It's a lovely lakeside seating area, also with an indoor setting that looks like a lodge. We were in from out of state and loved everything about it. (I had been here last year for lunch with a friend). The menu has a wide variety...of American classic dishes. There were at least 8 things I would have ordered. I settled on pot roast and mashed potatoes (since we're living in Mexico this year, I haven't found it yet!) It was just like "Mom's". Yummy. Needed a take home box . My family ordered: Brewhouse wedge salad, shrimp scampi, and one small filet. All were impressed. I did think the steak was overpriced. ($38). Our server was attentive, drinks were standard prices for such a nice place. Hope to return next year!! PS. It was very popular, I recommend making a reservation like we did.More

0. I just want to warn people that come here. The service is soooo slow. We had reservations and showed up on time. We were seated and after 20 minutes of nobody coming up to us, we went to the server and was told we...would be helped. 10 minutes later someone came up to us to take order order. After that, it was another 20 minutes before we got drinks. We also sat watching the bar make it and then it sat there for 10 minutes, meaning it is watered down. We finally got our food 1.5hrs after being seated. The excuse from the manager was they had a party of 12 and 13. So what’s the point of the reservation then. When the food came, the fries were soggy and the bun was rock hard. When we send something, the server said we were the third people to say that. Unbelievable. And this is the SECOND time we were here and had the same experience. BEWARE.More

We visited Bass Bay with some dear friends from Florida to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary and our 34th as we share the same anniversary date. We actually chose Bass Bay on the date of anniversary and we recommended it to our friends. We opted...to bring a very fine bottle of wine ($150 bottle) to celebrate this special occasion and were expecting and prepared to pay a corkage fee, as most fine dining establishments offer this service. The manager came up to us and told us that no outside liquor was allowed in the restaurant. The way he stated this was as if he thought we were trying to pull something off here and were ignorant. Apparently this manager has never dined at a fine restaurant and has certainly never visited wine country! We returned the bottle to the car and proceeded with our celebration. Things only got worse. Alyssa, our server, did bring us each a glass of celebratory champagne after I presented her with an email from the restaurant offering the champagne. Three of us ordered a glass of wine when we ordered our meal. My husband did not do that and was never asked if he wanted anything to drink with his meal, so he drank water. The server also never asked if we wanted any other beverage or dessert. Butter is never served with the meal here unless you ask as couple of times, which we did. I am not sure what the deal is with that process. The restaurant was so loud that we could not hear each other talk at a small table for four people and there was some base sound which sounded like it was coming from upstairs during our entire meal. To finish the evening off, our server brought the bill for the meal while one of the people in our party was still eating her meal. Bass Bay was a favorite in the past, but we were totally embarrassed that we chose it to celebrate our anniversaries with our friends from Florida and will think twice about dining there again. I apologized to our friends and told them that I should have picked a nicer establishment. In full disclosure, I did let the restaurant know by messenger of our experience and they asked for my phone number to discuss the situation further. I did provide my phone number but stated that I did not want anything from them, so they never called to discuss the experience. (I was not looking for a free meal). I thought they should know about our experience. I am writing this review so that others know what they may run into while dining at Bass Bay.More

Waitress and manager were inept. We were a table of five. Waitress never returned after ordering while we waited for over 30 minutes for food, while we saw two tables around us being served. Finally caught her I and were told the kitchen was backed...up, but food would be up soon. No apology. After 5 more minutes we captured the manager, and he gave us the same story. When our food finally arrived, one of the tables that came in after us was finished eating and getting up to leave. No apologies, no offers of appetizers or drinks as compensation, and no reduction on bill. Our recommendation is be your own advocate early, before you have to become mad. We have eaten here before, but will not return and will share our story with others.More

Reservations for 4 were for 545pm on a Friday night. We were sat promptly, if not even a little early. And that’s where the positive comments end. Our waiter took about 15 min to come and get a drink order. The drink order took another...15 min to be delivered. The waiter took our dinner order ….. about 30 min later he came back and told us he forgot to put the order in AND threw away our the paper he had written it down on. We gave our order to him again. When our food was delivered, 1.5hrs after we sat down my order was wrong. (No way I was sending it back). The fish was terrible. Dry and over cooked. Everything was straight from a can, nothing home made. Very disappointed.More

