Polecat offers excellent homemade food, daily specials, homemade soups, great service, and a charming place to eat.

We try to come here on our annual trip to Minocqua. They've never disappointed us. We're always met at the door with a smile. Tonight I had the broiled scallops (the menu says in butter, but I chose not to have the butter.) They were MOST yummy with just spices on top! My husband enjoyed his broiled haddock. The dinners... We frequent this restaurant and we've never been disappointed. We like to go on Saturdays because they have great prime rib! Friday Fish fry is great and the bar is always busy too! The service is always phenomenal and their baked French onion soup and breaded ravioli are staples for us. I hear they also make the best old-fashioned in... More

I visited Polecat & Lace after walking past earlier in the day, and was intrigued. I entered following a party of older gentleman & ladies, and was immediately seated. I was brought water, dinner rolls and a menu. Although I only eat fish, I listened to the specials. A spotted cow and the walleye was for me. It included a... More

A group of us went to the Polecat & Lace while visiting Minocqua. Some of us found our meals to be all right while others found their meals to be less than average. I will only be directly commenting on the meal that myself and partner had. The deep fried cheese curds were a little dry. The Mushroom Ravioli with... More

This place is unchanged in almost 40 years. Menu has also changed precious little. The food is always reliable. It is a bar style atmosphere, but the food is full restaurant style. Prices are inline with local standards which is reasonable by big city standards. Mike keeps one or two decent beers on tap. I would recommend for a casual... More

Went there for lunch. The food was good, but not exceptional. I thought their prices were a little high even by Minocqua standards. The main reason for stopping here was so the women could have a Brandy Alexander for dessert. They are worth stopping in for!! Made with real ice cream. It takes about 15 minutes to make them so... They would not honor our gift certificate, because the expiration date they entered was incorrectly set 8 months before the certificate was even issued.

After several negative experiences elsewhere we stumbled upon this place. The owner was friendly, the service was great and the food was good. Nice place that I would return to.
