Homier than home

We try to buy local while travelling and the Trip Advisor reviews for this particular coffee shop sounded like it had the potential to be a great experience. We were not disappointed. We ordered Americanos (espresso and water) which was flavorful and smooth, very well prepared by the barista. But... read more

This restaurant relies on atmosphere to sell the food. There's a library tone to the place. The coffee is average. I had the egg bake, which I felt was a so-so value, and nothing special taste-wise.

The lunch menu was limited and they were out of soup. So it ended up being an over priced sandwich and chips. This was coupled by a snide remark by the barista. Probably will try another spot next time.

Very tasty comfort food. Try the "baked oatmeal", a great specialty. I am not a coffee drinker, but hear that is very good. I go for the food, tea, and the used bookstore inside.

Great place to enjoy various coffees, read a book or paper, gather with friends, or grab and go. Shelley and the crew have tasty pastries and other entries.

Had an excellent time here with my girlfriend and her babies. Great place to catch up and have a coffee or 2. I suggest the baked oatmeal, with a bit of cream or milk on top, heated! YUM!

We visited Shellate's because our regular coffee shop closed. We found it to be warm, friendly and comfortable. It appears that there is a good mix of regulars and people seeking a new coffee connection. The place is divided up into several comfortable rooms so you can have privacy if you wish. The lunch menu is simple but there were... More

Our crochet group meets here twice a month. Shelley reserves a big table for us. Some of us order breakfast (huge slabs of baked oatmeal with fruit covered in whipped cream or vanilla yogurt), some of us just order coffee (two choices, plus a decaf) or hot chocolate (again smothered in whipped cream) or a smoothie, and some of us... Nice coffee shop to sit and read or buy used books. I liked the baked oatmeal with some type of berries in it. The people were friendly and not the usual chain type, cookie cutter coffee shop.
