A group of us went to the Polecat & Lace while visiting Minocqua. Some of us found our meals to be all right while others found their meals to be less than average. I will only be directly commenting on the meal that myself and partner had. The deep fried cheese curds were a little dry. The Mushroom Ravioli with... More

This place is unchanged in almost 40 years. Menu has also changed precious little. The food is always reliable. It is a bar style atmosphere, but the food is full restaurant style. Prices are inline with local standards which is reasonable by big city standards. Mike keeps one or two decent beers on tap. I would recommend for a casual... More

Went there for lunch. The food was good, but not exceptional. I thought their prices were a little high even by Minocqua standards. The main reason for stopping here was so the women could have a Brandy Alexander for dessert. They are worth stopping in for!! Made with real ice cream. It takes about 15 minutes to make them so... They would not honor our gift certificate, because the expiration date they entered was incorrectly set 8 months before the certificate was even issued.

After several negative experiences elsewhere we stumbled upon this place. The owner was friendly, the service was great and the food was good. Nice place that I would return to.

We ate on a Friday evening around 6 pm. We were afraid there would be a crowd but were seated right away. They were about half full and filled slowly over the next hour but were never crowded. We found that somewhat surprising given the stories of large crowds and long waits we had heard of on TA. Service was... More

Beer is fine, people very very nice, but food is awful. We all had something different and no one had a good meal, don't know if they have no chef/cook, or if they aren't even trying, or if they think that slop is food. For how much we spent, it should have been a zillion times better.

First, let me say that I love this place. It holds echoes of many happy summer family memories. It's a wonderful, comfortable atmosphere. It's always immaculate. The food is good, but unchanged for many years. The menu is a bit stale and I worry that the Pole Cat may not stay competitive. It just needs some tweaks in choices and... More

Was quiet when we stopped in. A nice gentlemen got up and seated us immediately. Our waitress was no more than 5 minutes after we were seated. Fantastic old fashioneds for drinks, followed by some yummy cheese curds. I can't emphasize enough to order the French Onion Soup. It is amazing. I had their Philly Cheese Steak which is served... Don't let the tidy looks of this place in the middle of town turn you off by expecting to be disapponted when you go inside. You will like it very much. The dining room is large with an outdoor and wildlife theme, and has some unusual small wooden booths along the outside wall. They are different and quite comfortable for... More
