausage used was particularly noteworthy. If I had to make a comparison, Ropa's deep dish isn't a far cry from Giordano's. We didn't try their thin crust, but visual observation of the ones we saw being prepared suggest that they would be just as good. If this review was just about the pizza, I would have added a fifth star. But if you plan to stop, know that this is principally a take-out place. It sits in the corner of a small strip mall, has only three small tables for seating, and the staff - while generally pleasant and really good at making pizza - isn't well-versed in serving etiquette. Plates and flatware are all disposable, and parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes come in little packets rather than shakers. That notwithstanding, if you're in the mood for a genuine Chicago-style pizza and you are nowhere near Chicago, Ropa's is definitely worth checking out.

Thank you for the wonderful compliments! We do offer authentic Chicago Style Pizza and we have kept using the same fresh, made from scratch recipes since Ropa's started over 20 years ago. We are higher priced than the other franchise pizza places in town, but we hope that after one try our customers can tell why. We try to make people aware we are not a sitdown restaurant and are mainly a carryout/delivery, so they do not arrive expecting a large dining area. If anything, we have a seating area (capacity of 12-14) for convenience to those stopping in for lunch or more of a fast-casual meal. We hope that we still offer a comfortable setting for those that do stay to eat-in. Thank you again for taking the time to explain what you liked and what we can improve upon...it is greatly appreciated!!! And thank you for supporting small business!!!

On our way back from a long family vacation and we were looking forward to an authentic Chicago deep dish and Italian beef/sausage combo sandwiches. Found Ropas online and thought we had found it. We walked in and were greeted by a depressing atmosphere and an employee that was rather lacking in the social skills department. Placed our order, $56 for a meat Chicago deep dish and 2 combo sandwiches with 4 sodas. Food came out. Pizza was underwhelming in the flavor department. The combo sandwich sausages were very cold in the middle. I politely brought it to the attention of the employee who took the sandwiches and said he would fix it. 6 minutes later the food was returned to us. We opened the box to find our bitten into food had simply been slammed into the oven to reheat. Yuck. Just redo the sausage dude. Pretty sure you shouldn't be sticking half eaten food back into the oven. Yuck. Walked out and went go back again...save your money and go somewhere else that cares about quality. Attached is how our sandwich was returned to us. It's a shame, with some tweaking on the pizza recipe and some employee training might have potential.

I am extremely sorry to hear about your experience. This is not how we represent ourselves at Ropa’s and I’m sorry that you did not receive the quality product and service we are known for. We are a small, locally owned pizzeria and work extremely hard to create a high quality, fresh product. I will look into this matter. I hope you will give us another opportunity...

My mother lives in an assisted living facility, and I often order pizza from Ropa's and have lunch with her. We usually order thin crust half and half veggie and sausage supreme. The crust is crispy (even though it's a delivery), pizza is hot, and toppings seem fresh and are great. Plus they make an extra effort to find the location and keep me updated by phone when they are in the lobby. Highly recommend!

At the end of January, I ordered a loaded gluten-free pizza. They put LOTS of goodies on it AND the crust is 12 inches, not the usual 10. Combine it with a salad and it is fine for a couple. I have Celiac and eat gf pizzas often, both at home and in restaurants. Ropa's is excellent. Try it! One last thing. This is a place to order to pickup or have them deliver. There are a few tables, but not good for dining, especially in winter. The tables are just inside the door.

Great to hear you enjoyed it and we are able to offer this option! Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. Yes, we are mainly carry out and delivery with limited seating. We try to make people aware of this in photos and our description, so they are not expecting a larger sit down type atmosphere. Thank you again!

Two weeks ago my family and I were enjoying a Packer game, without any plan for food. At halftime, my parents said we should order Dominos and I insisted we could do better. After weighing our options in the Weston area, I suggested Ropa’s. It had to be better than the big box, generic alternative, right? BIG FAT WRONG. The woman that took my order was adequate, however it took until I place my well thought out order that she informed me the store was 90 mins out for delivery. 90 mins on a Packer Sunday? I get it. What I didn’t get was how terrible the food was when it finally arrived. The pizza fries were absolutely the worst I have ever (tried) to consume. They were void of cheese, with a crust that tasted like cardboard, and enough corn meal on the bottom to turn you off from corn bread for eternity. The pizza, a thin crust, was almost as terrible, as it had no flavor and our half and half pizza ingredients were not distributed correctly. After filling up on potato chips and wasting almost $40, my husband called to complain. We were told we would receive a gift card in the mail. 2 weeks later and not receiving anything, I decided to call and check in. The woman I spoke to remembered our complaint and assured me that we had a $35 credit on our account (which was much less than the 100% money back plus a free meal offered to my husband when he called) Flash forward a few weeks, my husband and I are hungry and decide, let’s give Ropa’s another chance. WORST. DECISION. EVER. After being on hold for almost 10 mins, the woman on the phone could not pull up my credit and put me on hold once again. After about 5 mins, manager Brian picked up the call, confirmed my credit and took my order. That is when he informed me that it would be an 1.25 hour wait for delivery.... at 330 on a Saturday. He apologized and explained they are short delivery drivers and I wished him luck. This place needs to get their act together.

After living in the Wausau area for 2 years now, we were still looking for a pizza place that has some flavor, Ropa's is it! We tried the "Best Of Wausau" winner and were left totally disappointed! Then we tried Ropa's. Great tasting sauce, and ingredients. The crust was perfect, (we like the thin crust well done). Can't wait to try their Deep Dish style!

This was my first time trying Ropa’s as I’ve seen great reviews! I ordered delivery online and the site indicated delivery in about an hour; cool. After a hour and fifteen I called to check on the order and it wasn’t even made yet but was told I’d have it by a certain time as I had time restraints. An hour and forty-five minutes went by, my time was ticking down and I get a call that the driver had issues and wont make it to me as previously told so my order had to be cancelled. I was crushed...and hungry! Thankfully they did credit my account and even bought me lunch today for the mix up. I have to say...I’m so glad I gave it a second try! While the wait time was still an hour...the calzone was well worth the wait! The crust is amazing and the sauce is very flavorful! While the experience started our rough...I’ll be back! Yum!

Be very careful when ordering online. I ordered what I thought was a sausage pizza. It ended up being a sausage classic which comes with sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and onions. Needless to say my kids will not eat it and neither will my husband or I, we're not too keen on green peppers. When I called they did nothing to correct the problem and I will never order from them again.

Ropa's has great Chicago-style pizza. The crust is flaky and has great flavor. The pizzas are loaded with toppings and the signature tomato sauce on top. In a world of $5 pizza deals, Ropa's stands out because of quality and taste.

We decided to try Ropa's for our pizza fix and we were very happy with our delicious choice! We ordered and picked up and the man and the man at the service counter was so kind and friendly! The food smelled fantastic! We thought the spicy garlic cheese bread was excellent and the sausage mushroom pizza was one of the best we have had in the area! We will definitely stop in again! Thank you Ropas!!!

This is one of the best we've had. Big enough for my bride and I to share. Crust, seasoning, marinara sauce, fillings were all fantastic. Plus the cheese, rich and full. This is definitely a take out restaurant. There are a couple tables but they focus on carry out and delivery. Enjoy!!!

We had pizza and breadsticks (carry out.) The food was ready on time, and not expensive. The staff were eager to get us everything we needed. Everyone loved the pizzas!