Heard a lot of good things about this place so decided to try it out. Had 5:30 PM reservations for a Saturday, got there 5 min early and was seated right away with a "your server will be right out. No one came to take...a drink order. We were seated at a table for two closest to the restrooms right on the main drag to the kitchen. Other tables near us were seated after us and had their drink orders and food orders taken right away. still no waitress. Finally the waitress showed up and started into her "specials of the day" speel, no offer of appetizers or drinks. I interrupted to inform her that we did not have our drink orders taken yet. She got snippy and said "i'm getting to that" or something. she took our drink orders and we did not see her or the drinks for over 10 minutes. When she came back with the drinks she asked what we were having and we asked about the prime rib as it is not on the menu. After the order was placed, we did not see the waitress again. the food came out quickly and cold. The traffic past our table was non stop with people going to the rest rooms and wait staff going back and forth. We finished our meals with no further visit from the waitress but as soon as I put my napkin on the table signifying we were finished she was there with the check not even asking if we wanted another drink. We promptly paid and left. We will not ever be going back. We will tell everyone we know of the horrible service.More

Very disappointed. I called on a Thursday for Saturday reservations for Outdoor seating. We get there and they tell us that they have us in their screen room. That's not what I reserved. Meanwhile there were several open tables outside. But they told us they...were booked. Food was just ok. I wouldn't go back. There are a lot better places to eat.More

Nice place on a Wisconsin lake! We walked in on a Tuesday night at 5:30 pm and were told at least 60 minutes for a table with plenty open inside and they on the patio. The hostess suggested we could sit at a bar table...immediately and order food and drinks from the bartender, so we did. The bar staff could not have been more accommodating! They took our orders and delivered food & drinks to our table. The fish fry, spicy chicken panini, and cheese curds were all very good and brought out in a timely manner. Our servers were great on a very busy Tuesday night. The lake view and outdoor area were very nice. The only negative was they were out of ice cream & could not make grasshoppers for us at the end of our meal. We will definitely go back anytime. We did hear a few locals discuss how the restaurant is very under-staffed and that’s why there’s a long wait for a table. Definitely make reservations any night you go.More

We had a reservation for 7:15 on a lovely Saturday night. They were very busy, but when I checked in, I was told that the people at our table had finished eating and had finished paying their check but hadn't left yet. 15 minutes later...I hadn't heard anything and went up to the person who had the iPads with the tables on them for seating and asked if out table was ready yet. We were immediately seated, so it is a good idea to pleasantly check from time to time. After about 10 more minutes our server came to our table. After that point, the service was good and we finished dinner and left exactly 1 1/2 hours after our reservation time, which overall is about normal. I started out with a wedge salad. It was large, with abundant blue cheese dressing, tasty bacon bits and small tomatoes. A very nice wedge salad for $6, My wife and I both had the Wurst platter. The sausages were truely excellent, the potato pancakes were a bit overcooked, but still OK. Overall, the food was quite good. The wine list is very small and the beer list is OK. They have a very, very large liquor list. The setting is very, very nice. Our total bill, including a glass or wine and 2 beers was a reasonable $90 including tax and tip. If possible, going during the week when they aren't so busy is proably better. When they are busy, be prepared to wait. Had we not had to wait and had been seated at our reservation time, I would have given them 5 stars instead of 4.More

I have gone to this restaurant many times and love it. Normally I would give this place a 5/5, but last night is the exception. Now I know they were busy. We made reservations, but still had to 30 minutes for a table. This was...while 4 hostesses, stood around the desk, called each other and twirled their hair. No interaction with customers, just with each other. They didn't look or act professionally. Drinks were forgotten, or incorrect. We waited about 45 minutes to get our food. Waitress never checked back in. Had to ask someone else for butter and our drinks. The bartender came out to ask me how I wanted my drink, but then it didn't come the way I ordered it. Too bad the wait and hostess staff is not as well trained as the chef.More

We went this past Tuesday. The place was crowded and it took 68 minutes from the time we ordered our food until it came to our table. It also took 45 minutes for our waitress to come back after we ordered to ask if we...wanted another drink. When we asked for our check it was another 15 minutes before she brought it. Over two hours to eat and all we ordered was a burger, salad, and pasta. No appetizers or dessert. I know most restaurants are having staffing issues. I'm sure the kitchen was overwhelmed. If they can't handle the tables don't sit so many people. Close some sections and have a waiting list. I would have rather sat at the bar, inside or outside for an hour before I was seated. It is a very nice place and the food has always been good but they are they obviously can't handle the amount of customers they are trying to serve. It will be a long time before we return to this place.More

Other than a great setting our past dining experience with 2 other couples at best was one star. We had different mistakes on our drink order & then it took 90 minutes to get our food. All 6 entree’s were below average & most were...overcooked with sides either served at lukewarm or cold and still overcooked. (They were also out of items but we weren’t told until 75 minutes after order was placed). While setting & our company was wonderful the actual dining experience was as bad as I ever experienced. It is apparent that this restaurant is severely understaffed & currently woefully mismanaged.More
