Since I live nearby I frequent this gem regularly. Once again I had great food and service tonight. I had the Wisconsin Burger with fries and a salad. My sister had the salmon. She can't stop talking about how good the salmon is. My meal...was great as always. Even though we ate quite a bit, we couldn't leave without their homemade desserts. I had the chocolate chip cheesecake and my sister had the cherry pie. Both were fabulous. Service was great as usual as well. Katie D. was our server tonight and she was very friendly and attentive, filling our drinks before we needed to ask. Take it from someone who has more than 1 review on here. This place is truly a gem with quality food, charming country atmosphere, and great friendly service.More

We visited in September of last year and did not have the best experience. We decided to give the Sawmill Inn another chance (April 15, Good Friday). We stopped at 3:40, noting that the restaurant was a third full. Patiently waiting at the hostess desk,...a waitress finally seated us. After looking at the menu, we continued to wait. No hostess in sight, no manager in site. The manager showed up as we were getting our coats on. His response was probably the worst..."Why didn't you tell me?" The tone was very unprofessional and uncalled for. We also noticed that their fish fry prices are higher than other local area restaurants ($4 more per plate). Being from the area where locals are asking for business, it seems like the Sawmill forgets about the importance of its own community people. The owner truly needs some hospitality training.More

I ordered the chicken dinner that came with a choice of soup or salad. I chose the soup. My husbands chili arrived and still no soup served to me. Our main dishes arrived at the table after my husband finished his chili and were served...by another waitress. I told that waitress I never got my soup. She didnt apologize but did bring the soup.. I tasted the main entree and it was stone cold ! The original waitress came by and said she didnt know what she was thinking about serving the chili to my husband and not bringing my soup, again no apology. I then tell her my entree is cold and she ASKS ME what she should do about it. Should she microwave it or bring a new dish or bring a box to go? Do you really ask the customer? You should apologize and immediately remove it from the table telling the customer that you will return with a hot meal. I ate my soup and without asking for one she brought a to go box . When we were asked about if we wanted dessert we declined . She then came back and again asked if we wanted dessert at this time I asked to speak with the owner. He came to the table with his hand on his hip. I politely described the events . He did not apologize but told us "she is a good server" I also asked him what was in the dressing because there was a piece of what looked like chopped steak and I sliced it so that he could see the grain in it , he insisted it was probably bread because he "made it." Again no apology and he asks me what he should do . My husband offered how about not charging us for the chicken dinner . The owner did agree to this . We now proceed to the counter to pay for my husbands meal , The owner is at the counter standing there with his arms crossed. I asked what is going on , we are waiting for change . The waitress says to us that we will have to wait to get the 79 cents owed to us. Wow what a novel idea in giving back the correct change !!! The owner definitely needs to teach his servers to apologize for an error in service , The owner also needs to correct his body language and attitude when speaking with customers by not coming to the table with his hand on his hip . This shows an attitude of not accepting any responsibility for errors . The owner obviously didnt like being told that the service and food were awful. We wont return and we will suggest others do not go here either.More

Came here on a Saturday for dinner. The restaurant was so beautifully decorated for the holiday season and just looked so nice. I always enjoy coming here and so glad it is close by to where I live. Tonight I had the Wisconsin Burger with...coleslaw and they both were fantastic. My iced tea was also fabulous and I could tell it was freshly brewed. Our server was friendly and our meals came out right away. Would recommend this place any time. I've been coming here for about 20 years and have only had good experiences with great food.More

Had breakfast with my daughter yesterday morning. I always order Eggs Benedikt, Yesterday instead of Canadian Bacon they pilled a stack of shaved ham on the bun, very different flavor and texture. My daughter had corned beef and eggs, they threw the toast on top...of the eggs, that they came broken when it was served.More

I'm so glad to have this restaurant miles from my home. For years it has been a place to take friends and family to as it never disappoints, and tonight was no exception. Came here for an early dinner on a Saturday. I had the...chicken and broccoli dinner with rice and it was very tasty. There was just the right amount of lemon and the seasonings were really good. Although I was full, I did splurge on the chocolate chip cheese cake which was divine. My sister had the balsamic chicken wrap and cherry pie and she was also very satisfied with her meal. McKenna was our server and she was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Another great dining experience in the books.More

The owner George Boggs has ruined this once very nice establishment. We brought my parents here for a week day brunch. My dad has stage 4 lung cancer and struggles with cooler temperatures. The ceiling fan above us was making him very cold and very...uncomfortable. We asked if it could be turned off and were told it is a master switch that would turn the other two fans off in that dining room and that nothing could be done. After seeing my dad continue to struggle the solution seemed simple. Either turn all the fans off for 30 minutes or I could easily stand up and gently pull the chain switch that is on all ceiling fans and would turn it off. Unfortunately the little 2" chain was frail and broke off. I told the delightful server what had happened and sincerely apologized. The Owner George Boggs came out to yell at me 3 times. With a loud and angry tone he said, "I don't come to your house and break sh!t", and continued return to yell at me for touching something I wasn't supposed to. I'm sure the other two customers that were in there were disturbed by his behavior as well. This guy doesn't deserve anyone's business! My family was in shock and it ruined our day.More

Just ordered out; first time ever. Ordered 1 poor mans with sweet potatoe fries, one fried fish with regular fries, one chicken tender basket. Bill seemed high. I looked at it line by line- were charged for 2 chicken tender baskets, one baked fish, one...fried fish. I pointed it out to the person checking me out and she went and looked at her computer, came back and said “it only charged you for one chicken basket, not sure why the receipt says 2.” I asked if this needed to be void and re run correctly - she said no, it was correct in the computer. I asked former correct amount the bill should have been, crossed out the numbers on the receipt and put the correct numbers. Got home and checked my card. Nope, wasn’t corrected. I was charged for a chicken basket I never ordered and never got. Then unpacked the food. Got one fried fish with regular fries, one chicken basket, and one baked cod in a plastic dish. No sweet potato fries, no drawn butter, no nothing. Just fish in a container. That’s my experience, you heard it, draw your own conclusion. How would you rate that experience? Actual food we got was alright but nothing special.More
