Jake's is a charming, rustic restaurant that reminded us of the National Park lodges out West. We had the best seat in the house as we were in the main dining room and faced a roaring fireplace. There were a few secluded dining areas adjacent...to the bar suited for more private service, but we enjoyed the atmosphere in the bigger room. Social distancing of the tables was well done without removing so much furniture as to make it feel abandoned as some restaurants have done. The menu was extensive featuring steaks and seafood , but the prices were more what you would find in Las Vegas or New York. The cocktails were well made but almost miniature considering the glass was almost filled with a giant ice ball. It hurts to pay $12 when you can buy a fifth for a few bucks more. Our server, Adam, was very cordial and professional and took time to chat with us. Our New York Strip was very good as were our onion strings and bacon wrapped water chestnuts. Jake's is not quite on par with a Ruth's Chris steakhouse but the prices are just as high. But we enjoyed our evening as we don't mind paying a little extra for the atmosphere that we gravitate towards.More

Very disorganized, the hostess at least realized it and apologized. Service was beyond slow and it’s not like the place was packed. We sat down at 7:05 and didn’t even see our waitress until 7:20, finally got our drinks at 7:40 and appetizers at 8:00....The food was ok, no complaints there. The cooks definitely have their temperatures down. If you tell them rare, rare you get! Creamed spinach was ok, cheese spread was average at best, baked potato was barely baked. French fries should really be advertised as shoestring fries. Due to the speed (or lack thereof) of service we won’t be back. I’m all for a leisurely dinner but 2:15 for 2 people?More

With 5 PM reservations we arrived to find the restaurant without power. Manager Andy met us in the lot and said power was on but to wait 20 minutes as the AC needed to catch up to cool the place. We waited in a hot...parking lot and were finally seated. Another manager would but you a glass of wine or an appetizer but not here! By the way the food was superb. Steaks- fantastic! Onion rings are the best! No bread, though. An odd excuse by our server said no bread at the table. We had been to other places and bread was available. Too bad. It easily could have been 5 stars. Try harder, Andy.More

Good food. Good drinks. Good service. But it's so dark. Im all for some good ambiance, but it was so dark in the dining room that EVERYONE in the place was pulling out their cell phones ifor light in order to see the menu. If...you want it that dark, at least add some candles, or wall sconces or something. But this took away from the experience.More

We go to Jake's a couple times a year to celebrate with friends and family. We always ask for the private room because we are usually 10+ people. 3 times in the last 1-2 years, we have been assured the private room only to find...out when we arrive that they have no recollection or record of that. This is very disappointing when you have a large group planning to spend a lot of money and a different experience in mind. I can understand a mistake, but the last 2 times we have gone (once was on a Monday evening, not even a weekend) planning on the private room, we were not able to be seated there. The staff is always apologetic and accommodating, but it's frustrating. The food and service is very good so we will likely be back, but I do think they cater to their "regulars" as the restaurant has been around a long time.More

We booked a table for 5 at 7:45PM on 10/19/19. Arriving on time we were asked to wait for 15 to 20 minutes at the bar. Bar was crowded, full of people waiting to be seated, no place to seat. Standing with our 2 young...child’s, we did not get the chance to order anything. At 8:30PM, we eventually decided to leave as nobody came to take care of us. Disappointed by the level of service and this overbooking situation.More

This restaurant has been around for a very long time doing steaks (and other food) very well. The severs are all very experienced and fun, the food is great, and the wine list has great wines to pair with their food. The haystack (or mole...hill if there are only one or two dining) of onion rings are delicious, and the steaks are second-to-none. One of my favorite entrees is three tournedos of beef, which are each a 3-ounce filet, but each with a different topping. Cozy fireplace, can dine in the bar area, two private dining rooms, a great place.More

Absolutely the most over priced ever. They cater to old regulars. Tables open but forced to eat at the bar or wait over an hour. Ate the bar and over priced crap. I orderee their best steak and prepared terribly. At 630 out of my...favorite side. Sent steak back. Next version was rare. They suck.More

The service was good and being Jakes, it was on the pricey side. The atmosphere is nothing really special but is ok. We will go again for their Friday Fish Fry, it was very good.

Went there last night. Had not been there since it was located on North Avenue. Pleasant surprise. Still just as good as it always was. The onion straws were as they always were. Will be back.

I would allow about 40 minutes from Jake's to the theater. Enjoy!
