Try the corned beef, they make it there and you can really tell. I always appreciate a restaurant that starts from scratch. Frozen never really cuts it. Breakfast is also very well done, eggs cooked perfectly.
We have lived in the area for years and never tried this place. Finally decided to check it out. It is small and locally owned. Our server was nice. The food was good and served fairly quickly. Price is reasonable. Bring cash or check. They...do not take cards. They do have an ATM on site so you can get cash if needed.More
Stopped here for a late breakfast while in town for a class reunion. I used to go here when in high school. Still the small tiny place and good food. If you like a hearty breakfast this is your place. Excellent food and fast and...friendly service. The prices are in line with other restaurants, nothing out of time. Although the noise level can be noisy. We had a couple siting very close to us that were a little obnoxious but the restaurant can’t help that. Thank goodness they left so we could eat in peace.More
If you are looking for fancy, keep looking! This is a local, family owned restaurant that has been in business for many years. It is your typical "coffee shop" atmosphere.
They have the basics like burgers and breakfast. Prices are typical for this type of...fair.
If you are looking for a piece of local Watertown flair, check it out.More
I've been to Zwieg's many times over the years &, for me, it's a must visit place when I'm in Watertown, WI! I LOVE the Mom & Pop ambience, the "local flavor". It's small & "old school", having been in business since 1946 & I'd...been craving the grilled cheese sandwich, crinkle fries & a Coke (free refills) for 4 yrs & I was not disappointed! Natalie has been working there since she was a teenager & is delightful, as were Mr & Mrs Zwieg, who are definitely involved in the restaurant, not just the named figureheads. The decor includes old photos & signs & there is a guest book for visitors to sign. If you are looking for a "yuppie" or "hip" restaurant, keep moving. If you're looking for good, home style cooked food & enjoy talking to people, visit Zwieg's, where the locals go!!More
We were in Watertown, Wisconsin recently around lunch time and read the reviews of several smaller restaurants as well as drove around "downtown" Watertown, deciding to try Zwieg's as it look sort of quaint and clean from the exterior. They have a small parking area...out front where we parked and decided to take the step to eat there, not really needing a huge meal. We almost left as we entered - first impressions were not great for us - the counter area looked disorganized so we tried the general seating area - six tables - no place mats or table coverings - so we decided to stay. The menu was fairly diverse, including dinners. My lovely partner chose to order a bratwurst on a bun and I ordered a BLT. Our wait person was pleasant and personable, so we were somewhat encouraged. According to my lovely partner, her brat was good (on a toasted bun) and my BLT was fine (on toasted white bread - no choice of bread - and the bacon was done as I like - with good tasting tomatoes). Zwieg's was not our usual, but all in all it was OK. We would certainly try another restaurant the next time in Watertown..More
