This place has good food, period.

This place has good food. I was passing through town & happened to stumble upon this place. I ordered 4 different tacos Each one better than the previous one. I also ordered some Elote(street corn). I was surprised it was served in a cup & not on the cob(that’s part of the fun of eating it for me) Nonetheless, the Elote was good. They has fresh Horchata. The food was so goo that I decided to get a burrito bowl to go to eat later for dinner. I give the bowl a thumbs up as well. They gave me a nice size portion so much so that I had enough for lunch the next day. They even included tortillas chips with my to go order( I had a previous bad experience with another restaurant so I’m appreciative of this place). Anyway, if I’m ever passing through Wausau again I’ll make sure to stop by & have lunch.

Great food and great prices

I have been there most recently on my birthday. The first week of January 2020. I was treated exceptionally well. We come to this eatery often. We've never been disappointed with the food, service or pricing. I think it's the best tacos in town!

We are locals and this place is amazing! The food is so good. They have amazing service. The steak tacos are unbelievable. Personally love the cucumber margaritas! By far the best Mexican food in Wausau.

Nice place - too crowded

Food is like Mexican food you get in California. We loved it. Place was overly crowded though. Need some crowd control during lunch hours.

La Taqueria is GREAT!! A mix of fast food, & "sit down & have dinner with us". My husband had a beef burrito, I had a steak quesadilla, we split an order of street corn (YUM!) & a 1/2 order of rice & beans. We brought home enough for lunch tomorrow (if we're hungry by then ;-). My brother had El Pastor (marinated pork) tacos 1/2 order of rice & beans - smiled with each bite. Staff super friendly, service prompt, food delicious & creatively plated (little metal pans - cool! I'm gonna copy that) Mgr not only stopped by to ask if all was good, he was cleaning tables & floor (not that it needed it - place is very clean!) Definitely my new Wausau Mexican food source!

A recommendation by our innkeeper is what caused us to stop at LaTaqueria. I was expecting a sit down restaurant with ambience. Instead, we pulled up to what appeared to be a fairly new, fast food restaurant. Disappointment soon turned into happiness. The chicken tacos and shrimp tacos were authentically delicious, as were the rice and beans. An order of chips and salsa were enough for two of us to share. While we didn't indulge, the desserts in the refrigerated cases looked scrumptious.

As good as when we were in Mexico. Clean restaurant & friendly staff.

When a customer suggested taking us out to this restaurant for lunch I had my doubts. However, I quickly changed my mind. The parking lot was completely full and actually overflowing. But we all made room for each other and everyone coming and going had a smile. The area in front of the counter was packed with people but it was orderly and quick. I looked over the menu, but my eye caught the specials board and I went with the shrimp tacos. Wow. These were great. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and all ingredients were fresh with great flavor. I also had a suggestion from my customer to try the grilled corn (in a bowl because it's easier to eat than the corn on the cob selection). Three of the four of us got the corn, we all thought this was extremely good as well. We would say - Highly Recommended!

THIS HAD TO BE THE WORST MEXICAN FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD !!! Overpriced and nothing there, the only thing big was a burrito packed full of soggy French fries and not much else but a pile of rice. Save your money and go else where, there are plenty of other places in the area that are much better.

Good Mexican in Wausau who knew?

What a treat to find good Mexican food in the middle of Wisconsin. Friendly service, lots of choices and quick take out. And to top it off the food was real good and the shrimp and pineapple salad was great.

Not sure if they're still open

I had heard good things about this place but I'm not even sure if they're still in business?!? I've tried to call 5 times now and they either no longer have a phone or their phones don't work! On way or another, if they're still in business it screams terrible customer service so go somewhere else!!!

Amazing food and pleasant environment

This is some of the best Mexican food we have ever had. The restaurant is clean and pleasant. There are TVs with sports on in one part of the dining area, without it disturbing diners in the other area. We will return here again.

Best Mexican hands down!!!

Food was excellent. Haven't had food this authentic since I lived in San Francisco. A must try, helpful staff and friendly. You will enjoy the street taco way to order, ask for help if you need or grab the menu by the register.

great Mexican street food

I have been several times since they open. I am unable to go as often as I like as my husband isn't a fan of Mexican, I haven't had anything that I wouldn't have again. The servings sizes are good. Don't go expecting taco bell style of Mexican, of the area Mexican restaurants in the area, here you will find authentic Mexican
